  1. At the park, when they announced the staring line ups LaRussa was booed. Just like old times.
  2. I will br there so I will miss Jason calling the opposing pitcher Pair-ez. I love that.
  3. Tony got lucky there. 1st base was open and Calhoun has an 1.100 OPE with a full count.
  4. Please then explain why Tony the genius let him see 3 pitches before walking him? If a homer was coming 1st base being occupied meant nothing.
  5. Or going out to argue with an umpire on a call that went the Sox way. I do think this version of LaRussa is about as close to Bevington as they have ever been.
  6. I still don't understand why he didn't put him on first when the count got to 0-2 if he was going to hit a home run and the L/L match up was still there. It Its just his old, tired act that he knows more than anyone else. The fact is, there are hundreds of thousands of people that could run a baseball game competently. Outside of managing the bullpen, itz extremely uncomplicated. But he wants it to seem like he is splitting atoms.
  7. He's putting guys with 1-2 counts on base.
  8. I never feel comfortable when he's camped under a routine fly. It reminds me of the 80s Sox. Greg Luzinski used to do Carnack, a Johnny Carson bit, where he says an answer then opens an envelope with the question . The one I remember was Catch 22, they open the envelope and the question is What would Ron Kittle do if you hit him 100 flyballs? I think Sheets is similar with the leather.
  9. I think Tony should be on the banner. Make it legit, brother.
  10. Its one of 30 jobs and an owner who is pretty popular with other owners as he has done his part to keep costs down for 40 years. He could easily blackball RH. That said, there are ways to signal you ae nothing more than a puppet.
  11. Again then why didn’t he do it when 1st base wasn’t open? If Turner was a near lock to do damage even at 1-2, and Muncy was an easy out, who cares if you put a runner in scoring position. The other thing is you had an umpire calling pitches 2 or 3 inches off the plate strikes all afternoon.
  12. The other thing is if he is so afraid of Turner, he can tell his pitcher to throw 3 pitches out of the zone and see if he chase one. You only need 1 strike and he’s in protect mode. I understand not doing that with an 0-0 count, but you almost have him put away. But anyone questioning the great LaRussa is an idiot, yet the real idiot cost the team 3 runs.
  13. I don’t expect the Sox to win 80% of the time once this clown leaves, but the sooner the better. It’s getting ridiculous. I knew he would be hated, not just because of the DUIs, and pompous attitude, but because he did the same stuff when he was here before. The vast majority were happy he was fired, and the Sox played a little better after he was gone. He may be worse now because at least back then he didn’t have HOF baseball person thing to pump up his ego.
  14. The question I would have for Tony is if it’s such an obvious move why did he have to wait for 1st base to be open? He was really gambling with 3 pitches to Turner. His press conference should embarrass the franchise. It’s like Terry Bevington is back
  15. That’s always been his MO. He’s smarter than everyone else. Just because it blew up in his face means nothing. The only time the result actually matters is when it goes in his favor. He’s an ego maniac.
  16. Putting them in the same situation as if he just put him on to begin with, but a 1-2 count ? There he is trying to do what no other would do to try to look smart. He should be fired. JR will probably never have any idea how much money bringing him back cost him and his heirs. But I bet it will wind up being more than any contract he has doled out. This team was primed to be the toast of baseball for years. Now they only make headlines when their past the expiration date manager says or does something stupid.
  17. Haven't bought any extras outside my 20 game plan which usually never happens. I actually sold our seats for a decent profit vs the Yankees because Keuchel was pitching. Of course they won that game. We will see how it goes. I kind of like watching on TV. Besides after 17 or 18 years on the Bears season ticket waiting list we got them this year. Probably should have passed, but had the deposit in so figured we should try it a year. Then the schedule comes out and 4 home games after December 1st. Great.
  18. I don't know why anyone would want to move Moncada off third. He's pretty nifty with the glove. Let Burger play 2nd and lift him late for a better defender.
  19. Moncada put up a 4 WAR last year without hitting much. Eloy won a Silver Slugger last time he was healthy. I know it's easy to kick a horse while they are down, but to say these guys can't contribute to a championship team is a hot take.
  20. Leury with a .193 OBP leading off, Moncada hitting 3rd with a .176 OBP. Runs were going to be scarce.
  21. He is leading off with an OBP under .200. But Tony has a guy like you whipped. If Leury gets a couple of hits, Tony is a genius. If he's 0 fer, hes only there because TA is injured.
  22. Leury Garcia leading off an MLB game you are trying to win is a joke. One of Tony's faults is he has this chip on his shoulder where he has to show people how much smarter he is than they are. That's why you get guys playing crazy positions, batting in spots in the order no sensible person would place them, and falling in love with the worst players on his teams. Many of his teams were so stacked, they were able to overcome this personality trait. This one doesn't appear to be one of them.
  23. He's been getting on base at a really nice clip even though it's seemed he's been an easy out for most of the year. It kind of surprised me when he was asked in the spring about his future, and he wasn't committed to playing at all, or playing with the White Sox if he played You never know what his true age really is. Contreras admitting to being older than listed. El Duque was a fossil when he played for the Sox. If Jose is 38 or 39, would anyone be surprised?. Chances are he will come back, but if not, I really think Vaughn is about to take off. He'd be fine at 1B every day.
  24. Last night was easily his best managed game of the season. He was on que with the bullpen and pinch hitting. The batting order was fine. Maybe the best game he's managed since he came back.
  25. Probably Tony's best game of the season.
