2nd Base I guess it’s going to be Sosa or Gonzalez?
I’m not anti rookie, but rookies usually struggle at some, point if not right away. A supposed championship window isn’t when you usually put that much on them. Who do they have to give Colas a break if he needs if? Who do they have if he struggles? He might be great right away, but it’s unlikely. And they are doing it at 2B as well. Why can’t they ever really go for it?

It’s not realistic but they are nowhere near $250 million. They lost Abreu and got Pollock to leave. If you are in a championship window, a fan base should expect the payroll to rise each year as core players generally have thei salaries increase. Clevinger hopefully can do what Cueto did last year. Benintendi should help. I like Colas as a prospect, but you are putting a lot on him and either Sosa or Romy and possibly Perez behind the plate. It’s not like the Sox have an upper echelon farm system. There should have been better options. I think they will be better, but if you look at White Sox history under JR, after disappointing seasons, they usually bounce back and win 85. I will admit I am sick of the team hoping to win instead of trying their best to win.

Totally disagree. A team really thinking they are a championship contender doesn't rely almost exclusively on rookies, and not exactly top 50 prospects at that, to cover 2 positions. They need help at catcher. MLBTR had a piece the other day showing their weakest positions last season were C and RF, and they did nothing. I am sure a couple of these guys are going to bounce back, but all of them? And they aren't going to be hurt most of the time/ I think teams that say they are contenders should act like it.

It just amazes me how unaggressive this front office is. And for whatever reason. They were given a gift when Pollock didnt exercise his option, yet they almost couldn't be less aggressive. SHOW US YOU WANT TO WIN FOR ONCE.

The Vikings aren't playing for anything. It's a glorified pre season game. Keep everyone you want around next season off the field.

I read where they are 4 if they win and the others lose.

And now they are saying the fact that they called the game shows just how much they care about the players. It's such a joke.

It would be so Bears if they win and get the #4 pick. And you know if they win, Houston will too.

A friend of mine is a doctor and he thinks he’s got commotio cordis. Basically a shot to the chest that causes the heart to stop. Kids have died getting it from getting hit with baseballs. He said that that the quick medical action could save him, but was concerned they were working on him with CPR for so long.

This Day In Sox History...January 2
Finley sold about the same time Veeck did. Decent chance JR would have owned the A’s.

The case for Elvis Andrus @ 2nd Base
Too much Elvis Kool aide here. 74 wRC+ from 2018-2021. Little chance he replicates his lin drive rate he had with the Sox which was over double his career rate and 20% of his flyballs were going over the wall. This is almost guaranteed to regress to the mean. And someone is going to have to pay at least a little bit more based on his 2022 numbers. If he would take total peanuts with incentives, fine, but chances are he would be no better just more expensive than the in house options.

So the White Sox have no chance.

We suck, so . . . why?
The pitch clock is going to help. I think it will help not only slice off a half hour a game, but it will increase offense.

Sell the Team
Compared to the Bears, they are a first class organization. JR wouldn’t f*** up the Arlington Park option. Watch what the McCaskeys do.

You have to get Fields out of this game. .

Sell the Team
They will want a new park. The last 3 years of the lease, the state doesn’t have to upgrade. We will start hearing about this in the next couple of years. I’m sure the Sox were/are counting on being really good when they have to start holding their hats out for subsidies. It is going to be interesting watching it play out. No way they get a state of the art new stadium built totally on the taxpayer dime.

Rumor: TLR will (NOT*) be present for ST *update
I don’t mind the jingle. I think Stacey King singing it spurred the rest who do on. If you can’t stand it, you know exactly when it’s coming. Hit mute for 4 or 5 seconds.

I like the way you’re thinking here. Go get a real secondbaseman or let these guys battle.

What happened to all the interesting trade ideas Hahn was speaking of a few weeks ago?

Sell the Team
Where they do get money is additional deals with Guaranteed Rate. For instance, GR is the "official" mortgage company of the White Sox. And they sponsor giveaways. Stuff like that.

Sell the Team
Yes, the White Sox don't collect on this. It makes no sense.
