Should the Sox be buyers this deadline?
Wait, what? The Dodgers do WHATEVER it takes to win. Trade deadline, offseason, international, etc.

Insanity. The dude is a walking time bomb owed over double what the biggest contract Jerry has ever issued is. Unless Anaheim is taking on about 90% of that contract, I am not interested.

The market rate for back up catchers who don't play great defense is dfa.

He's closer to DFA than a draft pick trade.

Leaving your fragility aside, the post isn't that complex. Getz is getting all of the credit, none of the blame, and that will continue to be spun once the team falls out of contention, even though he'd rather be wrong and it not happen.

Who is giving up a pick for Quero? My guess is that it ends up being one of the relievers.

2026 MLB Draft Thread...White Sox Control Draft/V.Lackey closing fast
The Rays are in first place, Cards are 2.5 out of first place with a nice record, and Pirates have surprised the plus side. As of now, no one else is close enough to consider trading a pick for something. The Cardinals might be the best chance there, as they do get active at the deadline. I would be pretty surprised if Pitt and AZ are around the race in two months.

Poor luck isn't the right term. I would call them "non-existent". Supposedly that is changing, but we will see.

The wild thing is for all of the grief the White Sox got for actually NOT drafting an employees kid for once, they were actually right on Thomas.

No one is giving up a big prospect package for Mike Trout. He hasn't played more than 135 games in a season since the last White Sox rebuild was getting going. He has qualified for a batting title in a full season once since COVID happened. He is also owned $37.1m prorated for the rest of this year, plus another 4 years at $37.1 million per season. We are talking about $175 million for a dude who has played less than 80 games in 3 of the past 5 seasons. I know writers need to write, but this is absurd.

Teel suffers LCL sprain (Pg. 5), out 3-6 weeks
Again, when Getz talked about his assignment, he made it sounds like weeks, not days. He talked about spring training repetitions, and getting back into shape.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
And if you want to look at it, you were sitting on a depreciating asset on a franchise circling the drain. Even if you didn't trade him in 2023, you trade him in 2024. And if you didn't trade him in 2024, you trade him in 2025. We know there were superior offers out there over time, and all the Sox had to do was pick up contract, at least within the last two offseasons. Instead we let him depreciate until his value was you can give us trash if you take his contract on, and we called that a win. There was no bigger mistake made than Luis Robert's status in the post Getz era, and that is saying something with the Cease trade still hanging out there.

Sure buddy. You keep telling yourself that.

Who the heck wants to trade for Mike Trout? That would be literally one of the worst possible moves this franchise could make.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
In 2023 He had his ONE healthy season going all of the way back to his getting hurt in 2017, during his professional debut. It was always obvious he was injury prone. If it really was known that this was the rebuild of all rebuilds, his one healthy season in 6 pro seasons, with future accelerating salaries, was always the obvious peak value for him. Betting on his to do it again, especially after the collapse, was fools gold.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
He is quickly going the route of the others where the perpetual injuries are sapping their actual talent. I don't know why it took years of us trying to get "value" for him to realize this, but his entire history going back to rookie ball is loaded with injuries.
