QUOTE(RDriesen @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) no offense, but what kw offered the reds was not a "huge push". you arent gonna get anything worth getting if you think thats a huge push Picking up at least $40 million of that contract is a big push, as is Chris Young.
  2. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) gotta be specific when talkin about bull now lol could be bullard or bullinger There is only one Bull.

QUOTE(effectivelywild @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Honestly, most of my white sox fan friends think that Hawk is almost single-handedly detroying the fan base. Television is crucial to developing fans. Hawk can be just painful to listen to sometimes. Honestly, I could do a better job. Would you care to explain to me how the Cubs have any fans that ever watch them on TV or listen to them on radio then? Because Hawk has nothing on the sucktitude that has been Cubs broadcasts for years now.
  4. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) But the Royals probably have a better offense. :puke If you add up our 5 longest losing streaks of the season, you get what the Royals lost in this one streak.
  5. Hope you had a great Birthday Tony!!!
  6. LMFAO.... YOu guys wanted Konerko gone, and now you get to see what the line up looks like without him
  7. QUOTE(spataro51 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Well first let me just say that i have been posting again the last few days because i now have a computer again, and it is great to be back seeing all of the old posters still here. Second, what i am posting I was not to mention at all to anyone but i just can't keep a secret and would love to have this all over before old selig has a chance to put it out there. I am just repeating what was told through my source that I have through MLB that works with MLB's press releases. SO IF I AM NOT CORRECT ABOUT THIS DON"T KILL THE MESSENGER! I am hearing that 2 of baseballs biggest names will be announced friday after they tested positive for steroids, i guess they appealed just like palmeiro did and that is why it took so long for this to come out. I must also tell you that my source told me about palmeiro testing positive 2 days before they announced it, so i have a reason to believe he is also right this time. A starting pitcher (old) from the astros and a center fielder from the red sox have tested positive and they will be announced and suspended come friday. That is all i have and i must say this is a BIG shock especially coming from the astros! QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) Not that this makes the whole post kinda smell funny... QUOTE(spataro51 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Hey sorry guys, at leat for the moment. I was told their was supposed to be an announcement friday about this and at this point nothing! I have tried to get into contact with my source about this and just a voicemail. This is why i put when i posted this message to "Don't kill the messenger" but we will see what happens maybe later or maybe bud is waiting to let things cool down. SURPRISE!!!!!!!
  8. They want Brandon to start every 5 days and get his innings. As the 12th pitcher he could go weeks without pitching, and that would stunt his growth.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) I'll be there to hopefully cheer on a Sox winner Good job to post in the game thread and not pin it See you and everybody else tommorrow and GO SOX!!!
  10. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) Well...Excuuuuuuuuuuuusssssse MEEEE!!!! What-eva
  11. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Did you just use "Get er Done"?!? oh Mike :headshake Was "That's the ticket!" or "Wasssup!" already being used? NOT!
  12. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) If Hermie takes care of Cuddyer on Tuesday, everything is cool. But we do need to start swinging the bats and manufacturing runs. I will confess that I'm not real thrilled to be facing Mussina, Chacon, Randy Johnson and Santana the next four games. It ain't gonna be easy. Not at all. Not to mention if Boston doesn't screw us out of finishing that game, that is another win we are probably talking about...
  13. Did he just retire and unretire like a couple of months ago? Who does he think he is Michael Jordan???
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) Unfortunately, I don't think SS2k5 is right. I think the price of oil is going to keep going up and up and up. The problem is that it's not just the U.S. economy that has a growing desire for oil...China and India both have dramatically increased their oil consumption in the last few years, and because they have such low labor costs, even if oil prices keep going up, it still remains far more cost-effective for most factories to open there. In other words, increasing oil prices may very well hurt us a lot more than it'll hurt either of them. Right now, oil supply is bumping right up against demand for oil in this world, and there's really nothing that can be done about it. Even with prices this high, the demand for oil in this country is still growing. It seems almost impossible for demand for oil to drop here without prices literally doing real damage to people...$100 a barrel or more...and even if it gets that high, it may not be enough to keep up with growth in oil demand from Asia. There just isn't enough oil left in the ground for it to be cheap. I think the big huge difference between our economy and the Chinese economies are that our disposable incomes are incredible more than China's. I think that more than makes up for the labor costs differences, and makes them much more vulnerable to an energy shock, especially when you look at their economy being incredible energy dependant because of all of the industrial output they have, and our shift to a much more information based economy. Yes we are going to feel the pinch, but nearly as hard as the Chinese will.
  15. Great you guys even have the Cub fans giving us pity. :headshake:
  16. What a perfect article. I can't say how many times I have tried to tell people to enjoy the trip instead of freaking out about the destination. Everyone flipping out all of the time, is what makes this such a miserable place to come lately. Who wants to hang out somewhere, when everyone is crying about something. I think a menstration party would be more fun than talking about the Sox on here lately.
  17. We at least we know if they get nukes, there is a good chance that they will miss...
  18. McCain/Fiengold Get er done.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 07:26 AM) Hot Chicks III - THE REVENGE OF THE POWER WOMAN! Only women in power suits can be posted. Something tells me that this contest is over before it starts, oh what a shame. Maria f***ing Bartiromo Another one I never hear mentioned is the girl who plays Piper in Charmed. She might not fit for this thread, but I am throwing her out there anyway.
  20. E-Mail Hawk too and tell the former GM he was ignorant as he basically repeated word for word what Stark published... Also email former GM Steve Phillips and tell him that he was also ignorant of the rules, and couldn't have possibly done what he claimed to have done in his chats...
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) because all the terrorists are there, and there are WMD, or maybe because we could kick their ass quickly, land on an aircraft carrier declaring we WON!, and feel good about it. "Hey honey, are you watching the news? How are things going in Iraq?" "Great, we opened another school, gas lines were repaired, and some clean drinking water is working." "Anybody die?" "There you go being negative. Support the Troops and don't talk about anyone dying." "By the way, did you hear about all of the people who were slaughtered with that genocide in Sudan?" "....."
  22. Remember you are talking to the guy who predicted $3 gas earlier this spring... $5 gas isn't that far out of the question. If we get one terror attack in the United States on the energy sector (a refinary would be the worst) Crude Oil at $100 a barrel would not shock me at all. Most likely without an extraordinary happening, we won't see anything more than where we are now. Really these prices are going to start to cripple sectors of the economy and reduce demand that way. These price levels are pretty unsustainable long term, and if they do stay here long term, we are going to have an ugly recession. And a recession wouldn't be a pretty thing now because so many people are so far in debt, that bankruptcies and foreclosures would go nuts. Like I said, personally I think we are at, or near, the highs unless we get attacked. If that happens all bets are off.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Jim golfed with Fergie Jenkins on Monday and steriods were a big topic all day. This guy and their conversations have some similarities. Not that it couldn't be true, but that particular line just screamed at me.
  24. QUOTE(spataro51 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) SO IF I AM NOT CORRECT ABOUT THIS DON"T KILL THE MESSENGER! Not that this makes the whole post kinda smell funny...
