Rotoworld predicts sox to sign Jarrod Washburn
My prediction... Rotoworld has no clue, and should stick to snarky comments after something happens.

Moving...
Housewise I have moved 8 times, soon to be 9 once we close on the new house. If you include college moves it would be more like a couple dozen.

Out of town games
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 08:24 AM) I wasn't going to start a new thread but the other one might get ugly. So who's going to an out of town Sox game this year and which game/date? I will be at Texas on 08/29. Supposedly Pods' first game back. PM me if you are going and want to meet up at the game. I wouldn't count on Pods being back for that game. Unless we are still really playing badly, they might wait until September 1st to bring him off of the DL to keep Anderson post-season eligible.

September Roster Expansion
There are a lot of things about Baseball that are completely unique to our sport. For example, baseball is the only sport where the defense controls the ball, should we get rid of that too? Also one of his big points loses a lot of luster because no one calls up 15 guys. Heck no one really calls up 10 guys even, most teams call up half a dozen guys tops.

September 1st callups
I thought Kevin Walker was DFA when he was sent to Charlotte last time? Am I mistaken?

September Roster Expansion
I think it is a great idea to be honest. Come September guys bodies are breaking down and need more rest. Plus it gives fans and teams basically a tryout situation for players, and rewards players who had great years in the upper minor leagues.

Seattle Games of Aug 27-28
Let us know what you think of the food... Supposedly Seattle is the one place that is Comiskey peer for food.

WHITE SOX WINNER!
That was a fun one. Contreras had such a nice game, no walks and only one earned run.

Around The Majors
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Any chance that Todd Helton cleared waivers or was placed on waivers? I would bet money that Helton has been on and cleared waivers. I would also make a larger bet that the Rockies would take crappier prospects than were mentioned in the Griffey deal if someone would take a huge chunk of that horrible contract.

Comments from Pauly
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Why couldn't Konerko play? Because his back was hurting him a little bit. Joe Crede is playing with 2 Herniated Discs in his back and Hermanson has such a bad back that he will need surgery after the season. I think Konerko could've at least DHd. Konerko hasn't missed games in years due to injuries. When he saids he can't go, I tend to believe he can't go. Especially as hot of a hitter has he has been, I can't imagine him wanting to take any time off right now.

ozzie what are you doing
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) And if Dye etc. went out there and got injured for a long time, you'd all be saying Ozzie made the wrong decision for not sitting him. Christ, if Ozzie walked on water, I'm sure there would be some Soxtalkers b****ing about how he didn't swim. And with the spider bites, Dye had to be hospitalized for them so it wasn't just "bug bites" as you put it. And IIRC, Southsider or somebody posted a story that discussed how they were trying to clean out the pus etc. of the infected bites which showed that the bites were pretty serious. If he went out and played with them at the time, they would have gotten more infected and he would have missed more time. Add in the fact that he wouldn't be able to slide at the time (since they were where he'd come in contact with the ground on slides), I don't think a man with a bum leg that couldn't slide would be too effective in the lineup. But maybe that's just me being sane, logical and non-retarded here seeing the idea of resting certain players especially when they're too injured to play. I see Tony posted the clip from Reiforts blog about the bites, so I don't have to elaborate on that anymore except to say if the infection spread through his body he could have died from it. I would say a few days on the bench would be worth it. For all of the loud mouth know it alls that we have, I wonder how many go to the emergency room everytime they get an upset tummy?

Iraqi constitution
The Sunnis refuse to be a part of anything that doesn't involve them staying in power like they did in the days under Saddam. Back then they had a practical monopoly over all of the power and the resources of the country. Now that it looks like they are going to be at least a minority in the power structure, they have resorted to guerilla warfare on their fellow countrymen, and have refused to be a part of elections and of any constitution that doesn't keep their power. Really there isn't much that is going to change here.

A.J. Burnett
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Wow, please explain how you feel that way. Did you not read the Tribune article the other day saying how we've spent almost all of our money on contracts for next year? They said that based on two big assumptions, #1 that payroll stays flat to moderately increased, which I have demonstrated a history that saids exactly the opposite, and #2, you are assuming everyone comes back, and I think we all know that isn't going to happen. Not with Thomas hurt, Konerko the biggest 1B on the market, and such.

