  1. Blister problems too according to Rotoworld
  2. QUOTE(bmags @ May 26, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) does every friday night thread have to be so surprised people aren't on? wait its friday?
  3. as a kid, it's probably seeing Mark Buerle make both his first career start and get his first career win. You bet your askholes Beyond that, my favorite memory as a child was just flat out seeing baseball; in 1994, I saw the Twins play the Indians in Minnesota, and Shane Mack hit a grand slam in the first inning. That was about the coolest thing that had ever happened to me at that point in my life.
  4. I prefer beer to positing in a White Sox winner thread, but what the hail. Buehrle with a solid outing, Terrero, Erstad, Crede, and everyone else who did something well.
  5. Scott Baker, thanks for the contribution 494, Thomas ties the game against the Twins
  6. Weird as it would be, Griffey would look good in LF
  7. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 25, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) I've been saying this for a while now, actually. Last year (I wasn't on here), even though he had a pretty good season, I never thought he was that good. His OBP was at a career high of something like .330. And I thought last year was a career year, and that likely he would revert back to sucking. Everyone loves to love him and make excuses for him for what he did in 05... but it aint 05 anymore. He had a .757 OPS in 2005. There was also no reason to believe he was going to be as poor as he's been this season; assuming his back was in good enough shape to last the season, he was almost assuredly going to put up the same numbers he did in 2006, seeing as how he'd improved, by and large, every year since 2003; the main reason his 2004 season was as bad as it looked was due to his mediocre contact rate (6.7 PA/K opposed to his 7.4 for his career); however, his IsoSLG has gone up every single year he's been in the majors 2003 - 172 2004 - 179 2005 - 202 2006 - 223 You're putting a ton of stock into simply OBP, but it's quite obvious that getting on base is not Crede's strong suit. When he's hitting for power and making contact, he's going to put up numbers UNLESS he is hurt badly enough that it's affecting his game; right now, his AB/K is about 7.9, so you have to figure that his back is in extreme pain. On top of everything, Crede's only had a bad month and a half and there's reason to believe he can rebound his season to a respectable .270/.305/.450; to get there's it's gonna take about .297/.327/.510 from July 1 to the rest of the season, and that's assuming he's going to miss June; if he can make it back for June, those numbers won't be quite as high, or if he were to put up those numbers from June 1 to the rest of the year, he'd have an even better season. One thing is for sure, and that's that Crede has been a disappointment and a half thus far. He really needs to get healthy or get hurt badly enough to get on the DL so that way Fields can come up, because this half hurt, half healthy state is hurting the Sox.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 23, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) hmm surprising, he always seemed to me since coming to Dallas that he had been a positive contributer. Keyshawn will tell you that Keyshawn is a positive contributer, because Keyshawn is always right.
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 23, 2007 -> 09:52 PM) Matt Kemp hates people from the Dakotas. well that's a bummer I was really hoping to get the chance to meet Shawn's kid
  10. 13/3 GO/AO for Russell; snot bad
  11. QUOTE(Iguchicago @ May 23, 2007 -> 11:09 PM) You guys would still call Ozzie an idiot if he took Garland out before the 7th, and a reliever gave up those runs. It's not like our pen has been dominating lately. You've really misread this group then.
  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 23, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) Damn... scary. Like I said, not even his family is safe from him. Oh, and he even threatened the little kids to. WTF? yeah I'd probably rather sit by Matt Kemp than Elijah Dukes
  13. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 23, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) Just making a point that ONE thing we have produced is a plethora of relievers... Rocky Biddle Gary Majewski Jon Rauch Bob Wickman Matt Guerrier Jason Grilli (although mostly an SF failure) Roberto Hernandez Bobby Howry Frank Francisco Fabio Castro Jay Marshall Boone Logan the Sox really are pretty damn good at that. Jon Adkins is a decent 12th man in the pen (whether he was developed or not by the Sox is up to others to decide) and Royce Ring is pretty damn close to finally coming up and having a spot in the Padres bullpen.
  14. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 23, 2007 -> 06:05 PM) It shocks me that someone like this plays baseball. Usually people like him play football or basketball. just like Ty Cobb. Heisman trophy winner I hear.
  15. With these cutters and sinkers and maybe even a two seamer or god knows what else he's putting on the fastball, he'll be fine in the 93-96 range, so long as he's locating. What I'd like to see is him not going to his curve on 90% of 2 strike counts; his entire assortment of fastballs can all be strikeout pitches, even his 4 seamer; all he has to do is climb the ladder. If he can do that, I'm not sure the dude's touchable.
  16. I really don't think you can say this pitching staff is special until it proves it can pitch in summer heat. The team ERA right now is 4.09, and I'm pretty sure it was 4.12 at the end of May last year. It ended up around 4.65. Hold off with the special comments for now; the rotation seems very good, but Vazquez has shown signs of getting lit the hell up over his past few starts, I'm not sure you can ever count on Contreras, and Danks is, after all, still a rookie even with how awesome he has been.
  17. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 23, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/aggreg...amp;season=2007 I prefer runs scored. We're ahead of KC in runs per game, and closing in on Baltimore and Seattle. That's a little bit more important than Batting Average or (B)rian (A)nderson. I prefer team OPS; it's .688. That's good for 30 points behind Baltimore for 2nd to last in the AL, and 27th in the majors.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ May 23, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) ESPN News does a good job IMO, it covers a lot and is straightforward. I don't recall seeing Sox highlights last night though
  19. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 16, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) It's just my personal opinion/feeling about him as a player. He doesn't seem to draw much walks and strikes out a few too many times one would like, but he can hit. I am usually wrong about these things anyway, so it's cool anyway. Chris Young, low A 8.3 PA/BB 3.6 PA/K Chris Carter 11.9 PA/BB 6.4 PA/BB Yeah, usually wrong, right Dude's in low A ball, give him time before even projecting him.
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 23, 2007 -> 01:26 AM) The key for tomorrow will be on the basepaths. I read on AN that Kendall hasn't thrown out any of his last 29 runners (He was credited with 1 CS during that stretch, but it was with runners on first and third, pitcher threw to first, runner went home, throw came home, out at home) and Gaudin is really slow to the plate. I want to say there have been 19 SB against him already this year. (I don't remember the actual number) If that's the battery the A's go with, everyone not named Thome, Konerko, Pierzynski, and Dye should be running when they reach first. MLB.com stats say 10 already this year, but there hasn't been a CS against him all year. In fact, 10 for 10 this year, and 20 for 21 in his career. Yeah, run all day.
  21. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ May 22, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) God damn it's so good to see Thome back. that is the key to life right now
  22. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 22, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) No, I'd never want to meet Dukes. He picks fights with his own family most likely. I yell at my brother. I have in the past. Am I a bad person? Besides that, it's something you're assuming. For what reasons, I'm not sure, but it's ridiculous that you say that without knowing the guy. He may be an asshole, but so is Kemp, and quite frankly, I want nothing to do with either in the White Sox organization.
  23. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 22, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) Since when is a .350 OBP, .310 BA and 748 OPS terrible? I wish even half of the White Sox hitters were that terrible, if that's the case. Those are his numbers as the leadoff hitter, which has been his primary role for the last six weeks. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/stats/bypositi...d=1&sort=25 If you compare his 748 OPS, he'd be right in the middle of MLB CFers. Once again, not terrible by any stretch of the imagination. That would put him ahead of Andruw Jones, Damon, Taveras, Ryan Freel, Baldelli, Crisp, Cameron, Victorino, Lofton, Bautista, Pierre, Borchard, Patterson and Duffy. thanks for proving my exact point dude
