  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 01:42 PM) I think this team's ceiling is .500 so I think it's entirely possibly things could go south in a hurry still and just like that we'll be 10 under .500. We shall see, though. I didn't know that you didn't think this team was very good.
  2. QUOTE (Tmar @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) What that doesn't make sense, oops I is only 2 syllables, cespedes is more than that [Oops,] [did it] [again] [Ces] [pe-des] [did it] [again] it works dammit
  3. For comparison's sake Alejandro De Aza - .199/.273/.327/.599
  4. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 10:57 AM) I think it's funny that a few months ago people were screaming for us to cut Dunn, guys have countdowns on their profile until his contract ends, etc and now we want to extend him. I love that he's having a nice season, but he will be 35 next year, doesn't exactly fit into our future/core plans. I agree overall, and I don't think there's a great chance that he's back, but completely ruling it out at this point seems premature.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 11:01 AM) So here is my rant. Do people not realize that in a free society bad things are going to happen? That the whole entire point of freedom is giving people the choice to make good or bad decisions. That is what being part of a free country is. So even if I think I am right, that I have the best answers, everyone else in America is free to disagree. I hate f***ing defeatists and their mindless followers.
  6. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 10:33 AM) He rules the world from 1B. Dunn and Konerko aren't going to be around next year. Konerko definitely won't anyways. We'll see what happens with Dunn.
  7. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 10:27 AM) I'm thinking he's close to untouchable for them. It's just a matter of time before they find someone to take Kemp, Crawford, or Ethier off their hands for half the salary or so, and Pederson will step right in. This is more along the lines of how I feel. They would rather eat money and move one or more of those guys.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) I'm wondering what it would take to get Joc Pretty sure the least the Dodgers would even consider is Jose Quintana.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 09:48 AM) Yeah, it just depends with some guys. Obviously, he was selected by the White Sox at least 50% because of Rodon and their relationship, so it goes with the territory. And he's already made jokes online about Rodon not being able to get rid of him, and they are/were roommates I think. With the dearth of catching prospects in the Sox system, you could still make it 75% about the things he needs to do in order to stick at the catching position as he moves up (certainly he will as long as he's with Rodon before Carlos is promoted to the big league team)...maybe what going to college has taught him or the general experience of being around a college program with two Top 15 players in the country that failed to succeed and maybe why that happened...how his hit tool has blossomed from the time he was in high school and highly scouted and how he envisions his career with the Sox unfolding, what they've told him to work on, etc. How could you even speculate on this? Brett Austin was named an All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association AND Baseball America. He hit .344/.414/.516/.930 this past year with very good BB and K rates. He's a good player.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 08:08 AM) Good suggestions all around so far, thanks. Andrew or Jared? I would hope he is talking about Andrew since I don't believe Jared has much longer for the organization.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 09:05 AM) i have my own soxtalk money guru/investment expert, tyvm Yeah, and his name is motherf***ing wite
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 08:11 AM) Sale is going to shake off the inning that shall not be mentioned Finish them Mortal Kombat brutality style, White Sox If you guys had listened to me on Tuesday and bet your house on the Danks-Verlander matchup, you'd have 2 houses now.
  13. The Dodgers aren't trading for an infielder. They have Uribe coming off the DL shortly and have Corey Seager about 2 years away. I don't think people realize how good Uribe has been the past couple years. He was a 5 WAR player last year and was on the same pace this year prior to his injury.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 06:45 AM) Cespedes did it again http://deadspin.com/yoenis-cespedes-made-a...-bas-1589739878 Say to the tune of "Oops, I did it again" by the great Britney Spears. Cannot unhear.
  15. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 07:03 PM) Don't the Blue Jays still owe the Sox another player for Mark Teahen? What? No. The Blue Jays assumed the contract of Mark Teahen. They did the Sox the favor in that deal.
  16. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Honestly I don't want to see any pieces added unless they are salary dumps where the Sox are only sending B-C level talent in the deal. That or just straight waiver claims. The rotation isn't nearly strong enough to warrant going all-out for this season. I could see a Freddy Garcia sort of trade where they acquire a guy either under contract or as someone they'll resign.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Theo talked last offseason about not paying for what people have done in the past, but what they project to do in the future. Masterson losing his velocity seems like someone he would want to avoid. Lester has lost a bit of velocity this year too. Besides, if they want to give a 31 year old a monster contract, I'm not going to upset.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 03:11 PM) What does this mean for Rodon!?!?!?!? He was included as a PTBNL. Hoffman is coming back to the Sox though, so they ended up with their man after all.
  19. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 02:43 PM) It was absolutely the weakest trade of Hahn's tenure so far, both on paper and in terms of result. I think he could have got more if he traded him before the deadline, but obviously it wasn't that much more if he didn't pull the trigger. I think the biggest fault lies with the league for underrating Rios. I don't disagree with this. I think teams fear his inconsistency.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 02:34 PM) What? You really don't? Honestly, no. I think if you put BJ Upton in this situation 4 years ago with Jermaine Dye set to become a free agent and the Sox had a general lack of depth and youth in the outfield in general, I think the Sox would claim BJ Upton too. Rios is a better hitter, but Upton brings the requisite athleticism that Williams coveted and is a far better defensive player.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) How come you guys never point out my winners? Which winners have you had?
