I save my thought on this until morning.

That is awesome. How wasn't that on last night. I really feel bad for the guy he seems like a pretty innocent dude. I wish he was a drunk belligerent guy so I couldn't feel bad for him.
-
Can we trade Colon if we sign him? It wouldn't be a bad idea to sign him and see what we could get. Although I think we need pitching and a trade of Ordonez wouldn't kill me if we got good players in return. Ordonez and Konerko for Martinez and Edmonds.

I vote this one for Idiot Cub Fan Of the Day!!!

Complete troll, I don't miss tha MLB boards at all. -
Wasn't there a troll by this name on the MLB Board???

You can see this from the Metra as well as the Ryan. UD last rows behind homeplate. Any idea what is happening?

This sounds like it could be true and the Hawk Harrelson mind blowing trade could have included Maggs and starting pitching. Not sure why Jm would reveal this to the guy repairing his garage but hey......

I was responding to the post that the manager have WS experience but not be Cito Gaston. Is there anyone alive other than Torre who has more WS titles than Gaston. I personally would like Cito Gaston. My whole post should've been in green. Any person that wants experience as a crendential should start and stop with Gaston. This is who I am pulling for. He will keep Jesse Jackson at bay and this is good in and of itself.

Who would that be? What other options are there? Going back in time we have Leyland? Out of baseball and would get the job if he wanted it although we canned two of his coaches. Then Gaston, who is unacceptable. Then we have Larussa? He is employed as is Pinella. Roger Craig I suppose would be an option as would Lasorda or possibly Whitey HErzog or Sparky Anderson.

The question is are you serious? First of all, no we don't spend 70 million. That's not the White Sox way. Secondly, Colon wants more than 13 million, Everett will likely make more than 5 million, Garland will make more than 1 million... I think they'll move Maggs, though. That was my point. A serious organization can take what we have and build something big. I realize we won't spend the money and do this. I believe the dollar amount of Colon is what he will settle for. This was what guys got last year and the market seems to be tougher this year as there are other guys out there. The saving grace is that JR needs to realize that unless he takes huge steps this organization will be at its lowest point come Spring Training. Soxfest will consist of autograph seekers and that is it. The next two weeks and three months following can decide the fate of this team for the ten years. My idea was to bring us to a level to compete with America's Team, if not, a $60M payroll is useless as it will not be compteitve enough to gain and recognition needed to draw more than 10,000 a night.

Somebody mentioned a guy named Meaux(sp?) to me. any word on him I nevere really hear of him here and am too alzy to research myself.

$14M players need to produce to win 1-0 games (Det. twice and San Diego,) I like Maggs and he puts up great numbers. The fact he has one game winning hit in his career and Alex Gonzalez has 7 (5 via the home run) in two years with the cub makes me wonder. Also, Maggs is a great hitter when the weather is nice. This takes away half of our season. This being said, could you sell the Rangers on him straight-up? They are looking to cut $20M in payroll for A-Rod this would be $11M and he could leave via free agency if he doesn't pan out or you sign him for less (Maggs and Texas) next season. This would show me JR is serious. Konerko-Lee-Maggs = greater than $25M for next year. You bring Alomar and Everatt back cheap. Resign Colon and we take some spotlight from America's Team. Alomar-Rowand -Everett-A-Rod-Daubach-Thomas-Crede-Reed-Olivo = $43M assuming $5M for everett and Alomar and $6M for Thomas. Garland-Colon-Buerhle-Loiaza-Schoenweis = $1M,$13M, $3M, $3M $1.5M = $20.5M $6m for the pen = $70M total for team. Are we serious????????

Has the Cubs success made your Sox love stronger?

Call 'em up and tell them that you would cancel if you had them. -
Kudos to Chris Brenon (?) of ESPN radio
Harry Chappas replied to Kid Gleason's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sportradio comments; "Farnsworth should start," (this was tried and failed, he is the only thing they have in the pen.) "Remington should have stayed longer." I thought it was Remlinger but I could be wrong. -

Personally it has made the disappointment of this past season more intolerable. I would say that I am disgruntled for the first and feel if JR and KW don't make strides to take this thing seriously we could be in for a long rough road. I am on the fence and began by dropping my season tickets. I hope I am wrong but it could be a tough draw next year. -
What about Lee for Pierre. Encarnacion can play center, although I am nto sure what their salary will be. Loaria spent money in montreal I would think he would here to keep the fans that have returned.

If Sosa hits one in th 12th to win..............

You can't start a game at 9 Cental time especially in October as the weather could be horrendous, it will actually be beautiful again this evening. Mother nature shines on the Marlins, it was pretty cool last Friday and Saturday, freezing (literally) for south Florida this time of year. I think 6 ET (NYY) and 7:45 CT (CHI) would be nice. The problem with all of this is the commercial breaks are 5 minutes long and the game, even at quick pace takes 3 1/2 hours. I think this can kill ratings pretty quick. I got hooked on NYPD Blue and missed a huge chunk of the game.
-
The Marlins new owner appears to be in it to win it. What makes you think Castillo will leave? I think they will trade Lowell but resign Castillo. Free Agency is unpredictable currently, this will help us with Colon and may hurt guys next year like Wood as he is a free asgent after next season. Watch for the cubs to make a run a Maddux or Millwood in the offseason.

If you thought Cubs fans couldn't get dumber

This did make me chuckle. I was wondering why nothing was said on television. -
NWI Times article regarding "friendly" confines...
Harry Chappas replied to SpringfieldFan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Take this with a grain of salt as I can not see a Sox fan not cursing through this process. The best story is about the two cub fans that beat the crap out of a female cop on the L platform after a cub game. -
The only thing I had a problem with was Lyons saying that the runner interferred when he was tagged on the Grudzy play. He then stated what a great call it was.

KW made moves but he didn't take on salary. He basically sold 6 minor leaguers to Texas and the Mets for the free services of Alomar and Everett. JR did s*** for this. We could've gotten these guys for nothing if we took their salary, see the cub and priate relationship. If JR was serious we would have picked up a pitcher. the ballpark will be empty next year unless some serious moves are made. JM should've been gone in May and this killed us in the end. The noise was made last year and we lost a-lot of minor leaguers becasue JR refusing to be serious about winning. The deeper into the playoffs the cub goes, the further the Sox fall on the scope of those fence sitting fans and there are a ton of them. I know for one there will be no renewal and Opening Day is the only game I really want to go to. The next week in the scene of the Chicago White Sox is bigger than just the cub going to the World Series it could be the nail in the coffin as far as our impact on this city. For some reason I feel JR is oblivious to this as he sits in the desert. Rent won't be an issue.

Will KW get to talk to Ozzie this week?
Harry Chappas replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why wouldn't the Marlins hire Ozzie? McKeon is up there and Ozzie knows these guys.
