Holland and Swarzak...or MiGo if healthy.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 09:05 AM) It never will be it. The whole argument of modern politics isn't right versus wrong, it is me versus you. It is getting the one up on social media. It is getting the soundbyte for the masses to repost. It is getting someone to post all of the links supporting your guy and opposing the other. What that does it mean that the actual substance of what is happening is secondary to winning. With the adversarial political environment of today, this won't matter either, just like nothing else has mattered since oh, Nixon? Would Clinton have been impeached if the economy was tanking instead of skyrocketing in the late 90's? Censure seems the most likely compromise. Everything is now about scoring political points, regardless of the consequences...

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) But there is minor league help ready for third base. It's called the "Matt Davidson/Yolmer Sanchez Show", once Moncada is brought up to play second. Wouldn't you rather see what those two can possibly do to further future White Sox winning ambitions than watch Frazier saunter off into his mid-30s in a Sox uni? What good would that do for anyone? Another thing to think about which can help you with your soon-to-experience separation anxiety when they trade Frazier, is to remember that he isn't part of the Sox brain trusts' "current" plan, i.e., the "rebuilding" plan. Frazier, like Cabrera and Robertson, is a remnant of the "last" plan hatched by Williams & Hahn, i.e., the "three year" plan described to us back in 2015 to explain away that season's futility. The three year plan, as you may recall, was designed to maximize the window of opportunity provided by a solid, young core comprising the likes of Sale, Q, Abreu, Eaton, etc. Frazier was a piece brought in to accomplish the objectives of that plan. However, as we all know, the Sox brass pulled the plug on the three year plan a year and a half into it, and have since moved onto their newest adventure, the rebuild. So you see, in this case, you sort of need to throw the baby out with the bath water. No more three year plan, no more need for the veterans who were brought into try and make that particular plan work. The Shields/Tatis Jr. move was pretty much the death knell for retooling/competing transactions.

Interesting debate between Leury, Engel, Rymer Liriano (based on last month), Willy and Delmonico (perhaps)...

Holding Q would only make sense if Rodon's a 4-6 war pitcher going forward (2018-20/21). Who wants to take that bet? Nobody really has a clue right now what to expect out of him and Anderson...or Avi, for that matter, the next two years.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) Okja is very solid. Not best of year but very good. Gylenhaal's overacting really knocked it out of Best Picture category, but very strong recent progress in Asian cinema. Snowpiercer, another example. "Your Name" (Kimi No Na Wa), Japanese animation, also very well-received. Set box office records all over the place. Cool soundtrack.

7/9 games (Lopez, Flores + Futures game)

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/ml...e160422754.html Rymer Liriano on fire in recent weeks... Ops up to 719, .333 average last 30 games, destroys LHP at home during day games, but lefties at Charlotte in particular. Would be good platoon bat matched with a lefty. -
Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
caulfield12 replied to username's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You are potentially more reasonable than a certain statewide-elected officer we all know and love, famous for his austerity policies. Definitely more reasonable than Ozzie after winning the World Series! And assistant managers at approximately 75-80% of local neighborhood Applebee's franchises? -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 08:18 AM) I read his posts and everyone elses for that matter and for the most part move on. It's easy not to say anything to him because I know he will get his responses without me. To get attention you must be somewhat annoying and open to criticism .That's why Caulfield is probably the 2nd most notorious member of Soxtalk. Also a catchy member name helps. Thanks for the complimentary non-compliment, lol... -
http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...=&players=0 Tied at 19th/20th with Jason Vargas at 2.0 fWAR. 4.01/4.13 fip and xfip. 26th in dips. But Vargas 4.0 bwar and Quintana only 1.0 in that category. Era plus from 126 to 95 this year. Whip up nearly 0.16. Would A's also sell try to high on Manaea? What is Shark's real value...his stats are so out of whack this year, and then you have his contract to deal with.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 08:03 AM) Pretty sure I would have made a bigger stink about it, since the kid should have had the seat. lost in this is why didnt the guy with the same seat, or who was given the kids seat, volunteer to take another flight? I guess we'd have to know that he was fully aware of the circumstances? That weight and age, he was close enough to being barely under 2 that it wouldn't be obvious at all to a non-parent. Most Chinese think our biracial son is actually 3-4. Nobody ever guesses 2, which is cutoff for your own seat. Japanese babies tend of be smaller...or, in this case, Japanese American. And yeah, there's no way I would have let it go after being charged. I would ask to speak with supervisor and diligently present the 3-4 different methods of proving the seat belonged exclusively to our family. We also don't know how much United made in profit by selling that additional last second ticket? Or was he simply on stand by and hoping to get bumped to an earlier flight? And for what reason? David Daos's primary argument was not to miss the one day a week (Monday) he was allowed to see patients and basically earn a living. He would have had to fly the following day, not later Sunday.

