It makes the whole thing look a lot more crisp, instead of watching a game in the middle of what looks like a park or a parking lot. There's got to be mud, grass, walkways, materials all over the place. I have no problem with it. If you are concerned with gimmicks and it being phony, you should have been turned off by this game a long, long, long time ago. -

I have no idea why you are concerned about that. -
A week ago went to Hot Doug's on North California in Chicago. I guess the place is pretty damn popular, always lines around the building for it.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 30, 2008 -> 08:47 PM) Tonight showed why this team shouldn't be called "elite".They are a very good team that is extremely exciting, but are not in the class of San Jose-Detroit-Boston. The bad penilties taken by the youth on the team are a prime example of the Hawks just not being on that level. I will say Conklin has played out his ass tonight, and was very impressive. Penalties in the offensive zone suck. They had been better at this recently, tonight it cost them. We did have some real good pp chances, especially early, but couldn't capitalize. I liked the looks on it though. Detroit is such a good passing and puck possession team, especially down low. They don't turn it over in the neutral zone often, and it's tough to forecheck on them. And this was WITHOUT Lidstrom. Oh, and f*** ty conklin. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 11:59 PM) It's a really long season. The one thing about the Hawks is they aren't very deep up top. They really don't even have a true Top 6. Most teams don't, but the elite do, which is what the Hawks are trying to be. I'm not trying to be a downer, but just looking big picture. None of these guys have really been there, and the NHL season is a f***ing grind. I love this team, and it's been incredibly rewarding watching these guys after having to get excited about the "ABC" line, but I still think they are a year away. Having this core get a round or two of playoff experience under their belt should go a long way. Yup. Enjoying it right now, staying patient nonetheless. And the J1 game might not show s*** if the ice/weather is anything like it was last year. It will be a fun game and an event, but may not show much no matter the score. We'll have to see. -

Gotta pick your spots on fights. Generally you aren't wanting to fight when you are ahead and controlling the game unless you need to do it. Glad I stayed up til 3am watching that game on DVR last night, good game back and forth. -

QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) Count me in the screw B&B crowd. They make my ears bleed that's why I refuse to tune in to the blowhards with very little sports knowledge. Bernstein knows a s***load about sports, but ok -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 06:34 PM) Oh, come on!! They are soooo mid-morning. And yes, when the dial hits 9, it is the same for me. Well I don't catch much Mike and Mike, but I do have it on before that show. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) They have really developed a strong chemistry. I still wish Carmen and Silvy were on, but I really enjoy Waddle and Silvy. Yeah, they work really well together. The show has also gotten a bit funnier/goofier as the months have passed, which has made it all the more enjoyable.

The BCS Sucks Vent Thread

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) The other 2 spots would go to the highest remaining ranked teams in the BCS standings. No automatic bids for the smaller schools. This year we would have USC, Cincy, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Penn St. and Virgina Tech. Now it isn't perfect, but it sure as hell would be better than the current system for determining a champion. So you'd have an 8 team playoff, but Utah and/or Boise St aren't in? I didn't say automatic bids, I said in theory. If they are undefeated, you can't get them into an 8 team playoff? Now, I will say I don't think they always deserve a shot, but you can't have an 8 team playoff and always exclude an undefeated team from a smaller conference. It should go BCS top 8 and that's that. This year Utah's in, VTech at 19, absolutely not. A team with 4 losses should not be in an 8 team playoff. They should not even have the chance at a title. Major flaw in that system. Having Cincy in over Boise St. is questionable as well. This is why a standard BCS conferences +2 is not a good system at all. And that thought gets me back to how much a playoff could suck, and why the regular season is so awesome and meaningful. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 05:25 PM) I can't see anyway the major conferences (ACC, Big 10, SEC, Big 12, Pac 10) would agree to a playoff without being guaranteed one entry. If we somehow end up with an 8 team playoff (I prefer a 4) and it's 6 BCS conferences plus 2 at large (which in theory go to the 'smaller' schools anyways), the setup is a complete waste and does more harm than good. -

McCamey needed to get rid of the ball a lot earlier, he can't drive or create his own shot. He was basically thinking 3 and that's about it. 10 seconds of dribbling, inexcusable. McCamey is talented, but he plays dumb. He makes bad defensive decisions and did bad things with the ball all game, unless he was just catching and shooting. On defense too many easy buckets. Way too many points in the paint. How many shots did Clemson actually have to hit? Not many. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) I'm the kind of person who takes things to the logical extremes - so if we're going to do that, everyone should tip every teacher, police officer, or U.S. servicemember they see (just the first few enlisted ranks, and maybe the junior officers). Since that's not logical I have to draw the line somewhere... I just don't have that much money to be throwing around. Good point. I was thinking that you should tip the checkout person at the grocery store. The process of beer to hand is almost identical of that of food to your cart. Pretty sure no one does that, and would consider it ridiculous.
