When the first thing anyone mentions is the energy you bring when you are signed, it's pretty much a red flag saying you can't play very well. Josh brings a lot of energy. I think I called his DFA in his signing thread. -

There is no way LaRussa will be fired. He should be, but no way. -

I do think Bacon has been a lot better this year. He is a homer for sure, and that's fine calling TA and Abreu primo defenders and all. But he seems a bit more comfortable this year. -
After watching what happened to the DBacks when Tony took over, it is mindboggling another organization would give him any say in personnel, let alone perhaps the final say.

Exactly what all his supporters said would never happen under Tony LaRussa is happening under Tony LaRussa. -
Firing a hitting coach now, especially a guy the players like, is the sacrificial lamb move. Had to do something. This was cheap, but nothing will change, and a new voice isn't going to suddenly make them all hit .300 with 40 homers and 100 walks. If they want to shake things up, it will take a trade of a popular guy, or LaRussa and/or Hahn being shown the door.
-
The Sox probably have to walk up some stairs to their plane after the game so Tony is probably going to have to give TA the day off.
-
Because the Braves were struggling until July or August last season and won the WS, RH will be mentioning them in his pressers if the Sox continue to struggle. Who knew being under .500 in July is desired WS performance. But just because one fluke happened, doesn't mean another will soon follow. They better either turn it around real soon, or take some action, or there is going to be a lot of meaningless baseball played in Bridgeport this summer.

They can only play as well as their talent lets them. It just seems to me there is a lack of focus I haven't seen with a White Sox team for a long while. Even when they were bad, they were bad because they had bad players.
-
I don't agree. Not every team has a realistic shot at winning. This team does or at least did. There is a lot of talent. They should be much better. Tony is supposed to be Mr. preperation. This team looks ill prepared a good portion of the time. If Gene Lamont or Ricky Renteria was the person making out the line up card on Opening Day this year, I really believe they would be in a lot of trouble right now. There's a better chance JR makse me Czar of Baseball Operations than him canning Tony a 2nd time. But he is a big part of the problem. When the Sox had a lot less talent, and played as stupidly as this team does, a lot of people said it was Robin Ventura's fault. This season is starting to remind me of 1984. The Sox couldn't lose the second half on 1983. Picked up Tom Seaver in the offseason, and 95 wins was a lock. They started off bad and never got it going. Tony was managing that team as well.

I live on the Near North Side/Gold Coast. I take the Red Line to Sox games. I generally feel safe, but not nearly as safe as I did 2 years ago. When I walk my dog at night, I have on me an old wallet with $1 in it and expired credit and debit cards, and my old phone in one pocket. People have been shot a couple of blocks away in recent years. Last year, 2 cars parked on the street in front of my home were riddled with bullets overnight. It is getting scarier, and not too far from scary. As for the Red Line, I think you will be fine as long as you have a game crowd on the train. On the way back in from the park, when you enter the train, it will smell of weed and cigarettes every time. Just stay aware and keep your phone out of sight until you get off the train. For the hotel, try hotwire.com. As someone who has gone on several baseball road trips, I would want to stay in Mag Mile/Water Tower. If you get the Westin, you may see the Sox opponents. That's where most teams stay. -
The team had a better winning percentage in 2020 and lost in the first round of the playoffs, just like with Tony. The manager got fired. Everyone knew it was the correct move. Then they bring in this guy because JR wants to right what he considers a personal wrong. He may have done himself a solid, but he wronged his team, his management staff, and all the fans.

As opposed to you who always rides on their worst game. The problem is, even with Mr. Energy, Josh Harrison, and Hahn's offseason pick ups were pretty easy to guess how they would turn out, this team isn't focused enough. The Big Hurt on the team's own postgame show, said they were sleepwalking the last Yankees game. Ozzie, on the team's own postgame show, said game 2, they weren't into it. They were content with the game 1 win. It's on the HOF baseball person. For anyone that remembered or was able to remember his first tour here, they all knew there was no way he would live up to expectations because he wasn't so good. Now older and out of the dugoout for quite some time, he's not even what he was. Renteria had to go, but they didn't even upgrade. I think right now, Renteria, with all his warts, was a better manager. At least they always played hard.

5/17 Sox @ Royals Game 1 | 1:10PM CT

The thing is, these guys aren't as bad as their current numbers. Regressing to the mean will happen, and it will be fun. At least for a little while. -
Cmon man. He took Pujols deep yesterday. If LaRussa was his manager, he would beg the Cardinals throw at him his next AB.
-
It's not just the hitting. This team loses focus with all phases. That's on the HOF baseball person. But that obvious move will never happen unfortunately. Even the Big Hurt said they were sleepwalking through Sunday's game. How do you sleepwalk against the Yankees.