Who would have predicted Albers and Turner being useful ultimately for the Nats?

I'll just say this much. Our son is one month older and weighs a full eight pounds more. My 60+ year old wife's grandmother has held him in her lap for longer periods of time than that, and she weighs about 90-100 pounds. So this whole idea of grievous injuries to the woman holding the baby is undoubtedly an exaggeration, but they could have simply looked at the original itinerary...his boarding pass that had him assigned to an actual individual seat, her credit car/payment record or invoice, etc. I have a feeling deep down she knew not resisting and then going after the airline (publicly, after flight was over) was the best strategy, and that's how it's playing in the media, to her advantage. In the final summary, United really screwed up, but they already comped two free tickets or refunded all her money...not to mention the fact proving criminal/civil damages and injuries would be incredibly difficult. Her leg was painful or fell asleep? How much is that actually worth in a court of law?

Depends on your economic analysis of how sustainable $20 trillion in debt is as we keep on adding to it by not coming close to balanced budgets...even after the initial 2-3 year stimulus package and QE bursts and low interest rates for an extended period of time.

Lopez and Collins missing...presumably Top 51-100. Fulmer out of the Top 100. Dunning added (presumably). Not sure what to make of Burdi exactly, but relievers usually aren't ranked anyway.

The hell they calling up Moncada? THE THREAD
caulfield12 replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 09:30 AM) My concern is that Moncada is not really a finished product yet. Defense is still fringy and he still strikes out quite a bit. Waiting until May/June 2018 to call him up might end up being better for his development overall and help us gain another season of control. That's highly unlikely to occur...at some point, the fans will need to see some results. The best prospect in baseball should be able to handle himself by the end of this year at Charlotte (Sept 1st roster moves). He's not a 19/20 year old. Or even 21. He'll be just fine. -
QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 06:34 AM) My idea for Frazier was for the Angels to acquire him to play third, thus moving Escobar back to second. Red Sox and also the Yankees, to some extent, are possible Melky, well, see above. Angels, Royals make the most sense as far as need, but its tough to see a fit, money-wise. Pujols and Alex Gordon aren't going anywhere...Gordon is starting to hit well the last ten days. They could use a replacement for Soler if he continues to suck, though. Moss has been bad...Bonifacio cooling down. Beyond that, the KC payroll is stretched too thinly...they need pitching more than anything, another starter and replacement for Strahm, who's now out for the season.

7/5 Games (Danish, Guerrero, Hickman)
caulfield12 replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (Username @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 05:42 AM) From what I've heard the FB is low 90s but can run up to 94. The curve has made massive strides and his changeup is great. Plus he's a lefty, and was well liked by scouts before struggling last year. I think it's pretty silly to dismiss him. I am not dismissing him at all. Scouts and GM's fall in love with the big arms. It's human nature, especially in today's game with 100+ Mph readings all over the place. And the three guys (other than Wells) to make the biggest impacts were three finesse pitchers in Garland, Buehrle and Fogg, who was actually a reliever closer at Univ. of Florida, but even then never blew batters away with stuff. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 11:53 PM) I think personally it's time for an official warning. We tell China, Russia, North Korea and South Korea that if there is one more missile test, we will be dropping 3 bombs on North Korea, hopefully where Kim Jon Un is residing. We tell S. Korea to take the necessary precautions. We tell Americans in South Korea it might be wise to get the hell out of there. We cannot risk this any more. The last bomb can reach U.S. soil. We have not developed technology apparently to blow up the bomb in the sky. What else can we do? War sucks but if China and Russia won't get him to stop this nuclear bulls***, we have to try to take out the North Korean president. Otherwise he will lob a nuke at Alaska and eventually our mainland. Do you agree?? They are leaving us with no options. They have the technology, but it's not 100%. Close. Right now, they would have to defend Alaska, but oil refineries are probably the most logical target. Pretty sure we have an air base as well.
