  1. They still needed some help in the bullpen.
  2. link Means the Marlins are in it. And they have quite a few FA's as well. I guess they are in the same boat as us. Win this year, and regardless of how you do, you are rebuilding next year, and you get a lot of comp draft picks.
  3. That'd be great if we could do that.
  4. I'd take either Shields or Levine....I just don't think the Angels or DRays respectively would take on Kong's huge ass contract. The O's would. And do you know how many other teams would take on Paul Konerko's contract, other then the O's? If I'm thinking right.....NONE. If we could get anything for Konerko, I'd be thrilled. But if we could acquire something we need....that makes it that much sweeter.
  5. You know what would be even better? If Carl stepped out, just asking to be a special guest in the dugout, and asking that Frank take his spot. That would be pure class on Carl's part if he did it, and show the world that it is not about him, but rather about giving someone who has played better then him an opportunity to play in the game which is being hosted by the ballpark he has played nearly every home game he has ever played in. This can't be compared to the Clemens's situation, where he has been denied a spot because his stats aren't there. Thomas's stats are there. He has 20 homers, and is, simply, on pace to have a great year.
  6. You know HSC means what she says when she would prefer to have that "dumbass" "lawn ornament" on the White Sox then someone else. I also have to agree with her. Get Konerko out of here, and get whatever you can get for him. I would take one or two fringe prospects to get him out of here. If we could trade Konerko to Baltimore for Kerry Lightenberg, or if the O's would accept that deal....I'd consider it done.
  7. I call bullpen catcher! Or maybe I'll be that guy down by the bullpen who gets the balls. I can do that too

    Who

I really don't want Torre all that much. Not only would he cost a ton, but, IMHO, he really isn't that much better then JM. Did anyone consider that Torre was successful because he had a manager that would spend hundreds of millions of dollars on his baseball team? If JR dished out $100-$120 million on good, baseball talent, like Steinbrenner does, he could make me look like the next Connie Mack. Think about it. We, as a ballclub, are dead, because there is no fire, no intensity there. Then you bring in a cool manager that rarely gets fired up about a call, like Torre, who is supposedly a good manager. This guy, before coming to the Yankees, was a sub-.500 manager with the Mets, Cardinals, and Braves. Had the Yankees hired JM and we hired Torre at the times they were hired, I bet people right now would be calling for the head of Torre, and JM would have 4 rings on his hand. I'd much rather have Wally Backman, who atleast has a history of winning and only winning at some level of baseball. And he's cheap....something that JR likes a lot. And unless Piniella gets canned for some odd reason at the end of the year, and we don't make the playoffs and JM is canned, I don't think there is any reason to look outside the organization for a manager.
  9. You could figure out that our division is pathetic just by noting the fact that KC is on top of it, a year after they lost 100 games. You then look and see Detroit, a team that has won 25 games all year, at the bottom. You know the NL Central is a pathetic division simply because the Cubs are near the top.
  10. We got an option for him for next year. I don't see why we wouldn't exercise it, and then trade him at the break for some very, very good prospects. Supply and demand. You put a pitcher of that caliber on the market at the trading deadline, and you might be able to burn up a farm system. Remember what the Indians got for Colon? I think we could get more then that.
  11. I think its pretty lame! No offense! I think it's funny. We need some offensive help, badly.
  12. We'll have to see what happens. I think the Royals will struggle a little in August, due to fatigue. Their starters will probably die because of dead arm.
  13. Will he get booed? What the hell kind of question is that? The question is....how MUCH will he get booed? Not will he get booed. Get it right next time!
  14. I like Dauber. When he is struggling, he makes productive outs, and when he gets hot(and he gets hot for stretches of about a week or two). However, with him being as streaky as he is, you'd find it hard to believe he is one of the most consistent players in the majors when getting everyday playing time. If he plays 140-150 games a year, he'll hit .275 25 100 every time. And he's cheap, and versatile. Nothing wrong with Dauber. As for Konerko.....
  15. This is the kind of thing that just pisses the f***ing hell out of me. Let's make something that is not really that big of a deal(a guy running into an umpire) a huge deal, yet let something like this slip under the radar. This nation if f***ing pathetic. I just wish the Sox would just win the whole f***ing thing one of these years and just make the Chicago media shut the f*** up.
  16. I have one fond memory of Lyle Mouton. In I think 1996, Texas started out 8-0. I got home from school in time to tune into the game at around the 7th inning. I watched the game from that point on(then being mainly a Frank Thomas fan over a White Sox fan). The score after 9 was 5-5, and I remember it staying that way until the bottom of the 11th. The Sox put 2 men on, and Lyle Mouton came up. If memory serves correct(and it may not since I was in like 2nd grade then) he hit one way out into right-center field....and it was a blast. It had to have been 425 or 450 feet.
  17. Do you know how RIGHT you are? That is the exact feeling that I have....and apparently, the one that you have.
  18. This team needs a kick in the ass. They are playing s***ty baseball. What they need to do is play these games with some intensity. They should set a goal before every game....maybe going into a game against a Detroit, they could say let's score 5 right away and put them away before they have a chance of scoring. It has been said before, will be said here, and will be said again in the future. This team has no killer instinct. They don't know how to put weak teams to waste. KC does. Congratu-f***ing-lations Kansas City on your AL Central division crown :fyou
  19. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAN! HAVE A GOOD ONE AND DON'T GET SUNBURNT LIKE I DID ON MY B-DAY! Also....are you making fun of a former Bills player, OJ Simpson? Shame on you! For that, you get two things..... That one is a classic It is also one of my friend's brother's B-Day as well. He turns 20....almost old enough to drink legally.
  20. Good news to hear! No Giambi. There is a God afterall!
  21. Most of the time, you are going to lose when you face a pitcher who has his A+ stuff, like Traber did last night. When you can throw a CG 1-hit shutout against the Yankees....you've done something. It's called playing down to the level of your opponent. The Sox get up for big games, and they are too relaxed for games against s*** teams. And you wonder why we've only beaten the Tigers 6 times. We are 6-4 against the Tigers....f***ING PATHETIC.
  22. Methinks Anderson will take a little more time then 2 years to develop. He'll probably be ready to play in 2006. Get him a full year in 04, a full year in 05....and, assuming everything goes right, he'll be up in 06.
  23. I'm thinking if he won't accept a trade to Minnesota, a team that is higher in the standings then us(and they also have a much better bullpen), then why would he want to come here? Makes no sense to me.
  24. I think it is definately possible that Koch could do better as a setup man then a closer. Ask LaTroy Hawkins about the difference between closing and setting up. As a closer, I believe LaTroy had a 5.97 ERA, a 1.96 WHIP, and like 8 or 9 blown saves with a ton of walks. As a setup man last year, his ERA was like 2.13, his WHIP under 1.00, and he had to have had 20 or 30 holds. Just an observation.
  25. Ya, no point in putting Cotts on the 40 when he isn't needed on it. Diaz, Cooper, Ginter or Stewart can fill in. Since Buehrle is pitching in the 2nd game, wouldn't it be best to go with a righty in the first game so they get a little different style (Stewart and then Buehrle wouldn't be too wise, imo). I'd go with Diaz. I wanna see if Diaz can get it done. He seems to have a good arm. I wanna see if he was overhyped or not.
