  1. I think Coop actually earned that for a while. I'm not certain what Katz has done besides being younger than anyone else Tony brought in.
  2. The Sox payroll has been in top 10 and bottom 10 probably more than almost every team. They average in the upper half. https://www.stevetheump.com/Payrolls.htm Easy to follow charts.
  3. Katz was part of the friends and family hiring spree. I don't think we would do much better than him. At least he seems like he's from this century.
  4. True. But for some teams it's so minor that no one notices. For other teams is interesting but not impactful. Then there are a couple teams like the Sox where it's a major signing worth lots of discussions.
  5. I wonder if it's all the entertainment choices that are available or something else but I'm just not willing to pay current ticket prices for national live events anymore. I'd rather support local entertainment.
  6. I don't mind the extended playoffs but if I'm going to watch professionals play, I'll watch on Sunday. I would have preferred the people making the most money from college athletics, the colleges, to pay stipends. I think the transfer portal has problems and needs to be tweaked. But I did get caught up in the UT - Aggie hype and watched. I'm surrounded by a lot of UT grads and former employees among my in-laws and my daughter's in-laws so it was a good night.
  7. It's December. About time for some major deals before the holidays. It will be nice to have some actual transactions to discuss.
  8. He didn't form a charity to buy the team. He didn't add it to a collection. He has bought and (leased back) or sold property to build his personal fortune. He put together a group of investors to buy the team as an investment.
  9. No one went broke paying taxes on profits. Of course he could sell for $600mil and save a ton in taxes

There are a couple places with better than average Chicago style food. The best one sadly is Wrigleville and has a ton of Cub s%*# on the walls. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood it's a must stop.
  11. There isn't a definition or stat that we all will agree with. I think we could also use 2023 as the date of the rebuild. 2020 and 2021 were historic in that it was the first back to back playoff appearances in team history. 2022 was a team that Vegas felt was a top 7 team to win the World Series. By White Sox standards that's about as good as it gets.
  12. I wish the headline was White Sox Looking for a Average Prospect (because Robert had a bad year and there are injury concerns.) What kind of a GM tries to get Top Prospects? Then he would be in the same category as Boras and nobody likes Boras.

What's the link that you know will be disappointing but you click anyway? For me it's anything DeWalt sale related. There is nothing I really need new, and nothing that really needs replacing, but I click and I click and I click.
  14. It's difficult to keep secrets on any sport. They perform in public. Their stats are published.
  15. You did mean the Red Sox in the headline. That's the negotiations at the adult table. The White Sox are sitting at a folding table with the kids.
  16. At the last deadline no top prospects we're traded by any team. One person's "reclamation project" is another person's "soft-tossing veterans for bloated deals and washed-position players who only signed here because they literally had no other option who wouldn't be worth anything, and that will be the big move of the off-season."

Proof God loves me and wants me to be happy. https://www.mysanantonio.com/food/article/portillos-schertz-19940995.php
  18. Or here's what we're prepared to offer . . .
  19. Exactly. A lower offer than if he started lower. Start lower and he will finish higher.
  20. Exactly. So instead of getting desperate, just start with a lower asking price, take less and move on. Better than getting desperate after starting too high. That's what we've always done and it resulted in a world series win and multiple playoff appearances this decade.
  21. So it seems that Getz keeps asking for more than what our guys are reasonably worth. How long until he gets into the same groove as everyone before him? Ask for what they are worth, settle for less than what they are worth, and move on? Other teams can get away with it and sometimes come out clear winners in trades, but that's not us. We lose trades. That's our DNA. So stop the nonsense and do the job we expect from you.
  22. Kind of like going into a car dealer and wanting the absolutely lowest price on a new car and the highest price on a trade in. You gotta start from a reasonable point.
  23. That won't stop us from complaining about the deal.
  24. Then you are talking about the 3rd outcome if Getz accepts the deal. More than Crochet alone Equal to Crochet alone Less than Crochet alone Asking for the first two isn't a problem unless Getz accepts the third.

Hmm, that's next level genius. I'm always looking for something to contribute off my smoker, Blackstone, or grill for the peace and quiet. The kitchen is always too crowded. This year we are at my in laws and I have pickleball and a pool to escape to.
