Where could Kimbrel be traded, and for what?
Dick Allen replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's funny, they are all over this, but had nothing on Graveman. -
If they fire him in season, it probably means Pace stays. They have to blame the coach. Now Pace and the rest of the Bears brass can fool themselves into thinking the problem isn't talent level, it's coaching. Nagy is a nice start, but if Pace is still around, it will be more of the same, unless he totally lucks out and brings in a guy who turns into a HOF level coach.

Yes he did, but so did Zach Duke. It could go either way, but man, $8 million a year for a 50 inning non closer is spending some cash. I just hope it doesn't cause them to try to be more "economical" with other needs.

Not many players lefty or righty hit the top pitchers. That is kind of why they are the top pitchers.
-
That's his job. If everyone doing your job or my job, if you don't work for yourself, had an agent, we would all be making a lot more money.

Mark Konkol is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist , so i think he was told was he claimed by a really reliable source. i don't know why, if you have made the decision, you keep him on the sideline another day. I also got a chuckle out of the "fire Nagy" chant at the Bulls game last night, although, the same chant at his son's HS football game was just wrong.

What a pathetic list. JR should be embarrassed.

Because the trade didn't happen. That's the not Cishek logic. He was bragging about his insiderness stating the exact same thing. He brought back an old tweet. The problem was he gave 2 choices, that supposed trade that didn't happen, and signing Cahill. That, thankfully, didn't happen either.

Definitely could turn out better, but Moncada was the #1 or #2 prospect in baseball, and Kopech wasn't too shabby. Both were probably thought of at the time a little more than the other two..
-
Either might have said the Sox were targeting him, but the trade package was made up. If the Sox wanted him, they could have got him, but the cost would have been ridiculous. Hence, no trade was made.
-
The White Sox may have wanted him, but unless they overpaid dearly, they weren't going to get him. The Sox would have probably had to offer more than they got for Sale.
-
Where was it stated the rumor was real? Why would the Brewers trade Burnes last offseason? It made no sense.
-
I think what he is getting at is if you really want to win a WS, you must have All Star quality major leaguers stashed in Charlotte, and probably Birmingham, and some years, Kanny.
-
He's still pretty young. The Pirates should pick him up.

Ray Rice beating the crap out of his wife/girlfriend -
2 of the 4 highest paid Bears offensive players are Jimmy Graham and Nick Folez. Just a shock it didn't work out.
-
It was because they had guys like Danny Wright pitching. They had plenty of offense even though they had a bad series. If they don't trade Foulke for Koch, and Thomas and Ordone don't both get hurt, they may have won the WS earlier.
-
We have heard the same thing about a lot of pitchers. But usually they revert back to closer to what they were before, Ray has had a few nice seasons. He didn’t go from awful his whole career to one of the best. But I think you get burned if you pay him like one of the best.

The 2000 White Sox got swept in the first round. Frank Thomas and Paul Konerko were hitless. Yes, this offense struggled at times, but I still think if they are healthy it is pretty stacked. Some guys are going to improve. Grandal probably doesn’t replicate, but even if Roberts numbers come down a little, having him most of the time will help. Another bat would be great, but I really doubt JR is going to spend big before he knows what the next CBA looks like. Remember, he was the only owner to vote against Manfred, and the thought was he thought Manfred would be too soft with the Players Union. I wish their payroll was ridiculous, most of their division would give up. But that isn’t going to happen. These names and scenarios are fun to look at, but I think the reality is the Sox will fill holes, but with cheaper alternatives.

I think some of that had to do with the 60 game 2020, but starters IP are definitely trending lower.

Yes the Houston series many point to was distorted. If Gio, a guy now a few are saying the teams window will close when he leaves has any command, the Soxx win game 2 and can pitch him game 5, and Houston has had all kinds of problems with him. They win that, they have homefield with Lynn. That is with all of their issues. I hope they are aggressive, and I think they will be, but some better health and some growth will make this team really good even if we are all disappointed with the activity this winter.

Tony Kemp until 2021, his age 29 season, never put up a 1.0 fWAR season. I am thinking outlier.
-
Dylan Cease had a higher fWAR than the Cy Young winner, and he has been almost forgotten on this board.

For $100 million +, I hope he can make fans forget the league minimum Nicky Two Strikes. Remeber, the Sox didn't sign Machado becasuse they said they couldn't afford his 8th year. They just jacked up the cost of 2B for years before that. That trade was a disaster, and I am not anti-Kimbrel.
