  1. Sounds like the Rays should fire their training staff, as they don't have vision.
  2. Holy crap. The just took a five year span of burning this to the ground, getting amazing returns, even in hindsight, for the players they originally had on the roster, and turning this into a playoff team last year, and a first place team this year. We have six of our own 1st round draft picks on this roster. You can nitpick all you want at some of the moves along the way, but you can't say they don't have vision. You might not like their vision, but they also have some fairly solid results to back up what they have done so far.
  3. I am still OK with a wait and see approach on both of these guys. Rodon has a terrible injury history. He is either going to get hurt, or he is going to pitch a crazy number of innings which he hasn't approached since 2016. Lynn has fallen apart since the sticky stuff busts started happening. If that is causal or coincidence remains to be seen, and could make a HUGE difference in what he is worth.
  4. If the Sox wanted Micker for Merrifield, 28 other teams would have already beaten that offer. KC has been asking for the moon for Whit, which is why he is still in KC.
  5. Yes, because Rando message board posters are qualified to comment on what makes a quality training staff. I would like to see your credentials on this topic if that is your standard. The ONE PERSON here who has a background in this area seems to feel the pandemic is the issue. What makes you more qualified to understand what is going on here than he is?
  6. Going to guess with the way that Gonzalez has played in SSS, it is a pitcher that goes down
  7. I think Hector Gomez just posted the Sox are the leaders in the clubhouse for his services in Jan of 2033
  8. There is a record number of IL trips this year in MLB. MiLB is signing record numbers of independent league players to make up for their huge run of injuries plus the MLB injuries which they are having to cover. There are people who think we should be firing the entire training staff because of injuries. Cespedes hasn't played in twice as long as those guys, and it walking into a team 6 weeks late. His #1 ranking in the international class by one publication be damned. He wasn't ranked #1 by another other group, nor is he is the Sox top prospect. if he didn't have the one #1 attached to his name, no one would have a special worry about his status. That is the definition of panic. With all of the leg inuries around baseball and the White Sox this year, you would think that the quickest way to do something would be to get him a major leg injury after years of not playing.
  9. Some fun names to watch! I take it Vera is at DSL for the season?
  10. I never said anything about out of shape, you did. There is a difference settling in and being in shape. And honestly with as many players as are getting hurt this year after a much shorter layoff, I can't say that the Sox are taking the wrong approach here. He will play OF soon enough, I am not worried about it. Again you also left out the part where I also mentioned that he walked into a team that had already been playing for 6 weeks with guys established in their spots too. The guy hasn't played baseball for two years, it doesn't really matter what his one ranking was. His ranking has nothing to do with it. In fact the opposite, I think the panic is because of his ranking. Pretend he is anybody else, and let him hit for a while. He'll get there. Honestly, it might not even be this year, but he will get there.
  11. Uh no. He directly blamed the Sox training staff for these injuries. There was nothing about looking to see what was causing the injuries. They can investigate all they want, and Rick Hahn already said they would, but when a large trend is right in front of you, odds are pretty high it is the trend, and firing your training staff in the middle of the season will cause more problems than it fixes, and probably create a lot of others.
  12. It is also worth noting that Tampa has the 2nd worst fan base in baseball, and doesn't show up to games anyway, so there aren't any real consequences for them anyway.
  13. Unless you are equating Hunter Stickland, a 32 year old journeyman reliever who has been with now three teams this year, making $1.6 million, and a free agent after this season to Yoan Moncada, I don't see the comparison here. To my eye this is closer to the Sox trading Evan Marshall than Yoan Moncada.
  14. They might do it in the off season, but Tampa has never done it while in first place at the deadline. That's the difference. If the Sox were to trade their best players right now they might as well move the team, because the fan base will riot, and justifiably so.
  15. Unless that "prospect " is Kopech, KC isn't listening. They can get much more for him.
  16. Is this a kid trying to force his way down to a preferred team?
  17. Oh I fully believe people are scared. But their reasons to be scared are garbage for the most part.
  18. It's somewhere between what Yolmer is making and what Eloy is making. Pay it and move on.
  19. If trading Jake Burger gets us another piece for this team, drive him to MDW and put him on the plane. Maybe he ends up as a solid major leaguer, but he has significant talent in front of him every where he can play. Deal him and move on.
  20. The only people saying this are the ones not believing in science anyway. Data isn't the problem. People believing Russian propaganda about covid is the problem.
