  1. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 08:51 AM) I was interested, I think he can at least be a fourth OF/defensive replacement, handle all three OF positions, and has good speed on the bases. Perfect guy to bring into run for Tank in the 7th inning next season. He has the upside of starter if he can make contact at a decent rate. I would think he would make more sense to the org than Micheal Taylor. Michael Taylor costs virtually nothing unless you're upset about losing Jake Sanchez (you shouldn't be). Carbonell didn't cost much, but the scouting reports from Cuba are getting better and better - hence $36 million for Cespedes and $42 million for Puig and $68 mill for Abreu - and he still got $3.5 mill. That tells me he's probably as good as someone like Paulo Orlando.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 11:24 PM) They can't possibly buyers. Well I guess they could, but it's wishing on a star, believing that this team will seriously contend. it's far more likely that they finish last than first. Don't waste an opportunity to acquire young talent. You don't sell off pieces for the future for an upgrade for solely 2014. You make moves similar to the trades for Garcia, Contreras, and Peavy in the past with some possibility of helping this year but with an eye towards next season.
  3. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) Wasn't wearing my glasses and I thought it said Blake and Jim, Wife and Tex. Congrats to a great a couple.
  4. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) This is what happens when Jason gets drunk. I hope you're happy, America.
  5. You can sense the impending release of Mitchell.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 02:33 PM) So the truth comes out, this site is just a thousand wite alts. Why do I keep talking to myself?
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) I just changed my password for the first time on this site but my password I've been using these last 10 years might be even worse than those for a White Sox site. My password used to be whitesox on this site.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) So when do find out wite hacked chisox's account. Shhhhhh nope zip it, keep quiet.
  9. What's really funny is that all of this started based on a comment I made posting on my phone from work while I was pooping.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) Didn't know he had cancer. F Cancer. RIP It sucks, but it was from chewing tobacco. He brought it on himself.
  11. It's incredible to look at his career in a vacuum. Great player, great guy. RIP Tony.
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) Lottery tickets are all well and good, but what it says about this rebuild is it's going to take longer than planned. What do you think a rebuild consists of Marty?
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 10:24 AM) Michael Taylor is not a Major League caliber player. That's about as correct as I can put it. You probably should have relayed this information to the front office before they made the trade then. Silly you.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 11:57 PM) Amazing how the Royals' patience is paying off. Or their cheapness. Maybe they didn't want to pay Yost and his replacement, but suddenly KC looks like the class of this division. 10 wins in last 14 games with the bats waking up and the rotation looking very good. It's only been like 29 years, it's about time they figure it out. Except they haven't yet.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) That's why I questioned Sale as an ace, because of what Kalapse said about longevity. Do you feel that Stephen Strasburg is an ace?
  16. Nothing wrong with the trades the Cubs made, but they weren't franchise movers.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 12:05 AM) Kentucky will win next year's NCAA title going away. It won't even be close this time. If UK survives its nonconference slate unscathed it may pull a Wichita State and go undefeated til tourney time. Calipari better hope his team drops one early cause the undefeated thing is an albatross. This post was made during the transition from Saturday to Sunday, given that it was 12:05 AM CST. Greg was wasted and decided it was best for the world of Soxtalk to know at that time that he believed Kentucky was going to win it all (likely hearing it from some Kentucky fan either driving through town or a Kentucky friend who absolutely despises KU). He is forgiven. For the record, I will not be betting on Kentucky.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 09:20 AM) Hey you guys are getting a Buffalo Wild Wings. That is a pretty big deal. Dickinson is getting a BDubs. We've had one for about 8 years now. Come on now. http://bismarcktribune.com/news/election/o...3063f8d68a.html How about a quote like this? This is a group of Native Americans he is talking to on a reservation. They didn't grow up in a "white society," but surely said "white society" is better than one where the economic climate dictates an unemployment rate of 60%. (it is the author's take on it, but that does seem to be what he is implying with his quote)
  19. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 07:00 PM) Are you saying you LOVE the signing? Yes
  20. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 08:41 PM) Time to demote Davidson to AA No.

  22. And his visit highlighted precisely why I like nothing about the guy. -He spent a huge amount of taxpayer dollars for what essentially amounted to be a 3 hour visit to the state. -He visited a reservation, which I have no problem with, but again, spent virtually no time with them, and then left. -During his speech - which was fluff and nothing more - he never even mentioned or intimated the idea that the Native American people should try and seek employment in the Bakken region. Currently, ND has a 2.6% unemployment rate with about 4,500 job opportunities in the Williston/Dickinson areas, yet unemployment on the Standing Rock reservation - where Obama visited - is currently sitting at 60%. There are people who commute a thousand miles at a time to work oil in western North Dakota right now, so why would we deny our own people from working? Seeing Air Force One was cool atleast, I guess.
  23. Holy cow, I just read through this thread.
