Hawk to the DL
QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 4, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't move Rooney to the TV broadcasts, Bryan Dolgin to replace him on the radio PBP (since he did PBP for the Jackhammers), & bring in Carmen DeFalco to do pre/post. That actually would be a great move. Rooney does a ton of TV stuff in the off-season and is a natural at it. Then we could move Defalco into the radio booth for a few games.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(Steff @ May 4, 2005 -> 05:12 AM) We got to get into the park a little after 5 yesterday and got to see Frank hitting... He was placing the ball all over the field with solid hits.. hitting several just short of the wall. Ran a bit as well. Looked good. Claims he feels no pain just a bit of stiffness. Positive news IMO. With the Sox win, Twins loss, and Cubs loss, this still might be the best news all night.

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 4, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) Almost ten million exactly. We are currently 13th i believe in pay roll. And it has increased $25 million in two years, from $51 million in 2003. That is a 50% increase for those who are keeping score at home. I would venture to guess that the Sox have probably had the highest percentage increase the last two year in payroll, in all of baseball. The attendance threads get so damned annoying because it is never the people who go to games who complain. If Quick, or Jim, or Steff, who puts up $10,000 a year wanted to complain about attendance I might care. Those guys put their money where their mouths are. The people who start these threads always have an excuse not to be there... I'm in school, I don't have any money, its too cold, KC sucks. There is always something. And it is hypocracy as far as I am concerned. Who is a guy sitting at home on his computer during a game, to lecture everyone else at home on a computer during a game, about getting out to to a game. And seriously anyone who expected a big attendance night for the Kansas City Royals (the WORST team in baseball by far) on a Tuesday night with the temps near freezing and the winds off of the Lake is delusional. Completely delusional. The White Sox just had their highest April attendance since 1994, and that is minus having any legitimate drawing team come to Chicago. People ARE coming to the ballpark. To harp on one night is to point out one night that Ichiro goes ohfer and wonder why he isn't hitting. It ignores the bigger trend and the realities of what is really going on. And I am sick of that too. Be a smarter fan than that. Know your facts if you are going to get into this discussion.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) It was 42 degrees and on my weather tracker from weatherchannel.com doesn't suggest winds blowing from the lake. Sorry, that's a poor excuse a 1st place team after April shouldn't draw less than 20,000 fans. I'm sorry, but that's the way it is. Now if there isn't anyone there tommorow, then most White Sox fans should not b**** or whine about the White Sox and shouldn't have say in what the GM or manager or whoever is doing because simply, you are not paying for the product at all. Therefore, you don't deserve to criticize it. Can't believe some people suggest the White Sox should get more seating to make up for the loss of the 8 rows of the UD. We can't even fill the ballpark now, there's no point in wasting money in putting in more seats. Were you in Chicago at all today? It was damned cold. Definately not worth spending that much money for.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) Yeah, maybe if it was the weekend... Seriously though, make-or-break this weekend. No excuses. Let's get out there and support this damn team. We are on the road this weekend. We leave town after the KC series. We come home next Thursday against Baltimore, and we have sold over 20K tickets for each game already. That series will probably go over 120k if the Sox do anything on this road trip.

MLB #1 Pick
QUOTE(AirScott @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) in the rookie draft this June, do the Arizona Diamondbacks or Kansas City Royals hold the first pick? I thought it was the Royals, it being an odd-numbered year, but Peter Gammons recently said in his column that the D'Backs will be selecting Justin Upton with the first pick this year. so, in short, who picks first? I am pretty sure they did away with the alternating league thing. I think it is the worst team that always will pick first now.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) Well its not as if Kruk is wrong on this... the Sox have the best record in the ML and only 12,000 people show up to the game... given thought I wasn't there so f*** me too lol He IS wrong on this. The Sox just had their best April Attendance mark since 1994. There are more people coming out to the park. He is just too damned lazy to do some research.

Closer
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) I am saying Shingo... the guy has some of the nastiest stuff...he just has to throw more strikes. He will be fine. Book it!! Not just strikes. he HAS to work ahead of hitters to be effective.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) I've had the feeling that they were letting DJ do some play by play for a reason TBH. I have a fear that they are setting DJ up for when Hawk quits one day...now thats a scary thought. Hopefully Dave Wills comes back here then.

kruk called us out.
And obviously he didn't hall his fat ass into the upper 30's with winds off of the lake either. He might be easier to listen to challenge someone if he didn't quit in the middle of the season, and the middle of a game for that matter, because his batting average was at a pretty round number. :fyou John Kruk. Try Atkins.

Closer
Until tonight I would have said Dustin, based on this season. But I think we just saw the realigning of the planets tonight with Shingo.

Hopefully this is the 2k5 turning point for Shingo. He went from 3-0 on his first hitter to a 3 up 3 down 9th with 2 Ks.
