  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 03:32 PM) Thanks. That makes a lot more sense. Though going through the names of recent Tommy John plaers, I'm still not too encouraged Who is the last elite SP to have not made it back from TJ? Wainwright had it, still a boss. Stras had it, still a boss Zimmerman had it, came back even better. AJ burnnet, Anibal Sanchez, and CJ Wilson are all still top of the rotation guys. Bundy was said to have a FB consistently in the high 90's to go along with 3 other good pitches...Even if he comes back throwing in the low 90's (which probably won't be the case) he still has the potential to be an ace. Fun fact, of the 360 opening day pitchers 124 have had TJ surgery at one point, over 1/3rd. Or so says bleacher report anyway.
  2. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 10:59 AM) But no mention of mystery team...telling? What is the Rays bullpen situation?? With Rodney and Peralta as righties out of the pen Crain doesn't make much sense....Alex Torres is also putting up better numbers than Rodney did in 2012, a 0.29 era. That's 1 run 31 innings. Maybe Crain goes to the mystery team.
  3. Wonder if they've given up on Beckham?....Tim Beckham that is.
  4. To go along with the fail rate of prospects that has been talked about....Middlebrooks was the Red Sox top prospect 2 years ago....He very well could be in the midst of the dreaded sophomore slump though so I wouldn't add him to that percentage just yet.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 06:30 PM) Well, Gerrit Cole picked and ate a booger on TV today And failed to get you a point in fantasy baseball....I'm sure glad my fantasy baseball team is doing so well otherwise baseball would be so much more miserable right now....I put a lot of stock in the soxtalk leagues because I know I'm playing against people who know their baseball. #NoOneCares
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 12:57 AM) I saw your comments before they got archived. I'm being serious. I must be Dayan's bad luck cause if he's 9-18 I've seen none of the hits and a lot of those 9 outs. Whether Robin is good or bad, he's the leader of one of the worst teams in Sox history. Not good. He's had a hit in 6 of the last 7 games, reached base in 9 of the last 10. Maybe you should do us all a favor and stop watching all together =p He was also the leader of one of the most fundamentally sound teams in recent memory last year. I'd give him 1 more year to break the tie of fundamentally bad vs fundamentally awful.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 10:26 PM) Getting caught up with this thread after Mass/dinner. Why? He needs to learn how to walk and we also needed a baserunner IMO. How's he EVER gonna walk again if he swings 3-0. Hope you are right! I haven't watched enough games of late. He still makes an out whenever I'm watching, but I hope you are right. It'd be very nice if Dayan wasn't a big fat bust. LOL. Enjoyed that post. Be careful. Whenever I rip one of our relievers I get blasted big time on here. Hey. You are offending the Ozzie lovers on this board. Wait ... I'm the only one in that club. Though I'm sure this will get lost in the archives.... To your 1st reply- Good fastball hitters should always get the 3-0 green light IMO. Tank is a good fastball hitter. 2nd- Funny how you only seem to watch when bad things happen. Or maybe you just choose to ignore the good while you dwell on the bad. Tank is 9 for his last 18. 3rd- I agree with your Lol of that post lol...I have hope for Beckhams power coming back but sadly I can't wait to see PK retire. 4th- I believe he was sarcastic in that post. 5th- Yes, yes you are. I can't imagine how much s*** Oz would be talking about this team, though it would probably be truthful, I don't want a manager who's gonna throw players under the bus.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:12 PM) The fact that one of them is a 1b catches the eye immediately as that's IMO our biggest position of need right now. And he's a Hoosier, Sox loves them some Hoosiers.
  9. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) Looks like Boston has some interest in Lindstrom. http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2013/7/28/4564...ires-jake-peavy I'd love to get Betts and/or Johnson for Matt like this article suggests. Betts looks like a fun prospect to follow. 1. His names Mookie and 2. He can take a walk. Johnson was a 2 way player at Florida and he's pitching really well right now in A ball(opponents hitting under .200 against him).
  10. Maybe it's because I'm a Gordon Beckham fan and hope what we have seen from him this year is what we'll get consistently for the future butttt....I'm not a fan of Wong being the offensive player we get back. Yes he's showed more power this year in the minors than Gordo but I think once that wrist fully heals those 2 guys will be pretty much the same player. Martinez and Kelly though I'm intrigued by. I don't necessarily think the Sox need to add pitching at all but it could certainly open up future trades to improve the team.
  11. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:38 PM) He was 20 in AA last year. It's pretty impressive that he's holding his own. Started out in the minor leagues at 17 though. 3 years to get to AA doesn't seem that impressive.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:48 PM) That play was a little tougher than we're making it seem. If he stays at third and the ball hits the ground (especially with no dive), he can't score. He basically had to decide in mid-air if it was more likely to be caught or not caught. He thought it wouldn't be caught, because of course it shouldn't have been. This. Though I have no idea how good Loughs arm is. If he lets the ball drop and makes an accurate throw Rios is cooked anyway. All of Loughs momentum was going toward home plate.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:36 PM) He was so bad yesterday. I don't see how any GM would give up anything of value for this guy. Hate to be so negative, but Lindstrom? He's just another Boone Logan type of pitcher IMO. Just another guy. His value went down a good deal yesterday sure but they can still get something of value for him....Here's a guy who hasn't given up a home run in over 50 innings pitched who before yesterday had a mid 2 era. Much like teams aren't going to give up on Rios over that base running play like you think they will, teams won't give up on Matt after 1 bad outing. still though he won't bring back anything that sexy.
