Here is why I think Contrearas will start. If you play the Yanks or Angels you get Johnson or Colon twice. We need to put a guy out there that could possibly dominate and shut a team down. Who is that.....Contrearas. Buerhle will go 6 or 7 but may give up 3 or 4. Jose could s*** the bed but I think he is the guy to go with. To hell with stats.

If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 06:18 AM) That would result in us tied with Boston and New York at 95-67 correct? So we would have to have one game playoffs. Just win today baby. CWSOX45 The day after they had a one game playoff. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) They piss down their legs when the pressure is on. Is that month or season?

Didn't see this anywhere but the Sox would host NY or Boston in a wild card play in next Monday.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) ..we get rained out tonight... Jose will not be able to starty Sunday in Cleveland and it will have to be Brandon McCarthy if we havent won the Division by then!!! I don't think they would bring him back on three days rest anyway.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) They must have changed it in recent years. So basically if the Sox win their next 2 and Cleveland loses 1 more against TB, its over. Ding ding ding 3-2 record the rest of the way and it is done. We could lose 2nd round home field but that is it. A loss by any of the other three tonight and/or tomorrow make it easier.

Sounds like Rocky 2 to me. Ms. Crede awakes turns to Joe and says, "WIN, WIN" Get back Joe Joe!!!!!!!! Oh I got the chills.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) I've heard if the Sox and Indians tie for the ALC/WC, that the Sox win the ALC due to better head-to-head record. That is what I was led to believe. The ONLY time head to head comes into play is if both will make the playoffs.

If the Sox win and Indians, NY or Red Sox lose
Harry Chappas replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Not to sound condesending but there are about 5 posts on this. But you are correct. -
I have bashed Konerko a ton this season but I feel he is the only legitimate hitter we have right now. He needs to be resigned at the cost of a pitcher if need be.
-
Cleveland had 23,000 there last night.
-
f*** it if we don't win it ain't my fault. Correct me if I'm wrong; 1 win = WC tie 2 win= WC 3 win = Division (Bos or NY need to win all 5 to have best record in AL over us) Regardless of what any other team does.

17-9 O's How do you think Yankee fans arer feeling?.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) The Baseball Gods gave us this night, and we still f***ed up. NO YOU HAVE THAT BACKWARD THE BASEBALL GODS ARE GIVING US THIS NIGHT. We are the hunted and lost first the others (2 of 3) all followed suit. How pissed are the Indian fans right now????

to Kansas City , you blow the lead to go down 4-3, bust ass to tie the score 4-4 in the 9th see the teams around you are all winning (Bos, NY and at the time the Sox were up 1-0 I think) then lose a ball in the sun to lose a huge game. This made the "demoralizing" loss last night not seem so bad. This and Boston has a doubleheader today. Sorry if this is a dumb post, but it made me feel good so there.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) I read on one site that head to head is the tie breaker when both teams would get in. A game is played only if it means one team would go home. That is what I read as well. BOTH need to be guaranteed a spot in the playoffs in order to throw out the tiebreaker.

White Sox @ Tigers 9/26 Game Thread
Harry Chappas replied to AddisonStSox's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Tigers site has Johnson. Also Ordonez and Guillen should be back in the lineup. -
The thing is at this point in time KW has made up for every bad move by having a team that will win over 94 games while bringing very few through the farm system and trading for a few others. This team has been assembled using very resource (FA, trade, farm, video(Iguchi)) out there. In 2003 he had the best team in baseball in my mind, that is all he can do. KW's trump to any trade Jose Contrearas AND cash for Estaban Loiaza.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) Honestly, there is every reason for him to be playing consistently, only from the back of the order. Without Everett, this team could find itself in trouble in the post-season. However, if Everett can get hot (and the only way he does this is by fighting through the slump with AB's) than he could turn into another nice bat in the playoffs. I'm not saying he should be hitting 3rd, I like it where he has been the past couple games. Unfortunately he doesn't and with that attitude it does not bode well for him breaking out of his slump. I agree he needs to play through it but he has to want to do the right things. After the first 6 swing and misses yesterday he should have at least taken 1 strike. Something he did not do all day.

If you have game 5 you are SOL. 1 and 2 now equal 3 and 4.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) If you did get Torre, then we'd also likely raise payroll. I can't see Torre taking over for a team without a top 10 payroll, etc. Am I the only one who gets way too happy when anyone suggests Ozzie might not be back? If his replacement is cheap managerial knock off yes. Leyland (good friend of JR by the way) no.

KW did what he said he was going to do
Harry Chappas replied to southsideirish71's topic in Pale Hose Talk
KW put a contending product on the field in 2003 and 2005, unfortunatly he was hamstrung by his manger in 2003 and may be once again 2005. Although I think he should've gotten a bat, the manager is not putting his players and team in a position to win. -
The only way Ozzie goes is if he resigns, way to much dough to eat for a firing. Leyland I think gets the job. I would pay for Lou but that would make to much sense as he knows how to run a pitching staff. If Ozzie goes does his relative (Garcia) get moved for the bat we need, Tex or Blaylock?

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) What a fan you are! Remember before this game when everyone wasnt expecting the Sox to even score? What happened, got too used to being in the game? I am just calling it like I see it. Do you understand that our manager vomits from not being able to handle the pressure because we can not get a real manager. Are you watching this s***. Watch three guys swing as hard as they can right here and look like fools. -

Thanks Aaron. Nice job pods start in the bullpen next time. The epitome of a choke job. Sorry but f*** THIS TEAM. I have not said it before they are losers and this is a loser franchise. We may back into the playoffs but if I hear again we have the best record in the AL and won such and such games right now this team has a manager that is scared of everyone and everything and his team is following his lead. f*** THIS TEAM AND FRANCHISE AS A WHOLE.
