To me, with all of the complexities and moving parts of what is happening around making the South Loop deal happen, it doesn't seem to jive with the idea of JR being lazy for sure. The laziest thing possible would be staying put and adding on around the existing facility. Instead they are in some major projects with railroads around a landswap to get something done. The Sox not being able to get what they want in Bridgeport and looking for green pastures elsewhere is a TON more work for Jerry and this franchise.

Supposedly Bridgeport has been on the same (or better) elevator ride up. I am also not following why the ISFA WOULDN'T want development around Sox Park as it would mean more people at games, which is more tax dollars to all of the entities involved here? The Sox have also had plenty of huge dollars come in from their investors like Hobson and now Ishbia in the last five years.

Looking at this overall season, and what top end free agent 1B deals have looked like in the last few years, I am not sure how they come to an extension that makes both sides happy.

Honestly, I get the feeling that the reason that nothing ever happened around the new park was because the neighborhood didn't want it, and that's why the Sox are looking to move a couple of miles north.

The problem is we have a lot of mediocre to bad pitchers on the staff that do not own put away type stuff. They don't have to worry about pitches they can't get a bad on.

And they do seem to be doing that, which has helped his numbers.

And to their credit, they finally killed that experiment.

Yeah, if there was an equivilant pitcher (RP or SP at this point) I would be in. Catcher I could listen on. Everything else? Nah.

I am guessing that Jerry's spending depends a lot on how much in concessions that Jerry and the Hardliners extract from the players. The worse it is, the more likely he is to spend before spending picks up again.

This reminds me of the Doyle and Castillo moves in that you are partially putting playoff hopes on fixing a guy in a very short period of time. I get why you would avoid him, plus immortal question... Where would he play?

How many times have they settled the stadium issue? Sounds like something else in the news...
