  1. Thanks for the forward. It will be nice to see him back in action. Get well soon!!!
  2. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ May 10, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) Slider low and away... Followed by fastballs above his hands and in.
  3. Its a really tough call. I would basically call Anderson untouchable, but is anyone REALLY untouchable with a chance to win the World Series? I guess it would depend mostly on how the pen looked at that point in time. If we were getting the kinds of efforts out of Marte and Hermanson that we are now, I might be tempted to stay the course, or see if I could find another closer for cheaper.
  4. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ May 10, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) I am 28 and Brian turned 33 today. We live in the Mount Greenwood area of Chicago. Tell Brian Happy Birthday from all of us strangers
  5. CTA wants funding changes. The governor wants the CTA to "stop scaring people" and also wants to see their books. http://www.nbc5.com/news/4471559/detail.ht...994&dppid=65192
  6. Nevermind, I got it figured out...

I want to add a subtitle to my blog, but I am not sure what the code for it is. Can anyone help? I also need to know where to put it in the template so it shows up correctly. Thanks
  8. The always classic... 15 Things to do at Wal-Mart while your spouse/partner is taking their sweet time: 1. Get 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's carts when they aren't looking. 2. Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals. 3 Make a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the rest rooms.(my favorite) 4 Walk up to an employee and tell him/her in an official tone, 'Code 3' in housewares..... and see what happens. 5 Go the Service Desk and ask to put a bag of M&M's on lay away. 6 Move a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area. 7 Set up a tent in the camping department and tell other shoppers you'll invite them in if they'll bring pillows from the bedding department. 8 When a clerk asks if they can help you, begin to cry and ask 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' 9 Look right into the security camera; use it as a mirror, and pick your nose. 10 While handling guns in the hunting department, ask the clerk if he knows where the anti-depressants are. 11 Dart ! around the store suspiciously loudly humming the "Mission Impossible" theme. 12 In the auto department, practice your "Madonna look" using different size funnels. 13 Hide in a clothing rack and when people browse through, say "PICK ME!" "PICK ME!" 14 When an announcement comes over the loud speaker, assume the fetal position and scream "NO! NO! It's those voices again!!!!" ( And last, but not least!) 15 Go into a fitting room and shut the door and wait a while; and, then, yell, very loudly, "There is no toilet paper in here!"
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 10, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) I think we need to stop trying to examine the personal details of Willie Harris's life and let the family mourn in peace. Thanks for saying that Yas.

  11. Bull is currently on the DL, as he has had some back problems, and now has a slight muscle pull in his arm. Before that he had been anchoring the Birmingham staff as its #1 starter. Jim's numbers were 2-1 with a 2.60 era. In 5 starts he had pitched 17 1/3 IP (leaving two starts early because of injury) giving up 15 hits, walking 5, and striking out 12 batters.
  12. The latest update on Baj is that he has a solid scoreless innings streak going on. Currently he is 1-0 with 1 save for a 9 win Charlotte team with an 0.71 era in 12 2/3 IP. Over that span he has only gave up 5 hits, but has given up 8 walks. He also has 11 Ks.
  13. 3 of the 5 front page articles in today's Tribune are about the Sox (the others were Cubs and Pacers), plus this one on page 3 about the always classy Jerry Manuel. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines
  14. QUOTE(T R U @ May 10, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) im just saying... most people have a love fest for him because he posts here, I just dont think he will ever be a good ML pitcher.. And he might not. But for people to base that off of just 25 days in the majors, and throwing out what he has done in the minors, is just retarded.
  15. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 10, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) Ozzie the airdale thinks we got ripped off so it must be true. Maybe we will lose a few more games so he can finally come back and explain why..
  16. We had a request from one of our members to have a thread started where posters would give their age, and where they were from, so that we could get a better idea of who we were talking to. I'll start... I am 31 and have been born, raised and still live in Michigan City, IN.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 9, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) Definitely nothing wrong with bringing your glove to a game no matter how old you are. I definitely wouldn't be celebrating though if I caught an opposing teams homer, that ball would go to some little kid some where. I still do it, and I probably will until I know the mitt won't do any good.
  18. This years list of ex-Cub pitchers with huge years is just staggering. Basically every pitcher they have ever let walk away is having a huge year. It will be interesting to see if they trade another young arm away to get a SS and/or Closer.
  19. One more thing about the weak schedule arguement is that the Twins have basically played the same teams that we have. Pretty much we play them, and then the Twins play 'em, and vice versa. I know that doesn't apply on a full AL level, but it is apt in the ALC arguement.
  20. Wow, just when you think you have heard it all, Sammy comes up with another classic.
  21. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 10, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) We don't need Frank in our line up? Have you looked at our team OBP lately? I can't believe anyone could possible think that and consider it logical. I don't know how long it will take Frank to get his swing back, but we all know that he will get walks in the meantime.
  22. QUOTE(T R U @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Yeah, Baj was great with us when he was called up last season Until he shows anything even close to being decent on the ML level I am not getting my hopes up on a minor league ERA I could go back and dig up tons of player stats showing bad September's and even awful years of pitchers who went on to be studs, but I doubt it would make a difference...
  23. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 10, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) I wish I'd see what you just wrote more often from a lot more people. Make your point ,admit there's 2 sides to every argument and quit beating a dead horse.
  24. QUOTE(Spiff @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) If people did that more often this place would die from lack of interest. This is the most true thing ever said in the history of Soxtalk, and internet message boards in general.
  25. Pinned for SnR's f***ing pleasure
