One of the reasons they signed Marcus Robinson in the offseason was to do exactly that.

Andruw Jones a better fit for Sox then Beltran...
witesoxfan replied to AngelasDaddy0427's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just so you know you're wrong here, Jerry Reinsdorf was the first person to give a hitter $10 mill a year...that being Albert Belle. He has dished out the money before. -
There are arguments for both being traded. KW really just has to take everything and anything into consideration and make the deal that helps the team the most. I think trading Konerko would be the best option, personally...but there are several things that could come into the picture and change everything in a second.

Everything the Cubs do effects the White Sox. For every game the Cubs win, part of the White Sox organization dies. For every Cubs playoff appearance, a large part of the White Sox dies. If the Cubs were to win the World Series, the city of Chicago would become a walking, talking mess of blue and red. Instead of your average little Billy watching the White Sox and enjoying seeing them play, he'll watch a team that actually wins. THAT'S why it is important for White Sox fans to despise the Cubs. This is already a Cubs town. Sox fans have to hope for the best and hope to see it become a Sox town again, like it was in the 80s. The White Sox probably need a World Series victory more then any other team in the majors. The Red Sox and Cubs have gotten there and choked, many, many times. they have been close. And because of that, they b**** and complain about bad luck. Meanwhile, you don't hear the majority of White Sox fans complaining about bad luck or anything stupid like that...Red Sawks fans complain about not having won a World Series since 1918, but truth be told, they won their last World Series more recently then the Sox. It's not our fault that they choked and lost multiple World Series in 7 games(including the 75 Series and Buckner in 86 too...they were lucky enough to be in the World Series as it was that year, and them getting to the World Series was a large part in driving Donnie Moore to commit suicide). f*** the Cubs. f*** the Red Sox. I hate both franchises, the more I get to thinking about it. I hope for the good of the game that neither team ever wins another World Series title. I'd much rather see the Twins win it, or preferably, the Cardinals. The fans of those teams do not complain, even when the times are rough...they deserve a World Series title.

It's not even the fundamentals that make them the better team. It's their pitching staff. If you the game is close come the 6th or 7th inning, pack it in, because that bullpen will shut your ass down. Add to that Cy Pedro Santana is over there pitching out of this world, along with Radke and Silva who have both been solid...you see why they win consistently. It has nothing to do with their offense, it has to do completely with their pitching staff. That is one reason I would like to see us have 4 very good relievers in our bullpen...we pretty much need that many to compete with the Twins, which is why I'm not really excited too much about us bringing Politte back.

He's actually a decent fielder from what I can tell, he is a little faster than most big guys, has a ton of pop in his bat. Also...he has the ability to hit 500 foot homers. If he ever shortens his swing up, he could end up being a 30-40 homer guy some day. Pretty big if, I know.

I'd like to see Ichiro at the top of our order. But maybe that's just me.
-
I would like this move. And I guess I just assume the Sox could throw in some cash too to help make up for the money differential. If our OF became Byrnes-Beltran-Rowand, there's a chance that could be better then the Twins OF both defensively and offensively...to put it simply, all 3 can play CF, and can play it pretty well, and all 3 have pretty strong arms from what I remember.
-
I'd like the move, however, how much is Zito making? It would have to enough to cancel out the money that either Lee or Konerko make next year. But I do like the trade. That would be a hell of a good move for the Sox.
-
It's just fitting that he will be in Miami when Dwayne Wade comes into his prime and starts tearing up the league too.
-
I'm just messing around...no need to have a cow over it. We like to play over here. However...your ideas are quite far fetched, to say the least. Sorry, but it's the truth.

Let me see if I can understand this correctly. You guys want a reliever(and I'm not even going to bother with the numbers), who was closer for half of a season for a 2nd place team that tanked in the second half to be ROY over Bobby Crosby, who is the starting SS for a playoff team(even if they don't make the playoffs...I will still view them as a playoff team), and is a big part in their success too. He does not have outstanding numbers(.250 21 62 .775), but I still think he deserves it more then Shingo.
-
Edgar Renteria? Who would want that bum? I want Rey Ordonez!
-
To me, a rookie is a relatively young guy(usually from the age of 29 or so on down) in his first year in the league. That is what a rookie should be anyways, IMO.

