  1. You have a lockout and cancel the CBA apparently.
  2. Holy crap is that a bucket full of guys. Wow.
  3. I won't call $3 million expensive.
  4. Well, seeing the statements about Kelly being hurt, Kopech being behind, the general limitations on starters pitches early, makes the reason for this signing all of the more obvious. He's a body.
  5. I don't need a new BMW, but I sure wouldn't be upset about one.
  6. This could be an underrated pull with an MiLB deal structure.
  7. I think they will add a RF, but I am really afraid it will be Castellanos.
  8. When visas are involved, that is literally impossible.
  9. Unless the Twins are planning on Correa or some other home run signing, I have no idea what they are doing, besides cutting salary.
  10. I really hope Gavin is what a lot of people convinced himself he is, but we are talking about 180 PAs, where the league didn't have much time to adjust to him, and most of those ABs were being cherry picked to give certain guys a rest, and Sheets a chance to do something. We have seen so many guys like this and come up an have a big run, but once pitchers get the book out on them, they fade back away and are never heard from again. The Daniel Palka's and Yermin Mercedes of the world. The crazy thing is, even with his big splits, his lack of defense got him 0.2 WAR or 0.4 on Fangraphs, in a third of a season.
  11. Going to put in a guess here and guess the roster spot will stall this deal being "official" for a little bit. This could well be a case of needing to clear Kimbrel, to get a slot open, and not needing to waive someone to do it.
  12. When the strawman exercise isn't really of intellectual value, it is a waste of everyone's time. In this case bathwater is pre-pissed in. For example, in this case the argument is that the Sox percentage of payroll is too great to the bullpen. So in other words, it would be worse to bring on Ohtani to play RF, because he gets paid so little, and would further contribute to our payroll being out of balance, versus trading for someone like Cano who makes a ton of money, but would put a big payroll number in the OF, and bring us back into balance. It essentially argues that it is a bad thing to have two cost controlled young superstar potential players in LF and CF, because it doesn't allow a high enough percentage of our payroll to go to OFs, instead allowing us to spend on RPs, or other ownership perceived weak-spots. Any argument that has that big of flaws in it to tell us that Cano would be a better fit for the Sox than Ohtani is, to borrow a phrase, Stoopid. Look we don't need a big RF because we didn't give huge free agent contracts out to the other two OFs, or give Robert and Eloy bigger than needed deals to keep some made up theory in balance, we need a big RF because we haven't gotten any production out of the ones we have had out there recently, and it gives us a better chance to win the regular season and in October.
  13. Yes, you found your definition. Congrats. Now hopefully you understand that making up some standard by which teams have to spend money, without understanding that external factors can render that theory useless, is the very definition of a strawman.
  14. It started with the ridiculous strawman about allocation.