  14. Not giving up a home run all year is a plus. Bad timing with that outing yesterday though. Might as well take what you can get though.
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 10:08 AM) You have to make the Cardinals pay more than that. Butler and Blazek are C prospects; Adams is their backup 1B and figures to stay there. WE could use Adams, but not for this trade. I agree with the above comment - do that for Alexei and Lindstrom. While I agree they need to give up a little more in a deal for Peavy/Lexi.. 1. I wouldn't really call Blazek or Butler a C prospect, they both look to be back end of the bullpen guys. If the Sox plan on moving Crain, Lindstrom, and who knows maybe even Reed and Jones picking up those 2 relievers would be nice (if we can get a little bit more). 2. That deal is not gonna happen for Lexi and Lindstrom. They don't need Lindstrom and Lexi alone isn't going to bring back a potential middle of the lineup bat and 2 potential closers. If they add a guy like Piscotty to the trade I think I'd do it. We have all talked about the value of relief pitching being high on the trade market so getting these 2 RPs and a middle of the lineup bat would be 1 decent prospect away for Peavy and Lexi.
  16. QUOTE (kwill @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 01:00 AM) Question: If the Cards offered Tavares,Wong,Martinez along with some lottery picks for Sale and Alexi would you take it? I would just on the pure upside of the deal. That would be three top 50 prospects and would probably make the White Sox a top 10 farm system right off the bat. Throw in Adams and I'd really have to think about. Maybe replace Wong with Adams and add Blazek.
  17. While he's this hot and in a lost season? Sure why not. Over the last month he's out produced Garin Cecchini in every category but SBs by 1.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:12 PM) Fathom, you know your baseball ... am I out of line in thinking Rios will attract nothing of value? Why would Texas want a guy who can't catch a deep drive in right field and is hitting .276. with 12 homers and 49 RBIs? Also 21 stolen bases which I guess is above average to give him credit there. What is so good about Rios that Texas would NEED him? His numbers do not scream, 'all-star.' Bringing up his fantasy rank is a little weak but it'll give you a better idea of how he stacks up to other outfielders...Rios is the 19th ranked outfielder in the whole league. 16th over the last 14 days, and 2nd for over the last 7....He can do a lot of things for a team like Texas who is in a pennant race and will have lost 1 or maybe 2 hitters for the rest of the season.....They aren't gonna get the Stantons or the Bautistas or the Encarnacions like they want so Rios is the next best thing...If they don't acquire another bat they are basically waiving a white flag for this season. Rios very well could be the best bat available. You're just to hung up on this TWTW and money BS to realize it.
  19. Sure would loves me some Matt Adams. Blazek looks like he could be a good get as well, though with Jones and Reed I wish he was left handed. Swap out Butler for something a little sexier and I'd take it.
  20. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 06:15 AM) No way can he play shortstop. Too big for the position and doesn't have the range. His power will develope 20-25 homer power. Love his potential and his on base rate. We don't have anyone in our lineup with that potential. Huge fan of Cecchini and love his potential at 3b I wouldn't say 6'2" 200 is too big for SS...Tulo is 6'4" 215. You would think someone who stole 51 bags would have a pretty good first step, speed, and thus good range... I just don't see how we can project him to be a 20-25 HR hitter when he's shown very little little power so far. I'm looking at his HS stats and even with an aluminum bat he didn't show of a lot of power. I saw an article about Cecchini saying he's breaking the mold of what a 3rd baseman is typically thought of due to his lack of power and his base stealing, and that's cool and all but I'm just afraid with Lexi and Beckhams disappearing power that we won't have enough pop to garner having a 3rd baseman who's "breaking the mold".....holy run on sentences batman.
  21. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 12:28 AM) Well can he? Another poster here said that there have been talks of moving him to SS/2B. I also saw that he was a SS in high school and the only reason he was moved to 3rd was because of Bogaerts.
  22. Jake, me and you were the only ones who were worried about Cecchinis lack of power. I've changed my mind on him if he moves to a middle infield position, have you done the same? As a 3rd baseman? No thanks. As a SS? Yes plz. I went from iffy to ecstatic about the though of acquiring him. He's moved ahead of Owings on my wishlist if e really can play SS.
  23. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 07:00 PM) I've read about garin moving to SS or 2nd too If that's the case I'd love to have him. I said yesterday that I don't want him as a 3B due to what looks like a lack of power but at SS his power could actually be a plus. Just recognized his speed yesterday, he'd be a great leadoff hitter. I assume with the speed to steal 51 bags he's got the speed to cover short.
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) So what do you want, a guy with less talent and less track record? He's a major big league talent who just so has happened to succeed at the big league level. There's uncertainty with everyone, but he's a pretty damn good bet. It's all moot anyway, as I don't think they'd part with him for anyone except a Sale level arm. It all matters on what they wanna do with McCann, I can see them wanting to hold onto him. He's a local guy who's loved out there. If they do decide to keep him then they have no room for Gattis. It's possible, but doubtful.....He's who I'd want though.
