  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) Turned on Off the Record before, and it's pathetic how the media is trying to pin this all because of steroids. Everyone and their brother saw that coming a mile away. And they'll keep at it, no matter how much evidence there may be to go against it.
  2. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 12:31 PM) Malenko's real last name is Simon, so it could be that. It may also be Shane O'Mac. Just guesses. I read that about Dean's real last name. But, it's also kinda weird that he'd call him by his last initial. Usually when you use an initial for someone, it's their first name. Do you really think it could be Shane? Or are you just joking?
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 12:25 PM) Crazy, I'll definitely be believing 1000 until I see something official. 4/50 sounds way to good to be true. It would sound crazy with most people, but Mark Buehrle is a different type of major leaguer than most. I've heard lots of stories of people that know him or have met him, and he strikes me as the type of guy that wouldn't care to get that extra $2-3 million more a year, as he'd be just as happy with the amount offered. He's a simple guy. I could see him taking a deal for less money, as long as it was for enough years.
  4. LCR, who do you think the other person that received the texts was? The text says "C, S." Now, I'm quite positive the one is Chavo. Who is S?
  5. OK, so apparently this isn't true. But, if there were some truth to it, why the hell would we even re-sign Buehrle anyway? We absolutely need to trade the vets for good prospects. That is, unless we planned on trading the rest of the rotation besides Danks.
  6. This co-worker is clearly Chavo Guerrero. On the tribute episode of Raw, I clearly remember Chavo saying that exact bolded line. Poor Chavo. That guy's been through so damn much. I imagine that the other co-worker he talked to, with whom he travels a lot, is Dean Malenko. But, I'm not nearly as confident as I am that quotes above are about Chavo. And that part about Benoit's "physical" address kinda creeps me out a bit. It might give us an insight into his frame of mind at the time. It almost sounds like he meant to show a difference in his bodily life and spiritual life.
  7. The report is that it was Benoit, his wife, and his son Daniel. Apparently, he has two other children that were in Canada at the time.
  8. We're discussing this in the wrestling thread, but I'll put this here, too: UPDATE: Benoit called in to WWE Sunday and said he would be unable to make it back as his family was ill and they were spitting up blood.
  9. That supports the gas leak theory, I'd imagine.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) The White Palace. Let me know if/when you are coming out. We have plenty of tickets avaliable. Also I don't know how pleased I will to be sitting at the Bears games 6+ months pregnant. I had no idea. Congratulations! (
  11. Damn, he has children. At least the other two weren't involved.
  12. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) WWE has flat out said that he is dead. Not missing, but dead. They avoided that with the McMahon angle, only that it was presumed. This is real. And extremly, extremly odd. He went home to attend to personal family issues last night, only to be killed? I'm mystified. Two theories have already gone through my mind. The first is murder-suicide (which is always my first theory in instances where a couple are found dead). The second is that perhaps Benoit's family problem that forced him to leave the PPV was that his wife passed and he was overcome and took his own life. I understand I shouldn't be making assumptions already, but that's just what first crossed my mind. This is a huge loss to the wrestling world. Even those that weren't particularly big fans of Benoit have to understand that he's one of the greats of all time. RIP, Chris. And prayers to everyone involved. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) I would stop watching WWE forever. I wouldn't blame TNA for Vince's (and Benoit's, at that point) lack of humanity. That would be too much for me to accept. I could easily see Vince doing something like that, but I'd be shocked if Benoit would ever go along with something so classless. I saw a guess on another message board that made sense. Gas leak. He went home because of illness in the family, and they died overnight. That would make sense - any other reason for the whole family to die at once would IMO be far more sinister. We'll have to wait and see. I can't find anything online about Benoit having children. Right now it sounds like his family is just his wife. I hope there aren't kids involved.
  13. I seriously doubt this is an angle, but I swear I will stop watching wrestling forever if it is. And they have to stop this McMahon angle RIGHT now. They just have to.
  14. I just read that Benoit and his whole family were found dead.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) Self high 5, there is some TV channel called ION that shows an hour of the Wonder Years every week night. I haven't watched this show in years but loved it when it was on. They started in April. They've already gone through the entire run of the show (the final and first episodes were on last night). So, it's a good time for you to start watching again.
  16. Anyone else think it was kinda funny that the African-American ranger was black, the girl was pink, and the Asian was yellow? I thought that was funny even as a kid.
  17. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:32 AM) Not knowing either one, I like Contreras better than Buehrle as a person but that's because I greatly admire Jose's life. He's an amazing man who has lived an amazing tragedy, and I dearly want Jose to have a happy ending somewhere. I just wish it could be here, but I don't think that's possible. Buehrle I love, too, and I'd rather have him around long-term than Contreras, but I hate that reality. It's silly, but I wish we could send Jose to NY with Orlando and he could be happy there. These are just little feelings I have and thoughts. Personally, I think it's very possible that Garland goes for some young, good positional prospects. Dye for Billingsley? Contreras for someone in NY (Milledge?) and you've got the money for Buehrle + Ichiro (though Ichiro pays for himself) and a variety of possibilities. None of that is likely to happen, though. At least not in conjunction. The man has won a WS, he is now a multi-millionaire, and he's reunited with his family. I admire the man, too, but I'm way past feeling sorry for him.
  18. There's no choice for "trade Buehrle because we're not going to re-sign him."
  19. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 12:57 PM) Not helping. You either. We're in the End Days, that's what it is. If it helps, I have plenty of friends who drink Guinness and ales and such (I do drink various types of ale when I'm out with those friends). So, I'm cool through association. The stuff is just so damn filling. I drink in order to reach a goal. That goal is to get drunk. I just can't do it with Guinness.
  20. To me, Guinness tastes like a mixture of beer, coffee, and cigarette ash. I can make that myself...why buy it?
  21. First of all, very good list, Kalapse. You actually put them in order of how good they are, nice. First thing that popped into my mind is the pool of "talent" at 1B. If we're serious about rebuilding (which we should be, very soon), we can make a killing trading Konerko. When the best 1B option on the FA market is Shea Hillenbrand, Konerko has to look like Babe Ruth. Konerko has 3 more years on his contract, I believe, so that will make him desirable to other teams, plus he won't be too good by the time our rebuilding has taken place. Also, not much talent at 3B or DH, so teams may be more likely to take a risk on Crede and Thome, to a lesser extent.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 08:14 AM) LOL, honestly, that was the exact same thing that went through my mind when I read that. Isn't it pathetic? Every single time I see a baseball "fight" highlight on ESPN, I laugh. And for being athletes, besides lacking the ability to throw a decent punch, they can't land them either. Look at our own team last year. Brian Anderson threw about 38 punches at Mabry, and he grazed him twice. WHarris1 punches more household objects in a week than all of the combined punches landed by professional baseball players in a year.
  23. Wow, I feel like I'm rooting for the Royals. We can't even make an argument for anyone beyond Jenks, Buehrle, and Garland. Most years you can at least make a decent argument for like 10 players. This year it's ridiculous to even consider 22 of the 25 regulars.
  24. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) Let's not sissify baseball. They've been fighting forever. They will fight forever. You can't take a player's right to charge the mound if he so chooses away. Sissify baseball? Baseball players couldn't be bigger sissies if they tried. I have yet to see a professional baseball player that doesn't fight like a woman. OK, maybe Nolan Ryan.
