I hope you aren't equating sports writers and draftniks filling time to what the Sox are doing, because those aren't the same thing. Me reading that pundits were saying that Roch would have been the #1 pick in a previous draft doesn't mean that the Sox have already decided that they are picking this guy and aren't looking at anyone else. That isn't the same thing.

Those three years being his Freshman year of college, sophomore year of college, and now upcoming Junior. You can choose to disagree with it, but dude's name has been out there for a minute.

I think the thing here is that there are dudes who get the "oh he COULD be a 1-1 next year" and there are dudes in the Arod/Griffey type of category that spend YEARS ahead of time being talked about as THE #1 pick. It feels like Roch has been closer to the hype of the latter, versus falling into a bucket with like 3 or 4 guys who COULD be #1 in a different season. This dude has been labeled as the #1 pick (if he were available) for like the last 3 drafts (including this 1 going forward). I think the amount by which he has lapped the other guys in the next draft is why people are quicker to label him as THE #1 instead of a POTENTIAL #1 pick.

I am pretty sure that by the time the Sox would open a new stadium when the lease is up, their money owed will be paid off. That isn't a problem for Jerry and Co.

When the idea was that the Twins were going to finish burning the franchise to the ground this off-season and trading their last few pieces, I would have bet the Sox ahead of the Twins, and said as much. Now that they have their capital infusion, and aren't in desperate financial straights anymore, that might change. We will see what the Twins do.

Common misconception. People think he's Irish because of the O apostrophe in his last name. Not true. He's actually one of the historically mediocre Hearns. They have been cutting because of previous season losses for years now. There is nothing to say that they had previously cut enough either.

That depends on how far the new TV deal fell, and how much of last year they expected to happen. If it fell by half-ish, they are in the same situation going forward, as they were last year. Knowing the hit the team is going to take from dropping tiers on Comcast alone is a pretty big red flag for them going forward. Unless Ish is writing checks for both the hundred million in debt, the losses for last year, and more players this year, I think expecting a significantly bigger payroll in 2025 is at best a wait and see. I definitely wouldn't assume it.
