QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 08:27 AM) And John Kerry has been in office since 1985. How does that make him a junior senator? Because Ted Kennedy's been a Massachusetts senator longer?

I think that each and every time I ever saw Man Soo Lee, he was smiling. I wish him well in his new position, but I'll miss him as one of the faces of the Sox.
-
It would be ugly. Real ugly.

I was thinking to myself before this series began what the over-under bet should be for number of games the Cardinals would win. I figured the right over-under number would have been 1.5. And I think you'd find a good balance there. Nobody gave the Cards a chance. Quite frankly, I'm amazed at how it's gone thus far.

That is absolutely priceless!

This gives me such a weird feeling. I don't know how to describe it.

Minnesota Twins Post Mortem Playoff Thread
Balance replied to hammerhead johnson's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) Twins have their back against the wall now. Down 2-0 in a best of five series, they will be hard pressed to win the series now. Sure, but Oakland doesn't have a good track record for closing out series lately.... -
QUOTE(Beltin @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) In one word....BALANCE. This team did not have it all year, including when they were pounding the world in the first half. Word.

QUOTE(chiguy79 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) Would rather win the division with 2.2mm in attendance... Didn't season ticket holders have to put non-refundable deposits on their playoff tickets which are applied to next year's season tix, effectively they are locked in aren't they? That should keep retention high. It definitely should. There was an option to make your deposit on playoff tickets refundable, but if you did so, you would be giving up your place in line for next year's season tickets. However that works. Me, I'll be back. Hopefully in the Club Level. But we'll have to see.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) How did our fans react after the game was over? It was a nice home win with the home runs (what else, when we win). Did they cheer or just walk away. Attendance for the game was a sellout, somewhere upward of 37,000. A lot of those people were there disguised as empty seats, however. I don't know what the turnstile attendance was, but I'd guess that there were about 25,000 fans actually there. This is based on nothing but my own observations. By the end of the game, there were fewer fans there. The crowd was having a good time, what with the offensive fireworks and all. Neal Cotts was the only player to receive boos, for obvious reasons. After the Sox congratulated themselves on the win, shaking hands around the pitcher's mound, they took a little extra time to acknowledge the fans, tipping their hats and waving to the crowd. Those of us who were still there were mostly standing and applauding with appreciation. We had been standing since there were two outs in the 9th, most of us just didn't sit down. It was very bittersweet. It was nice of the players to acknowledge the fans, as far as I'm concerned.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) I agree. I am relieved, too. Being a Sox fan this year was NO fun. Especially second half. First half had its moments, but since the ASB this has been a bummer. I couldn't agree more. It was painful to see this ballclub underperform over and over again since midseason.

Mine came yesterday, too. It's enough to make a person depressed.

I don't know if I can bring myself to root for any of the AL playoff teams. I loathe the Twins, I dislike most of the Tigers' players, and I loathe the A's almost as much as I loathe the Twins. In fact, I dislike the Yankees the least of the bunch! This is not to say that I'll root for them, either. I don't want my father to disown me. But still, I'd almost rather see them win than any of the other teams. I think I'm going to pull for the NL team, although we know that's a futile gesture.

This post about the skeleton isn't by any chance related to your other post about the skeleton, is it?

I would wish Joey success at his new position.

Heart? Good band from the 70's and 80's. Ann and Nancy Wilson. I loved "Bad Animals." I know, I know. I just wanted to lighten things up a little. I'm as disappointed as anyone here in this season. I agree that it didn't seem like they had the same desire as they did last season. Maybe this will prove to be an attitude adjustment for next season. We can always hope....

Wow. Just....wow. And not in a good way.

Prime reasons why the 2006 White Sox failed to repeat
Balance replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just get the feeling that burnout was a factor. Postseason last year combined with the World Baseball Classic (for some players) probably wore on the team. I'm not saying this is the only factor, but I think that's another thing that has contributed to this season. -
During Pardon the Interruption yesterday, ESPN broke in in the 8th inning to let the world know that a perfect game was in progress. They cut in just in time to show Freddy go to a full count with Kennedy, who then singled to center. So, if blame goes to Hawk, then blame has to go to ESPN as well. Of course, it's all just superstitious crap.
-
They're all pretty much "must win" games from here on out.
-
Of course, we need to win for this to have any meaning....
-
This team isn't showing anything to suggest that they'll be able to come through in the Metrodome the last weekend of the season.
