TLR 2022 Thread
VV is a curious choice to get the beat of the team from. He obviously was a waste of $3 million. He is no better than anyone they could call up from AAA. His starts are basically surrenders unless the offense scores a crazy amount of runs. I have heard both TV and radio mention the short spring training hampered any changes they wanted to make with him, although they signed him knowing spring training would be short. If the Sox fail this year, and really it's only been a bad week, the failure occurred during the winter when for whatever reason, JR not wanting to spend more, RH and KW thinking all the heavy lifting was done, or crazily thinking La Russa was worth a ton of wins. We have known for Yeats some of these guys get hurt all the time. You were short a starter with Lynn and is bad knee healthy. That did not work. VV being successful was a pipedream. Tony winning you more games with his decisions tan costing you games was very debatable last year. To think that would improve is nuts. I still think this is a good team and will have a good season. But playing like the Twins did last season is a possibility. Nothing other than the speed in which it happened should surprise anyone. Eloy, Mocada, Robert, Pollack hurt. Lynn with a bad knee. VV a gas can. Those were all easy bets.

Eloy Out 6-8 Weeks
Eloy not busting it down the line cost the Sox an out on Friday night. It also potentially cost them the game, but the way way they are hitting, probably not. Now he does the right thing and bam. He is another guy you can count on to get hurt every season. TA should be having some leg issues soon.

4/23 GT: Sox @ MIN (3:05 CST)
Ticket sales must be slow. Sox will wear their city connect jerseys during Monday home games. They are selling tickets for those games with concession credits. $10 for upper deck, $20 for lower deck and $30 for club level. Those are the credits. $20, $40 and $50 are the ticket prices.

At what point does Hahn "blow it up"?
They are already 1 game out of first place. It's over. Back up the truck and start over.

White Sox vs Guardians GT 4/21/22
I posted a list of all of the White Sox 2nd round picks since they started a draft. If the reason they didn't sign Conforto was because of the 2nd round pick, there is some serious thinking problems. Since no one has signed him, I'm guessing his shoulder must be fucked up. They haven't drafted anyone in the 2nd round since Ryan Sweeney who has a 2.0 WAR for their career. Sweeney's was 6.9. The only other 2 with a 2.0 career WAR or higher since they drafted Terry Forster in 1970 were Jeff Weaver, who they didn't sign, and Bob Wickman who they traded before he ever played a game for the team.

People have said Madrigal can't stay healthy, well the Sox have a few of those guys, and Robert is one of the them.

It is your job as the trail runner to pay attention to what is going on in front of you.

That was Leury's fault.

It's in his head now. Hopefully he can snap out of it.

The only reason Garcia is hitting third is so Tony can say or think he is smarter than anyone if he does actually reach base. If he goes 0 for 4 and strands runners costing the Sox the game, if questioned, he will tell the person questioning him they are baseball stupid.

Guess who made out the line up card for that game in 1979.

At what point does Hahn "blow it up"?
If this year is a dissappointment or they win it all, I think Tony will be done. I think the only way he is managing the team next season is if they make the playoffs, advance but fall short of a championship.

He was really running the bases though. He's short enough, Tony should let him run the bases with the kids in the stands after Sunday home games since he doesn't have much of an opportunity to run them racking of 0 fors.

I mentioned it when he was re-hired, one of LaRussa's biggest problems is the love he has for the worst players on his roster.

At what point does Hahn "blow it up"?
Has there ever been a worse top 3 in a line up in modern baseball history than what Tony penciled in for game 2 yesterday? He has either lost all marbles, or was trying to be bad.

Conforto is still available.

GT: Sox @ Guardians Game 2: Lambert vs. McKenzie
This game may feature the worst top third of a batting order in White Sox history.

GT 4/19: Sox @ Guardians - Keuchel vs. Bieber - PPD rescheduled as a dbl hdr 4/20
It's a catch 22. They need innings to build up arm strength, yet need to be careful enough for the long haul.

Ballpark prices
Don't give them any ideas. I wonder how much Guaranteed Rate pays for their advertisement on the grass in front of the dugouts.

Ballpark prices
It's a little different. You have to go to the grocery store and buy food. You have to buy necessities. You don't have to buy $12.25 Miller Lites at a Sox game. For shit you don't have to buy, prices really haven't risen that much. Cases of beer cost about the same. I was just wondering where others' tipping points were. Again, I went yesterday, maybe not the best day to observe, but there weren't people over indulging like I have seen at just about every game I have attended.

Ballpark prices
The other thing is, everything is cashless, so even at the stands the credit card reader is asking for a tip done by percentage, so you are paying more of a tip, and tipping everyone for anything. Maybe for $12.25 a Miller Lite, they can pay their workers a reasonable wage to do their job. And that isn't the White Sox.

Ballpark prices
This is the whole point about my post. It seemed to me people weren't stacking empty beer cups, or leaving every inning to go buy another food item. At some point, and it hit that point with me a few years ago, the price of this stuff has to matter. I remember thinking years ago, how would they ever justify a $10 beer. Now that would be a deal. But most of us have a breaking point where we just say, no way. They can price it wherever they want. I don't even know if the White Sox have a lot of say in it. But they need to be careful, or they will be throwing a lot of food out.

Ballpark prices
I attended my first game of the season yesterday and was astonished at the increase in prices. Domestic beer $12.25, Modelo $14.25. Hot dog $7.50, sausage $8.50. Usually I partake very little, but yesterday I noticed more than usual seemed to join me. It could just be it was so cold. It could be that it was Easter and many had a big meal already or were planning one later. But there has to be a breaking point. Maybe most just go to a couple of games a year, and look at it like special occasion. I guess my question is will there be a point when you say sorry too much? No one in Chicago pays less for beer than sports venue. No one charges more. Just a total money grab.