I like playing with loose players. It's fun. What I do not like is playing with players who play loose because they are catching cards. Like tonight in PokerRoom...I raised with an ace, and everyone called...flop came 6-a-6...i was shortstacked, moved all in...and low and behold, those two assholes both came in with a 6 in the whole...the one guy had 6-5o and the other had 6-8d...thats why I don't like playing online.

I have all 6 of my invites left. Just PM me if you need me to email one to you.

Except for his 151 games last year at 3B, yeah, this is Joe's first full year. :rolly

For starters...I'd like to ask, why Jeter is on the list but not Miguel Tejada? And don't you dare tell me it's because the Yankees win...Jeter has a role in the Yankees success, but he is not a more valuable player then Tejada is. Anyways, if this is a one year thing...give me Bonds. I think MLB has to do something about Bonds...he is too good. They like have to make him play with a shock collar, and if he becomes too dominant, they shock the hell out of him. Also...it is hard to say what the Sox record with Bonds in the lineup would be. They would have had a chance to win 100 games, and I have no doubt about it either. You have to consider that he plays his home games in one of the most pitcher friendly parks in the majors, and he is still hitting 40-50 homers a year...if he were in the cell, I would venture to guess that 60-70 homers in our lineup would not be out of the question, honest to God. And with Bonds, you know that Caballo and Konerko would have had better years then they really had...and they have had some damn good years. Basically...Bonds is as a god. If this is something for the future...I'd probably take Pujols. He's a stud.

I would have liked to have seen Reed in a Sox uniform. I would have taken Harris at 2B for the rest of the year and Uribe at 3B the rest of the year. Now we'll be trading Crede for a reliever in the offseason. Meanwhile, we have a hole in the OF(and don't try to convince me Carl Everett makes our OF whole, because he does not)
-
Tight is no good. Gotta play loose as a goose. You play loose, and eventually you will catch someone with a modest hand who thinks you are bluffing, and you take a huge pot from them.
-
I can't decide if I want to laugh or puke at how disgusting that really is. Brutal

Minny...don't think for a second that you are the only one on this board that has contemplated suicide. I'm sure some here have, and may not be open to sharing, or some may...who knows(I do realize beastly did) Life is a b****...everyone knows that. It has its highs, and it has its lows...and then it has its lower then lows(and beastly called them). Those lower then lows are just painful beyond anything words can describe. Almost everyone thinks about suicide at one time or another(or atleast about wanting to die, due to some event or another), and some get very close. All I can say is, whatever you do, don't pull the trigger, don't push down, don't swallow...just put everything down, take a good 5-10 minutes, and think about everything and everyone in your life, and how they are affected by you. If everyone took those 5-10 minutes just to think about all that that has ever committed suicide, I would venture to guess that atleast 95% of everyone who did that would not finish the job...which is a good thing. Keep your chin up, and go to battle tomorrow...all you can do is keep moving on. Soon enough, you'll be in your 60s talking to your grandkids about this thing called a message board that you used in the internet ages ago, and they'll probably wonder what in the hell the internet was, and you'll pull out your old computer...ah, you get the picture. In case you are wondering...yes, I did contemplate suicide...and I thought about what I was going to do for about 5 seconds, and I realized it was a stupid, stupid idea. Bad s*** will happen to you...it happens to everyone. The best thing you can do is look past the bad s*** and look forward to everything good that will happen in your life. Like the White Sox winning the World Series

Agreed. The Bills could very easily be 2-0 right now. Instead, they are 0-2. Failure to execute when necessary will result in losses.

It can be looked at as good or bad. Being too over-confident, or feeling he can be a better player. I do want to see Willie remain in the organization though...not even necessarily as a starter, but he can be a valuable piece to the puzzle.

No one has. A junkballer should not be a closer though.
