  1. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) I cant wait for that and I really want to see them live when the come to Chicago this time around. You know the video for their song Lazy Eye is really hard to tell, I always thought that the lead singer sounds like a female, and in the video it looks like a guy with a beard singing, but there is girl in the band. So who is the lead singer? The girl? Or does the guy have a high pitched female-like voice?
  2. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 06:41 AM) If the Bears could somehow sign Albert Haynesworth to put next to Tommie Harris next year, that would be my 1st move in the off-season. Highly unlikely for a couple reasons, and the Bears will say "we don't want to invest too much in one position," but in all honesty, it would made our defense dominant again. Now before all of you go crazy b/c the Bears always seem to draft DT's, I know where you're coming from. I would not be in favor of drafting BJ Raji in the 1st round or anything like that. But, if we had to opportunity to sign the Defensive POY, then we should do it. If you take a guy who's huge and take up 2 blockers consistently like Haynesworth, not only will it free up Urlacher and Briggs more, but can you imagine the havoc Tommie Harris would wreak if he only faced a single blocker on almost every down? It would help him stay healthier and fresher not getting consistently doubled. Also, Haynesworth is a phenomenal pass rusher from the DT spot, so the pass rush in instantly improved, and in turn, the defensive secondary is improved as well. Then, if you draft a DE in the 1st round (e.g. Greg Hardy), our defensive line suddenly goes from no ability to rush the passer to being dominant, like the line of '06. Look at this D-line and tell me our defense wouldn't be dominant again? Brown-Haynesworth-Harris-1st round pick... Throw in a new DC (b/c Babich is awful as everyone seems to know except for Lovie), and we essentially have the Titans defense of this year, but probably better. I think personnel-wise, our players (with Haynesworth) are better than the Titans (at least at every spot except Safety), yet their defense is awesome. The Bears offense this year with the Titans defense would be a 12-win team at worst and probably favorites to go to the Super Bowl along with the Giants. Though knowing Angelo, this will never happen. So, not sure what I'm even doing writing this... I keep reading stuff like this as if Angelo is Stand Pat Gillick. The guy makes moves. They may not always be right, but he makes moves. He traded for Thomas Jones, Brendan Ayenbedajo, Adewale Ogunleye, and of course some of the wrong moves were trading away Jones, trading for Archuleta, and trading away Chris Harris, but the fact remains that Angelo actually does make moves.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 29, 2008 -> 05:55 AM) That's neither here nor there, I got GTA IV midnight on the day it came out. I'm actually pretty disappointed in that game FWIW. Something just didn't feel right. Not enough Ho's and Guns? Random beatdowns just dont give you that fuzzy feeling anymore?

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 08:39 PM) Doesn't Kate Winslet get mega nekkid in it? That would keep me awake. I dont think its The Reader, its the movie with leo dicaprio, Revolutionary Road
  5. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) I find it funny that a Bears fan finds some humor out of this.... misery loves company. And we are pretty miserable bears fans right about now
  6. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28393469/ Im curious as to the response from Soxtalk to this sort of foreign "education".
  7. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 06:34 PM) No, not really, but isn't suggesting Dye of similar ilk? No, not really. Thome just doesnt have the athleticism anymore required to take care of the job. Its been suggested before that Dye can move to first to stay out of the DH for a few more years. Thome at first is much more of a longshot than Dye at first anymore
  8. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) Is it true he goes back to his glory days and sounds like a mix of Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets??? Metallica jokes with me fall on deaf ears. I have been done with them since I was forced to sit through the billions of hillbilly requests on saturday nights(Yay metallica meltdown at 10 PM!) for the same songs because they had SO MUCH MEANING for a guy who was sitting in his car at the end of the deadend street with his buddies drinking beer........every weekend. And if you think that story was just made up, it wasnt. Plus the Napster uprising by Lars just left a bad taste in my mouth. they can make music that everyone refers to as the best metallica music ever and I wont be interested in it one bit. I turn the radio off when I hear their stuff come on anymore, its really that bad now
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) Quite a difference giving up a 6th rounder compared to a 1st AND 3rd. Well fathom did say NEVER
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) Angelo would never trade draft picks for a player. He values draft picks more than any other GM in football. Except he did it last year for Archuleta.
