QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) I heard 'Magic' by The Cars over the weekend and it's stuck in my head. What a great, great song. My wife is a big Cars fan and I've always kinda written them off as 80's cheese. I might have to give that greatest hits CD a spin again. I went on a Cars DLing spree last year. Thier stuff is great, I love listening to it. They have a lot of songs that you hear and say "Oh yeah, I remember that song....I love that song."
  2. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) It just looks like a statute. of limitations?

This is Mike Stanley. Mike Stanley isnt too bright. You can see why.
  4. I heard about this on Mike and Mike this morning, and I was totally blown away by how sexist Keith Hernandez was, and how big of a deal he made out of absolutely nothing. http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/grane...1s24graney.html
  5. QUOTE(hi8is @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) i didnt see what happened, someone recap Boone came in yesterday, the Sox were already up 6-2, and he got one out and then proceeded to walk 2 batters, and his pitches werent even close. McCarthy came in, walked one more, then got Hunter to fly out deep to right field.
  6. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) The Tribe drops one to the Royals, 5-1. Well I dont feel so bad that the Sox dropped 2 in KC now
  7. It seems like a pitcher goes through the lineup fairly quickly the first time, maybe one hitter getting a hit, and the second time through all of them adjust. This offense is impressive to watch, and they have the late inning killer instinct. So much fun watching this team roll.
  8. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) USC made a lot of money of Reggie Bush. It doesn't make it the right thing to do but I don't get worked up too much over this stuff I feel the same way. Colleges do nothing but profit on their athletes. And you are right, its not the right thing to do, but I dont get worked up either.
  9. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) I thought that it was "Three Gorilla Strong". I thought it was MotherFu***** Strong. I think all three fit. Damn I love Thome on the White Sox.

  11. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) Varitek is batting .224 and Sweeney is batting .188. Those numbers look cool too. touche'
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:19 PM) Your birthday is May 26, too? Sure is. Only heroes are born on May 26th
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) That is incredibly similar to what the Sox did last year against Johnson, last year it was 2-3-4 hitting the HRs with the catcher hitting the 4th HR and it being a 3 run HR. In 96 it was 3-4-5 and the catcher hitting the 4th HR but it was a 2 run HR. The homerun that still sticks out to me was Harold Baines. It was a linedrive to left field, and I swear to god that ball didnt go over 15 feet off the ground. It was just a smash. Kreuters homerun was surprising though, because it was a bomb, about halfway up the RF bleachers.
  14. QUOTE(White Sox Fan For Life @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) But why would I have a picture of a person that I do not know as my avatar? LOL, do you ever look at peoples avatars? You are one of the few who use your own picture as their avatar.
  15. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) did anyone catch the clip on ESPN News today. The Brew Crew hit 5 homeruns in the 4th inning, tying a Major League record 4 off one pitcher I was at a Sox game on May 26, 1996(my birthday) when Thomas, Baines, Ventura went back to back to back, and then Lyle Mouton hit a single, and Chad Kreuter followed with another homerun. I think it was all against Mike Fetters too.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) Oh he was serious. He's tried to backpedal, saying he thought it was funny. But the video shows he clearly did not find it humorous. The best part is, he is a burgeoning politician. So he's running around the internet trying to get this thing removed to protect his image. I've got the thing saved to my HD, his name plugged into Google alerts, and a stock email already written just waiting to be addressed to his opponent. LMAO!!! That is too funny Cheat
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) Since we are not typing english here. Cén fáth nach dtuigeann tú? lol, i have no idea what anyone is saying. Thats pretty much what my sentence says, I used a English - Spanish translating program on some website.
  18. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) Should we be expecting a "Ozzie's Sunday Special" line up today? Oh wait, Timo is gone and most of the reserves played yesterday. The Ozzie Sunday Special just doesnt bother me anymore. These reserves are great.

QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) The nice side of me says that is just wrong.......then I start laughing my ass off. Im curious if that those ladies ended up in court. She has all the evidence she needs, an unprovoked assault.
  20. Yo no tengo la menor idea lo que usted tipos dicen y tuve que utilizar a un traductor en línea para decir esto.
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:15 AM) Well he is 6 homers away from becoming 2nd in the history of baseball I understand that completely. Its just annoying the crap out of me. We are on alert for every homerun he hits, and even moreso for the games he doesnt hit homeruns. I understand why, I just wish it would be over soon.
  22. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) The last 2 offseasons combined the Astros have added ONE so-so free agent.. and that was Preston Wilson They havent really done much the past few years, its really dissapointing living here and wanting them to actually DO something and they dont sign a damn person worth anything for the second year in a row Well what should they do? They made the world series last year, its not like they had a bad team.
  23. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 09:25 AM) Aboz gets the jump on the gamethread! Lets Rip Em! Hasnt 8 games been a high water mark for the White Sox win streaks for quite some time now? I cannot remember them going past 8 games in a row for some time now.
  24. QUOTE(Beltin'Bill @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 01:31 PM) The Astros have been one of the most consistently successful franchises in the Major Leagues over the past ten years. They have made several playoff appearances, advanced to a few LCS and made their first WS appearance last year. They are a well run organization that continues to have success. I would say they are the best run franchise in the majors after the Braves (and possibly the Cardinals). I mean no disrespect to the Yankees and Red Sox, but while their runs of success have been impressive in their own right, the Astros have done it without spending excessive $$$ on multiple superstars and have also done an exceptional job of promoting from within the organization. Their continued success does not surprise me in the least bit. I disagree with that, in the last two years they have had some big contracts for multiple superstars. Clemens, Bagwell, Petitte, Oswalt, Berkman, all have salaries that exceed 11 million a year. I dont remember what Kent was making 2 years ago, but I know he wasnt cheap either. Than you have their second tier of players that make 4 million a year in Preston Wilson, Biggio, Ensberg, Lidge. The team has thrown the money around at their big names, no doubt. The thing they have done well is promote from within, they havent had to go outside of their own organization very much to fortify their roster. And thats the way it should be if you ask me, if your players come up and perform, you pay them.
  25. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 07:21 AM) The problem with this article is that the author is taking all the expressions literally. When a coach tells you to keep you eye on the ball while hitting, what he is actually wanting you to do is keep your eye on it as long as possible. When he says 'get under the ball' in the outfield, he wants you get to the general area in time to make necessary adjustments. The expressions get the point across a lot better than the alternative suggested by this guy and therefore are more effective from a coaching standpoint. I also think the author is wrong about coaching little leaguers. You cannot compare keeping your eye on the ball in the major leagues to keeping your eye on the ball in little league Why is that impossible for a child? He is facing lob pitches, I dont think its impossible for a kid to track the ball to his bat.
