White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M
southsider2k5 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That makes the equilibrium at the point where the middle of all bets would be, so literally half of the people think the Sox will win that many games, or more, and the other half less. It's the literal crowdsourcing of where people think the Sox will be next year. -

Especially if they aren't on expiring contracts. -

Keeping up implies we were roughly equal. I think trying to CATCH up is more accurate. -
Unless Curtis Mead goes ham, I expect a DFA, just like the line of post-hype reclamation projects over the last few years.
-
Over value Curtis Mead? I think your egg nog is dangerously expired.

And until it changes up top, fans have every right to understand that Jerry has his fingers into every piece of the White Sox pie, and his whims change what everyone else below him is allowed to do. Even this GM with all of this new runway wasn't allowed to sign a $40 million free agent without begging for it, and then having to do interviews about how grateful he was that he was allowed to add something so small to this team. -

Maybe they need some other help then. -

Let's be honest. This team is still hot garbage, and will be for the foreseeable future. If you are waiting for the Sox to be good again before you invest, believe me you aren't alone, and you might as well check out for the next couple of years at least. I can give credit to progress, and this is a move that can at least pay a dividend more than filling innings in 2026. -

This is 100% accurate. Wild we needed to get to literally the lowest expected payroll before we could spend a whole 10 million dollars on one player. -
While the names on the top might change, the friends and family plan never does.

The prices for pitching and relief pitching at the last couple of deadlines has been crazy. I think Getz tried to play that game last year by trading young prospects for old relievers so that he could get in on it, without actually spending any money, but obviously that failed. At worst you get innings filled. At best, baseball begs for pitching at the deadline. Obviously the best deals for for cheap controlled relievers, but the market is what it is. If this dude can even be a mid-tier closer, with an extra year of control, he's someone who should bring a top 100 and more. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-trade-deadline-2025-transaction-tracker -

This is actually a signing that could pay off at the deadline. -
It will be either Kannapolis or staying in the complex, depending on how they view his progress and readiness. My guess would be Kanny.
-
It is the trend around baseball. They play sim games around the complex. With the signing date moved back to late, most teams don't even bother assigning their HS signings until the next year.
-
It would be wild to assume that minor league deal means will only play at AAA. The Sox have churned their rosters like Amish making butter the last few years. These dudes are almost certainly going to see Chicago for some period of time, more than a few of them will see significant playing time.

There is a fair chance the dude just saw your post and shared it as his info.

CosPlaying as an insider is absolutely his fault.

He apparently deleted this one. Quality work as usual by our favorite colon.

Just keep in mind, with that big $20 million that the White Sox freed up by trading deadweight Luis Robert, this the bin the White Sox will be shopping in to finish off this roster. -
I will even go out on a limb here. If the Sox had a choice between the Japanese player and getting nothing for Robert, or no Murakami, but picking up cash to get a major return for Robert, with where the franchise is in 2026 and 2027, I take the later every time. We are still no where near our window, and these deals in isolation don't help us get there.

There have been articles related to other teams on this topic.

At the very least, the Sox KNOW what they have been offered in the past, and what they have been offered if they were willing to kick in cash. The Reds offer this winter, and the winter before this one, were significantly higher if the Sox kicked in some cash. Literally we could have bought superior prospects from them. But that is a bridge too far.
