What people are forgetting about Maggs is how he sizzled in the second half of last year. He had something like 20 homers at the end of July, and ended up with 38. He had like 80 or 90 RBIs at the end of July IIRC, and he ended up with like 140. In August and September, Maggs hit like .350 20 60. That's an incredibly good SEASON....let alone two months. If he could do that again....that would be sick.

If they get a big enough lead, a swoon wont matter. This sox team isnt capable of winning 10 or 12 in a row. Which was exactly my point. In 2000, we used a huge first half to build up a lead in the division that was so big that we couldn't blow it, unless we were the Detroit Tigers. As late in the year as August 1, we were 11.5 up on Cleveland. If you blow an 11.5 game lead in two months....then you are really s***ty. In other words, the 1995 Angels were really s***ty If the Royals get a double digit game lead at any point in the year....they'll win it.

I said when Jerry stops tinkering....and he won't stop tinkering, which means we'll need a new manager, and we'll be rebuilding next year....that means probably around 2007 or 2008 or so.

I think it might have something to do with it being that players don't really become top notch prospects until they reach AA. When you reach AA, that is make or break. You succeed, you can become a top prospect. If not, you are dicked.

It seems like so long ago that we swept the Twins, dominating them in games one and two, and then giving up and early lead in game 3, only to get it back, lose it, and then gain it and win the game, in dramatic fashion. Since that time, we have gone 1-3 against last place teams. If we could carry anything out onto the field, we would be 3-1 in those games, not 1-3, and we could easily be 4-0. This team just makes you sick sometimes.

They have plenty of good arms, like Cruz and Beltran in the minor leagues, to take over as closer. I'm sure they could find a replacement for Joe. I think Juan Cruz sucks If anything Farnsworth could take over, he's got closer stuff Damn, forgot about Farnsworth. He could as well Hell, I'd take Farnsworth. Atleast then we actually WOULD have a guy that can hit 95+ that is younger then 35. Knowing our luck, he'd start to hit 91-93 on a regular basis after the point that we acquired him.
