  1. This deserves it's own thread
  2. Why bother there won't be a season next year.
  3. I might have to start paying attention to the local teams. It would be less frustrating.
  4. Texsox replied to Heads22's topic in SLaM
I just was in a long conversation about this and other what I'm calling "faith based investments". To me it all fits into art. A painting doesn't have much material value, just the exclusivity of having it. Same with digital investments. If I was younger I'd consider putting 10% or so in NFTs, crypto, etc. But my current glide path doesn't have much room for pure speculation beyond some single stock purchases to augment my ETFs and Mutual Funds.
  5. If the Sox spent 4/$53 everyone here would believe they overspent, that the market wasn't close to that for him.
  6. So who is failing as a set up guy that will be HoF level closer? Are you suggesting guys who get demoted fall apart and never return to their former glory?
  7. Since set up and closer are so radically different which poorly performing set up man is really a HoF closer?
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the last signing.
  9. I really like the guy and no matter where he's pitching next year I wish him success. But SS is spot on. It's not my money, so if the team signed him to a QO, I wouldn't have been upset, but I'm equally not upset that they didn't. I still believe he signs something around $45/3 after most of the market has been played out.
  10. I think the Sox will sign him . . . Eventually
  11. I had the Chiefs Raiders version my best friend had the Bears Packers.
  12. Probably not 100% there was a little bit of insurance if anything happened to Liam. There were more ways for the deal to look good than bad. It looked like we would be rock solid with any lead after 5.
  13. Posters who always predict the worse will sometimes be right.
  14. Happy Thanksgiving
  15. It's always interesting how someone thinks they post versus how others perceive them.
  16. Would you say you praise him 75%, 50%, 25%, 5%?
  17. He looks like a good fit.
  18. I don't believe MLB would allow the Sox to trade Kimbrel for any thing, I believe it has to be a who. The thread title is technically incorrect. I still can't wrap my head around the fact he can only close. Imagine if Hahn traded for a below average set up man and said he's going to be a Top 5 closer because there isn't enough pressure in the 8th.
  19. So now he gets to finish the season. He reminds me a bit like Jim Boylen. Nice guy, lots of potential, good credentials, things just didn't work out. I hope he gets another shot down the road.
  20. I was speaking generally about that list. At $8 mil, sure a 20 year contract would move the team up.
