  1. QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 08:16 AM) Just curious as to everyone's thoughts. After last night's 4 hit performance, in 70 at-bats Morneau is hitting .300 with 3 homeruns, 9 RBI, OPS of .851 While 70 ABs is a small sample size, I think that Morneau has proven that he is still capable of hitting well at the professional level. The power may not be there, but he is still finding holes and putting the bat on the ball which is waaay more than any other recent Sox DH has done. Should the Sox strongly consider offering him a contract for the DH position next season? He does solve a hole in the lineup...good left-handed bat and a DH (2 birds one stone). If so, would a 2 year deal be too much? He's 35, turns 36 in May 2017. I don't think so...not a big fan of these 1-year rentals and it's not like Morneau is 38, but maybe they need to see how he hits the rest of the season. Far and away best pure hitter on the team certainly wouldn't hurt.
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) What is the point of bringing him up in September and starting his clock earlier? Clock doesn't start with September call up I believe. Why the clock on Fullmer is running is beyond me that was a really dumb move
  3. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) Trump's goose is cooked. I don't think he gives a s*** anymore, he probably ran to insure Hillary wins. The perfect Trojan horse. I always believed this and deep down don't think he really wants the position. After securing the nomination he would have won if he cleaned up this rhetoric instead it has gotten worse. I wish the media would do their job as a good amount of the American public is stupid.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 10:53 AM)
  5. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 01:08 AM) White Sox Organizational Prospect Rankings (per Baseball America): 2011: 27 2012: 30 2013: 29 2014: 22 2015: 20 2016: 23 So when exactly did the Sox have this great farm system? GMAFB. You said they did not have a good farm system since the Larry Himes days, that was not what the discussion was, the discussion was talking about the Twins farm and rebuild. I said when Williams took over, ten years after Himes they had a good system which produced in one way or another the 2005 team. That was 10 years after Himes. GMAFB
  6. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) No. Not since the Himes days. Next question. Wrong team, the point was the Twins rebuild is not going too well especially with the guy that seems to have been the number one rated prospect for the last four years. When Williams took over as GM the White Sox farm system was really deep
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) Game was on live on TV (or at least I thought it was one live) on one of those special olympic feeds. I watched a bit of the spain game to see Niko and Pau (only watched 1st half). uverse has a channel dedicated to soccer and basketball I would rather they have that for swimming and gymnastics althought most of those they can get on their prime time programming Yesterday senegal and the U.S women were on two channels Caught me some Italy v brazil women's archery good stuff.
  8. Winter Olympics curling is the best 4 year break sport
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) So Comcast will overpay to improve the Sox? As a community service, or because of the leverage JR has with the Bulls? Hmmmm... If the Cubs dont start their own station/network in 2019, the argument for paying the White Sox more than they're currently receiving is what? And WGN and WBBM radio already lost out on the Cubs. Think they regret that now? WBBM owns the SCORE. WBBM was a holding station until the Sox were kicked off of he SCORE. Both are owned by CBS parent company
  10. Will be interesting to see what they do with Moreanu.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 09:57 AM) I was so bummed by Peaky Blinders season 3 I didn't even finish. Season 1&2 were great. Only three episodes into season one. Anyone now the best way to get seasons 1 and 2 of Ray Donovan?
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) One of the best posts I've seen on this board. That post hits it right on the head. As a 44 year old person living on the south side Chicago, is it the weight of a poorly run city, within a poorly run county and a very poorly run state during a presidential campaign that appears to end in very poorly run country for the next four years that leads me to have disdain for a poorly run baseball franchise which used ot bring joy to my life. The baseball franchise is the only thing I can actually refrain from pissing money away on as the other entities that I can not really control are killing me, literally. I also have never seen such disdain from fans not from the Careless Lee days, white flag or strike. Maybe it is the access to media but this seems worse. My guess it is some combination of all fo this and then the cubs turnign into the Blackhawks in that they are being run by a person with a plan and the ability to execute it. The White Sox appear to be a rudderless ship.
  13. I just watched true detective season 2. I heard it was bad but actually liked it until the end. I was not a fan of the ending makes the whole season rather pointless.
  14. I just remembered Forte is gone from reading that post. BTW I am a big Bears fan The White Sox have killed my interest in all sports. Hopefully the Olympics gets me out of it.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) No. You said it perfectly
  16. I love baseball and the White Sox as frustrating as it can be.
  17. QUOTE (Special K @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:04 PM) This is true. Don't get be angry about Sale and Q, because it's possible Sox didn't get fair value for those players and properly held out. But all indications suggest they could have moved the guys you mentioned and gotten something of value for them and/or obtained payroll flexibility at the same time. Seriously, we could have unloaded Shields... Plugged Fulmer into the rotation next year and had roughly $25 million of payroll off the books for next year (Danks + Shields), which could be used to sign some positional talent. Fulmer is far from being a simple plug in. I hope there is plan here and it may have been JR neutering the front office with a change on the way from KW all the way down. Money should not be an issue with them going into the off season. At this time catching, bullpen and outfield depth are the major needs. Their rotation 1 through 5 is set. Need to sign two real bats.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:17 PM) Looks like Beltran is going to Texas, not sure for what yet. My guess is Dillon Tate.
  19. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) damn deadpool wtf I love when AustinIllini tries to convince people he is not a troll.
  20. This is the White Sox Conundrum... Teams are dying for aces, the White Sox have two. Seems everyone wnats to rebuild because that worked for the cubs. It also has failed for many many others. I personally think there is enough on the roster to win, it is the front office that cannot fill the back end of the roster and a coaching staff that cannot figure out how to get eh best out of its players that are the issue. A Fowler/ Austin Jackson platoon for the White Sox would have looked decent enough on day one, yet here we are with Avi Garcia still taking up a roster spot and goign the whole season without a 4th outfielder. The Duke trade makes sense in that it addressed a problem.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) There's no reason to trade Gonzalez unless they get something of value No reason to trade anyone really. They got a need for Duke. They have money next year.
  22. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 07:18 PM) Don't worry Coop will fix him. At what point do you determine the effectiveness of a coach based on previous effectiveness? coope4 has some success stories as well.....what does todd s. have on his side
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) Looks like he used to block a trade unless Cleveland would void his option for next season making him a free agent. Don't know if we're on the list or not, but even if we wanted him, he'd do the same here. white sox were not on no trade list he rejected the trade because Indians could not guarantee he would catch next sEason thus reducing is potential free agent impact.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 04:43 PM) Easy answer, he doesn't. Horrible job as a GM, as both big league team and farm system suck. neither Chicago team has a GM they are both puppets.
  25. the whole organization needs a reboot. I think there is enough talent to be much better than they are.
