The Midwest Bracket (St. Louis)
I had Wisconsin losing to UNLV... so them losing here is fine by me, especially since I hate the Badgers and everything they stand for.

Dead Brackets Club
QUOTE(Reddy @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) didn't lose any sweet 16s but lost 5 teams in the 32... not great... but coulda been worse i guess. damn you duke and marquette! Basically the same here. I lost 6 teams in the 32, but nothing deeper than that.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 01:29 AM) Yes and following the tradition of the Braves closer carousel once Wickman fails Raphael Soriano probably has the inside track to close games out. I'm not so sure they want to move Gonzalez into the closer's role this year. Yea, I wasn't sure about that situation, which is why I want to upgrade the pen.

Fantasy Baseball Teams
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 11:27 PM) Are you f'n kidding me? Who the hell else was drafting? Are saves worth 1,000 points? What gives? Yea, I kinda like how my team shaped up, but I'm not convinced Gonzalez will repeat last years performance in the pen and Jenks worries me with his health always. It's a head to head league with these stats: R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, K, A, FPCT, AVG, W, L, SV, HR, BB, HBP, K, BLK, SB, ERA, WHIP I'm likely going to deal Bill Hall just because I know I can get a kings ransom for him (probably Ryan Howard/David Ortiz) and I don't think he'll be as good as last year, but past that my roster is basically going to be untouched barring any injuries.

10 team league, drafted 7th. C Brian McCann 1B Adrian Gonzalez 2B Chase Utley 3B Chad Tracy SS Bill Hall OF Carl Crawford OF Jason Bay OF Nick Markakis UT Jim Thome BN Richie Sexson BN Carlos Guillen BN Pat Burrell BN Joe Crede BN Jhonny Peralta SP Carlos Zambrano SP Brandon Webb SP Scott Kazmir SP Erik Bedard SP Jeremy Sowers RP Bobby Jenks RP Mike Gonzalez BN Anibal Sanchez Thoughts? I think I need to strengthen my bullpen and 1B, but past that I like my situation. Tracy and Crede are a good platoon at third, and I think Peralta will bounce back from a poor 2006.

Heath Phillips
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 06:36 PM) Last year was his best year in the minors so far, by quite a bit... It's the same for Josh Fields though, isn't it? I haven't looked at his numbers for a little bit, but if I remember correctly, last year trumped his past years, and it wasn't even close. That being said, Fields is younger, and hasn't been in the minors for as long as Phillips.

2007 White Sox Catch-All Thread
A couple of Sox references from the new Peter Gammons post: • Two obscure names? Scouts rave about Tiger lefty Edward Campusano, who had 81 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings in A-AA last year; White Sox RHP Adam Russell ticking 97-98; and Adenhart, the Angels' right-hander, who may be a factor on that staff before it's over. • The Red Sox were told that Jon Garland is not available. Period.

Rowand on The Score
QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) If Rowand were cheap, then fine -- go ahead and bring him back. But I really don't think he's much more than a marginal improvement over Anderson. And if takes a picther off the major league roster to get him, it's a bad trade. Even Aardsma?

Upset Picks Thread
Lets see... UNLV > Wisconsin in the second, Illinois > VT in the first (unlikely, but whatever), Gonzaga > Indiana in the first, TT > BC in the first, Texas > UNC, Stanford > Louisville, Creighton > Nevada. Still debating Texas Tech over Boston College, and will probably pick BC, but whatever.

Your Final Four?
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) Same here. Georgetown is my champ. I like the way you think sir, my brackets agree with you.

Reminder: Sign up early for MMOD
Signed up a week or so ago, but it turns out I may be watching the games at Williams Arena (Gopher basketball stadium), so it might be unused by me.

The East Bracket (East Rutherford)
QUOTE(Be Good @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) Go Hoyas Georgetown vs Texas in Elite 8 I agree with this, fully. Georgetown over Texas in the elite 8, and then it gets interesting.

The East Bracket (East Rutherford)
I've got Georgetown in the final 4... easy road for them.

Annual Soxtalk NCAA Bracket
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) Well guys, I already filled out the perfect bracket. Sorry everyone. So did I SIU all the way, right?

Rowand to the Sox??
MacDougal for Rowand would be a joke of a trade... especially considering the steal of a contract we locked MacDougal up for earlier in the offseason.
-
Rowand to the Sox??
Rowand would probably lower the odds of a Pods/Erstad combo in the starting lineup... I wouldn't mind that at all. Plus, Rowand kicks ass.

Best program to have never won a Championship?

More reason to love the media
QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 12:32 PM) i just searched through the archives quite a bit and couldn't find it... It was "punch" as in "vote for", and started here (was asking readers, not players, but still..)

More reason to love the media
Pfft, the White Sox did this (or at least, Scott Reifert did it) at http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/ last year (during the whole "Punch AJ!" campaign, which worked brilliantly). The Sun-Times is a year late.

3/5/06 Sox @ Brewers Game Thread
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) Losing 10-12 mph on your fastball has got to raise some questions about this. Yea, it obviously has NOTHING to do with injuries building up on a body or anything like that.