  11. I dont care what anyone says, holding the Texans to a FG after 1st and goal on the 5 is huge T.Jackson just got picked off too
  12. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) Funny, I just got done reading an interview with him in Esquire mag where he mentions that he's been keeping a low prof. Apparently when his buddy was gunned down a few years ago (Proof, I think), it hit him extremely hard. The album is supposed to drop in the next couple of months(it was supposed to be December 08 but got pushed back) I am pretty sure you can hear a single off of it already online
  13. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) There are two sides to every story. I bet ( and hope ) that the guy probably asked them nicely and they were probably jerks about it. That doesn't justify shooting someone, but like you said, I can understand the rage. Two examples: I was at a Tom Petty concert once, in pavillion seats and of course everyone is standing. The girl in front of us decides to stand on her chair, blocking our view. I politely ask her to step down because we couldn't see the stage. Her BF looks back at me and says " she's not getting down". As you can imagine, it didn't end well.Back in Chicago, I was driving around looking for a parking space once, when I notice a guy sitting in his car, double parked next to an empty parking space. I pulled up next to him and asked him if was gonna park there, he said no that he was just waiting for someone. So I asked him if he could move back a little so I could park in the empty space. His reply was simply "Nope" and he rolled his window up. Again, another bad ending. Sorry, but people ask for it sometimes. Hopefully the ending wasnt as bad for you as it was the other two guys
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) You're kidding yourself if you don't think this team could use Nate Vasher. Not Nate Vasher version 2008. He was brutal this year
  15. Well this is it for the Bears and the Vikings, the end-all be-all. Win or go home for the Vikings, Win or go home for the Bears. Of course there are a few wildcard possibilities for both teams, but the best thing to do is to WIN first then let the cards fall where they may. Even without Mike Brown, I think the Bears come out firing on all cylinders today, defensively and offensively. Bears win 20-16 The Giants will not go with the 2nd string team today, but Jacobs will rest for the playoffs. Giants win in a squeaker, 24-21 Any updates throughout the game would be much appreciated, I am at work today and i am forced to "watch" the game through gamecast
  16. I dont know where I read it, but one of the reports on this stated that the shooting happened, the entire theatre cleared out, and the guy sat down and watched the movie until he was arrested
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 28, 2008 -> 06:59 AM) Hopefully this is where SIU can start to turn around the season. I'm not holding my breath though. BTW, did you see that Champ and Osiris are already talking undefeated season? Ridiculous. I just want to see strides towards the end of the season, and I will be happy. To expect them to come out and take the league as a freshman heavy squad is really expecting too much, although I think its possible to compete for the title. This is probably Creightons for the taking, IlSt will be at the top, and down the line its a free for all
  18. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 27, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) Now its like 60 degrees here. Having it be below zero on Monday night and now this warm has to be some kind of record. It seems like tornado weather outside right now. Its calm, then my windows are rattling, back and forth. Hard rain, lots of melting snow. Its really ugly outside right now

  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) Yeah, it's not something you can do right away, but with proper conditioning and plain old not getting babied throughout your career, it should be easily done. I don't know what I was thinking though, the modern pitcher would never be able to handle this. Now you have restrictions on every level how much someone can pitch. As for Kerry Wood, his injury was inevitable. It's complete bull to suggest that he could ever had pitched with them. The only way that would be possible for Wood is if he threw 50 innings a year only. Did his workload in HS accelerate the issue? Probably, but it didn't cause it. I love when you think your opinion trumps the years of schooling and the actual hours in the profession that ptatc has done. truly amusing reading
  21. Is there a link anywhere? Is this running on the ESPN crawl?
  22. You would think the Bears lost after looking at talkbears.com.
  23. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 12:02 PM) Ex-Dodger Mike Marshall has a web-site where he discusses the biomechanical problems of the pitching delivery. He has a theory that pitchers should change their delivery to reduce stress on the arm. It's pretty interesting. http://www.drmikemarshall.com/BaseballPitc...ionalVideo.html I don't think the 4-man rotation would work for an entire season because of the way pitchers are handled, but I do think there are points in the season where the fifth starter (or anyone who's struggling) could be skipped becasue of rainouts or some kind of scheduling quirk that would allow the 4 top guys to pitch on normal rest. You could probably get 3 or 4 more starts out of your top 4 guys and reduce the work load of the fifth starter just by periodically going to the 4-man rotation. Isnt this Tom House' sworn enemy? I think I remember this guys name from some tiff that him and House had over Prior's mechanics while with the Cubs
  24. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) I really want to like The Hold Steady but I just cant. The lead singers voice sounds like the guy the makes songs for kid movies I dont know his name (he did some songs in Toy Story). Probably Raffi