Maybe it's just me....
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 02:09 AM) Genius s s s s s. Sorry, I don't buy it. We couldn't hit Shawn Chacon hard. We didn't make hard outs. This team swings at more bad pitches than any in memory. If they make the playoffs, I'll be happy, at this point. This team lacks a guy who can get the job done on the offensive side. Chacon has had a 2.16 era since coming over to the AL, I don't think we are the only ones not hitting him.

ozzie what are you doing
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Even if you don't count Paulie today, Ozzie has been manipulating the lineup way too much. Why is always 2 or 3 guys per night? It's stupid. Do you have any clue what is going on in the lockerroom? You don't know that other guys have nagging injuries that are bothering them which Ozzie is trying to get rest for. You also have to realize that giving people days off can keep them fresh and help prevent minor strains and pulls that happen when the body gets too fatigued.

Steroid Announcement Friday?
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) Get over it people. Its not like Soxtalk was the only place discussing this rumor. Sure it was one of the places it originated (but their was at least some smoke to this and who knows, something may still happen...I guess we'll see). However, I don't like it when respectable posters say something trying to pass us information and get burned. They aren't Bruce Levine (Who people love to rip because he gives us rumors that don't come true...doesn't mean that the stuff he hears isn't true either). I love the fact that people are willing to share stuff with us here and ripping people for doing that just isn't cool in my book. And all that does is encourage people not to post what they know, which I know for a fact has started to happen with many posters. By being ignorant about stuff like this, it is everybody who misses out on what is going on, because no one wants to share info. It makes it not worth it.

Missile fired at US Navy Ship!
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) Let's not forget about Russia -- they've got weapons but they don't know where the f*** they all are. No doubt. Then again if we keep ended up with Chinese spies in our nuclear labs, it might not matter anyway.

When it Rains it Pours.
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) If this team chokes, and doesn't make the playoffs, this offseason would be more about who we get rid of than who we add. We don't have a lot of money to spend. How do you figure that? We have had a projected 20% increase in attendance and we are losing a bunch of salaries after this season. We are looking at a big bump in payroll.

Is Greg Walker's job in jeopardy?
Unless Greg Walker injured Frank Thomas, Paul Konerko, Scott Podsednik, and Carl Everett, I think he is just fine.

Look at the bright side
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) Do people actually want us to fail? There are some people on here would maybe not up front, but underneath it all would love to see the White Sox collapse because then they could run around screaming "I told you so". Heck a few people have already started. I swear many hear get more enjoyment out of I told you so, than they do out of watching a game of baseball that includes their favorite team. For me it all comes down to a bad day of White Sox baseball, is still better than most anything else. The day I start to obsess about what went wrong, and what could go wrong, would be the day I quit watching it. It wouldn't be fun anymore, and that is what a spectator sport is supposed to be all about, enjoyment. Why watch the White Sox if it isn't any fun. Win or lose shouldn't matter, getting away from the stresses of your life for 3 hours is what should matter. Baseball is a game, and some people need to take that back into perspective. Its all about the love of the game for me, not the love of "I told you so".

White Sox Offense
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) I know this has been discussed quite a bit and everything. I just saw a very surprising stat while watching Sportscenter a minute ago.... The White Sox offense has scored a total of 2 runs in the last 36 innings they have played in. I don't know about you guys but I think Ozzie needs to look at this and do something...anything. For the love of god. What should Ozzie do about the lack of offense?

Missile fired at US Navy Ship!
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) I think nukes are kind of like horseshoes, where a miss still counts. And if they ever did get a hold of nukes that could be fired from a portable launcher, they'd have to be one of our soon to be ready cute li'l bunker busters that someone sorta left lying around. I know I didn't use green, but that was a joke. Also I am sure with all of the great and honorable nuclear powers that the UN is allowing into exsistance, terrorists don't need us, I am sure Kim Jung Il, or China, or Pakistan would be more than happy to sell them whatever they need.
