  1. Sorry to rain on your parade. Watch for Sosa for Jones and then Hudson signed using the Jones money long term.
  2. Angels have Colon.
  3. Jay Jay the Jet Plane will rant about how cheap the Sox are for not offering $12M a year to settle all of their issues because they are a Huge market and loaded.
  4. And who is our #5?
  5. In all seriousness JR could show the charitable work the Sox do (the Cooper and Hickey thing is mind blowing.) To a person that Clement seems to be, this could be a big selling point. Not to change this but these are the type of things that make the Sox a larger part of the community and is not written about as compared to the corporate giant. If Mark Prior was handing out toys for the CHA it would be a cover story, Mark Buerhle does it and the only way we know is because he will do an interview which is intent to try and get dirt on Lee an Foulke for WMVP. When the cub does this I guarantee the guys are in town for the cub convention. The charitable work of the White Sox is staggering and goes unnoticed because JR elects to do things this way. And no, I am not a huge supporter of how they run things but I like many things they do.
  6. A couple of things on Matt Clement. 1) When he is on he is awesome when he is off......well, see Pirates game last year. 2) He finished weak this season and I beleive he didn't pitch very well in the playoffs the previous year. 3) He has an asthma condition that was brought up after one inning when he ran the bases then got absolutly pounded the next inning.....you know that may have been #1 and the reason for #2. Well anyway I guess I am stating the feelings of everyone else when I say he is not worth more then $7M a year but we may not have a choice. This is why KW has his job and we get to sit at our worthless jobs and think about crap like this.....sorry not a good morning. If not Clement, then Lowe/Perez/Millwood and AJ. I am more content with either of these than getting Johnson as we would have a more complete team 1-25, which is what wins in the end. Now an incomplete team and $6M in the pocket :puke
  7. The agent that inked his deal with the Dodgers is now the D'Backs CEO. Also, he has the highest Slug% of any visting player at the BOB.
  8. They drop over $5M in Garland and Marte so it works to be about the same.
  9. This trade is good but we still need a fifth starter. If they think Shoe can fill that role fine. A servicable fifth starter gives us the division the last two years. I still like Clement/Perez/Lowe and Prez. RJ is great but we go from having 4 guys locked up for a couple of years to two and Contrearas???
  10. Everett is still a major league hitter that would be a good DH especially if Frank is out. I would say there is a good argument to be made that Vazquez may not be a a better pitcher this year than Garland and WE STILL HAVE A HOLE IN THE ROTATION and no money to fill it.
  11. The thing with this move, we still need a #5. If we are not getting Johnson this trade blows. Unless it is Garland for Vazquez straight-up or we are getting Vazquez and signing Clement then it works. Last week by making this trade, we solidifed our rotation and look a little hit to payroll. Now we do not need the payroll so as stated in an other thread, the Sox can overpay via free agency but not with professional talent.
  12. Didn't their coach play for Ditka as a "Spare Bear?"
  13. I have a feeling Marte is part of any package and to tell you the truth I feel he is very overrated. Didn't he blow over 50% of his save opportunities.
  14. All I got to say is the yard gnome is gone and Roger can replace the dirt spot in left and there will be more room in the bullpen when pitching changes are made.
  15. Can somebody post the 40 man roster? I am to lazy to go to WhiteSox .com to look at it.
  16. Matt Clement is not worth $9M a year. They should pitch the idea they traded Lee to open $7M for him and offer 3 years $21M. They should then offer Anderson or BMac and Garland for Burnett. I would like Lowe but I get the feeling Boras is keeping him out until the last day possible to get a desperate team that needs a guy (i.e. Boston.) I like the fact that we have nobody really overpaid right now and think we should keep it that way.
  17. This goes back to the remake KW made about meeting with JR this more. Jason Stark, opr one of those guys has an article about Beltran and when he may sign and how they need to get that done. Actually I think it may be J.D. Drew.
  18. Add a run for being in the NL. He is no where near worthy of $9M a season. See what changing leagues did for Clemans and has placed Maddux where he is. I think KW may enter the Beltran race or Hudson.
  19. Our outfield defense is now a strength when (Carl isn't in left.) Our offense is more balanced when Carl is in left. We do not miss Thomas as much now. Rowand and BMac for Hudson? Ginter's splits against lefties are just sick. Derek Lowe???????????? Boras or no Boras. If healthy we are a better team this year than last.
  20. WHAT IS IT??????????????????????
  21. Keeping Konerko makes sense as it is a walk year and we could use a couple of picks after next season. If he he lights it up everyone benefits. Lee gets us more value now and Konerko adds flexability next offseason. We free up a ton of cash for 2006 Lee, Thomas and Konerko = $22M. Who is going to drive in runs for us, who knows????
  22. Didn't Wilder have a major role in building the Milwaukee farm system and acquire Pod a couple of years back. He would have a tremendous amount of knowlege of some talent that is getting close to ML ready.
  23. Milwaukee needs arms for their pen (Adkins, Cotts, Diaz, Munoz, etc.) If Crede goes to Tor, Sox can go after the Japenese fellow or Koskie (assuming Tor backs off with Crede and Hinske) Crede for Batista straight up. FWIW I think both Tor and Mil deals are pointless unless we get young guys to spin off for Hudson or RJ. Wasn't Ted Lilly part of the Arizona wishlist??????
  24. If the Dodgers wanted Nomar why didn't they sign him? He is $3M+ cheaper now. Nomar to the Dodgers was pure speculation like the rest of the trade. I was explaining the finances of the White Sox and where the Magglio money went, then and now.
  25. Do you put any thought into anything or just try to spin everything as the Sox being cheap? I wish they spent $100M but they aren't. Now go follow the cub and talk about how close they are to getting Beltran. The $14M or Ordonez goes to garcia and Contrearas. The Valentin money goes to Dye and Hermanson. Actually you have to be a cub fan or just somebody that enjoys being miserable. Well enjoy your misery.
