  1. 6'9". touched 98. MLBN guy said they had him in the middle of round 1 before he got mono. Other than 1st round HS pitchers usually disappoint, he has some potential.
  2. Really worried about Robert. This is not normal and might explain some of his curious routes in the field lately. Playing 2 short in the biggest seies of the season with the All Star break coming to take some of those IL days is weird.
  3. Read about late strains. They average. A out 3.5 months missed. He'll be lucky to return this season.
  4. I'm not giving up on Eloy. The talent is there for an easy 40 HR guy. Somehow he has to figure out how to remain healthy and he will be the position player version of Rodon.
  5. He’s been hitting the ball pretty hard lately. I was there on Sunday and he hit 3 or 4 balls on the nose and maybe had 1 hit.
  6. Most A ball players make $500 a week, AA $600 a week, AAA $700 a week, and that is only during the season. Getting your own place is going to trim the food budget to cat food. The guys who received big bonuses should be fine, but the vast majority can’t do it.
  7. Especially when you are willing to blow $9 million on a couple of months of Yonder Alonso. The money they waste every year at the major league level would be enough to house and feed minor leaguers in luxury for decades. I guess the mentality is the vast majority won't make it, but why not give everyone the best chance to do it?
  8. I want the Sox to sweep, but if they do that means more Tony for sure, even if that report has any truth in it. Just win.
  9. Hope hes OK. The leg was never 100%.
  10. It shouldn't be that tough for an athlete of TAs level to get away from a batted ball on the bases between 2nd and 3rd. I can't remember ever seeing a runner hit by a batted ball between 2nd and 3rd.
  11. He started having good ABs and hitting the ball pretty hard last weekend.
  12. For fuck sake, he's 140 feet away from the ball. It could have easily been avoided.
  13. IMO it's because sports teams are usually owned by business people who made a ton of money, so were very successful running other buisinesses, and its the only way they know how. But pro sports doesn't work that way, especially for winning. You have to take big gambles, you have to be prepared to lose lots of money at times Profits can't be that high on the priority list,if you really want to be a team that wins all the time. JR is fiscally conservative. That can work in other businesses, but it's not going to bring you titles in MLB.
  14. For sure, but not someone who is going to go on the radio and bring more attention to the craziness of the White Sox manager. I think Ozzie has a perfect job on the pre and post game show. Low stress, probably makes a decent amount, and he is insightful and entertaining.
  15. If Ozzie had a 1% chance of replacing LaRussa, it's out the window now. Even if they thought he might be the guy, this type of stuff, even though most of us find it entertaining, is not what they want.
  16. Yeah, who would have guessed Robert would get hurt. Eloy would get hurt, Grandal would get hurt, Lynn would have a knew issue only 50 lbs overweight and a lifetime of pitching putting pressure on it, TA would get hurt, Engel would get hurt, Pollock would get hurt....you would almost have to think it happens every year not to be shocked..wait. If the Sox championship window is predicated on these players staying healthy, it's almost more crazy than it being predicated on each having a career year.

The thing is, teams failing always use other teams that failed but somehow turned it around as the example of the pace they are on. The problem is, the chances of crap like that happening all the time are zero. I am old enough to remember when the White Sox had a 2-0 lead over Boston in the 2005 Divison Series, ESPN saying the Red Sox had them right where they wanted them because they overcame a 3-0 deficit to the Yankees the year before. Teams below .500 at the midway point aren't like the 2021 Braves and win the WS. It's a pipedream to think this team is a WS contender at this point.
  18. That would be a Bill Veeck move. He was so cheap he made Kessinger a player manager so he could save a salary, and made Ron Schuelet a pitching coach when he was injured and couldn't pitch anymore
  19. There is a 99% chance if therr is any truth to this that it will be McEwing or Cairo. I would like something different, but either of those guys is an upgrade.
  20. I actually think Joe Maddon would be good for this team for a couple of years. His strategy is questionable but he is the anti Larussa with everything else. They could try to have fun again.
  21. He occasionally takes out the line up card.
  22. I am the same way. But if he is gone at the break, why not get a Starr on it with these 6 games. The season can still be salvaged. Maybe not in 5 days.
