Josh Donaldson called Tim Anderson "Jackie"
Dick Allen replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Donaldson is an irritant and that is what he was trying to do. He claimed he was trying to diffuse any tension, but we know that isn't something he does. It was a flippant remark that was meant to piss TA off, and it was, whether it was intended to be or not, racist. -
5/21 Sox @ Yankees | 12:05PM CT | Keuchel vs Cortes
Dick Allen replied to Capn12's topic in 2022 Season in Review
I have been stuck on Keuchel starts this year. They did win his last start against them. A few years ago, it seemed every game I had tickets for were James Shields starts. Those really sucked. The games were almost always over in the first couple of innings. -
Flying in for a couple games, need info

That is a weird spot. 100 feet in any direction away is very safe. Loyola has a dorm a block away. But right in front of that McDs is a Chicago Red Line stop and it's pretty shady there sometimes, and it has spilled into the restaurant several times. I've always wondered with how the city handles other businesses with shootings how that McDs remains open. I'm sure there is corporate pressure. If it was Joe Schmo burgers, it would have been padlocked years ago. -

When the first thing anyone mentions is the energy you bring when you are signed, it's pretty much a red flag saying you can't play very well. Josh brings a lot of energy. I think I called his DFA in his signing thread. -

I do think Bacon has been a lot better this year. He is a homer for sure, and that's fine calling TA and Abreu primo defenders and all. But he seems a bit more comfortable this year. -
After watching what happened to the DBacks when Tony took over, it is mindboggling another organization would give him any say in personnel, let alone perhaps the final say.

Exactly what all his supporters said would never happen under Tony LaRussa is happening under Tony LaRussa. -
Firing a hitting coach now, especially a guy the players like, is the sacrificial lamb move. Had to do something. This was cheap, but nothing will change, and a new voice isn't going to suddenly make them all hit .300 with 40 homers and 100 walks. If they want to shake things up, it will take a trade of a popular guy, or LaRussa and/or Hahn being shown the door.
-
The Sox probably have to walk up some stairs to their plane after the game so Tony is probably going to have to give TA the day off.
-
Because the Braves were struggling until July or August last season and won the WS, RH will be mentioning them in his pressers if the Sox continue to struggle. Who knew being under .500 in July is desired WS performance. But just because one fluke happened, doesn't mean another will soon follow. They better either turn it around real soon, or take some action, or there is going to be a lot of meaningless baseball played in Bridgeport this summer.

They can only play as well as their talent lets them. It just seems to me there is a lack of focus I haven't seen with a White Sox team for a long while. Even when they were bad, they were bad because they had bad players.

I don't agree. Not every team has a realistic shot at winning. This team does or at least did. There is a lot of talent. They should be much better. Tony is supposed to be Mr. preperation. This team looks ill prepared a good portion of the time. If Gene Lamont or Ricky Renteria was the person making out the line up card on Opening Day this year, I really believe they would be in a lot of trouble right now. There's a better chance JR makse me Czar of Baseball Operations than him canning Tony a 2nd time. But he is a big part of the problem. When the Sox had a lot less talent, and played as stupidly as this team does, a lot of people said it was Robin Ventura's fault. This season is starting to remind me of 1984. The Sox couldn't lose the second half on 1983. Picked up Tom Seaver in the offseason, and 95 wins was a lock. They started off bad and never got it going. Tony was managing that team as well.
