QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 19, 2008 -> 07:11 AM) Finally got around to watching Magnolia last night. The first hour or so was entertaining, but it really went downhill from there. I think the lull is in the middle of the movie, then when it starts raining frogs it becomes interesting again

Two pitchers, two mysteries
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 19, 2008 -> 06:08 AM) Zito and Buerhle are 2 very different pitchers. He is going to keep harping on loss of velocity as the fall of modern day civilization....errr baseball as we know it, so we might as well humor him

Two pitchers, two mysteries
QUOTE (BearSox @ May 19, 2008 -> 05:32 AM) I was just wondering, can someone tell me what Zito's problem has been for the past couple of years? Has it been his location or the fact he throws BP fastballs that has caused him to get knocked around? According to this article, it is his location and velocity, but more location I know its hard for you to understand that pitchers can exist and succeed while losing velocity, but every pitcher loses MPH over the years. The good ones overcome that and become better for it while incorporating more junk, the bad ones get bounced from the league. The difference with Buehrle is that he hasnt lost all of the velocity he had, he still pitches in the high 80's, he just gets killed when he leaves the ball over the plate because hitters know he is going to throw strikes and that he pitches to contact.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
The offense was good today, thank god, because the bullpen sucked. Dotel just looked like he was tired, and kept getting everything up. Wasserman and Thornton were just terrible. OC Masset Brian Anderson

Two pitchers, two mysteries
QUOTE (knightni @ May 18, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) He certainly tells us that every day. By the way, Hawk is a smart baseball guy. He just gives us a 'homer' approach because that's what he thinks that Sox fans want. Even if you dont like him and the way he presents himself on a broadcast, he has been around the game for 49 years and has seen and been a part of more games than any one of us. Homer or not, he knows the game pretty well

Two pitchers, two mysteries
QUOTE (knightni @ May 18, 2008 -> 07:30 AM) Did you seriously call Ken Harrelson, "Hack"? The man may be repetitive, but he knows more baseball than you know. This unpossible. Bearsox know all

2008 AL Central Catch-All Thread
The Reds beat the Indians again today, with Adam Dunn hitting a 3 run walkoff vs Masa Kobayashi. The Indians bullpen is a serious issue, they have nobody back there that can nail down a save anymore.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 17, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) Ya Ive tried the Myspace thing. I had to immediately ask myself, what the hell am I doing on myspace. I bet I can find some stuff on those magazines web sites, thanks. Well, myspace music isnt anything to be embarrassed reading. I only go to thier myspace music pages because they have constantly streaming music, so I get to give them a listen before I get the album

Music Thread
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 17, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) Anybody have any strategies for finding bands that you like that youve never heard? After going through every avenue to download songs from the bands Ive heard of and becoming curious to find more Ive been trying some new tactics to find new bands I like but have never heard of. Things like looking up the music in tv shows or movies I like, going to billboard.com and so on. I get Blender and Spin magazine, I ignore the featured artists in the front part of the magazine and go to the new releases in the back. I read the reviews and some catch my eye, I will find them on myspace music or their personal webpages and check them out. Last.fm and pandora are pretty cool too

2008 Chicago Cubs Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2008 -> 12:28 PM) Zambrano just completely blew up, starting after he broke his back over his knee after striking out. Here comes Wuertz...a reminder, don't swing if it gets to 3-2. How does his pitch speed look? Last start he was hovering around 90, and had that moment where the trainer came out and looked at him

Sen. Ted Kennedy
QUOTE (YASNY @ May 17, 2008 -> 09:37 AM) Senator Kennedy was just rushed to a Massachusetts hospital with symptoms of a stroke. That's all I know at this point. Thats a shame. He lived life pretty hard, maybe it finally caught up to him. Pray for a strong recovery if this is indeed a stroke

5/17 gamethread: Sox (21-20) vs Giants (17-26) 8:05, WGN
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 17, 2008 -> 03:48 AM) This may be the matchup of two pitchers who used to be good and now suck. The other one is a f***ing Boras client. f*** him. In all seriousness, Buehrle should pitch well in San Fran. Zito f***ing sucks. Hit him. WSF, I love it when you analyze Yes, I will continue to say it until the Sox lose
