Zach Burdi headed to Birmingham
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 08:10 PM) I'm sure plenty though about it. Just like many thought Sale Fulmer/Danish would only be a reliever due to his odd mechanics.

A DH hitting for a lower OPS number than a defense-first CF tells you everything you need to know. The triumvirate of Robertson/Jones/Duke is fine. Jennings has been pretty good but Ventura has rarely trusted him as a higher leverage guy. The obvious problem is with Albers and everyone else they've tried from AAA. I suppose Ynoa's been a bit better than expected.

Garcia has a 642 OPS now. Does it need to fall below 600 for something to happen?

Yankees' radio announcers asking why Rodon throws EVERYTHING hard and why he hasn't developed a soft/er 3rd pitch, lol??? Even the slider is relatively hard...not having that 10 MPH differential you'd ideally like to see, especially when Rodon is throwing 90-93 MPH fastballs instead of 94-98. DJ and Farmer have been after him for weeks...especially why he's intentionally deciding to throw the fastball at a much more "batting practice" oriented pace in this era of 95+ throwers.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 07:36 PM) I wonder after working with Cooper for so long if Rodon is even capable of throwing 98 anymore. Maybe his arm atrophied. Use it or lose it. Maybe it would be better for the Sox to get a different pitching coach to work with Burdi. He was 95-97/98 at different points his last time out. He was really throwing hard two starts ago. Don't get it.

Rick Hahn
Rick Hahn is jealous we're not discussing him anymore. Maybe he can run as Trump's VP!!! As far as democracy, SMALL D, goes...China is changing a lot more to the Mao Zedong "command and control" authoritarian style than it ever was during the entire period of Hu Jintao and Wen Jiaobao. Obviously, with economic fortunes turning and the ability of people to organize through social media increasing (not to mention issues with Islamic separatism in western China), they're doubling down in terms of trying to maintain control of the country, propaganda, the RMB/stock market/capital outflows, etc.

107 hits in 91 IP. That's more Buehrle/Danks-esque. Certainly not what you'd expect from a future ace. Should we just be contented not to have Kolek or Aiken? Career 3.94 ERA with 227 hits in 226+ IP.

Rodon leaving EVERYTHING up. 4.43 ERA is not going to get it done for a #3 starter.

Makes ZERO sense to throw 90-93 MPH meatballs when you can throw 94-98. Hanging slider. Goodbye White Sox momentum.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) Avi doesn't do anything well. 1) Looks good in a uniform. 2) Occasionally gets off impressive throws. 3) Robbed homer against NYY last year at the fence. 4) Runs well about 2-3 seconds after he actually gets close to full acceleration. NO MORE FIRST PITCH FASTBALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least we're not the Tigers (facing 0-11 vs. CLE)/Royals tonight. Still in this one. Barely. There's about to be a huge run on starting pitching from all the contenders. Caveat emptor.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 06:09 PM) Caulfield, don't you have a newborn? How in the world do you have this much free time? Not trying to hate, I just know how much time a two year old sucks out of your life. Yes, we have a nanny and the grandmother stays with us....so it's a lot different from the "Western" idea of childraising. I am good at feeding, being patient (honed from years dealing with Dick Allen) and entertaining/holding. He's to the point where I can alternate between ipad and watching him. Plus, he loves to look at anything digital and investigate (ipad/iphone/laptop). In the morning, he enjoys music on CCTV-15 and cartoons, so that helps keep him occupied. And he's 16 months old, so not speaking many intelligible words but running like a demon all over the place, trying to touch/grab/hold everything within reach and many things that are not.

Hope that Eaton/Q at least get recognition of being included on the Fan Vote/Final 5 list. Might end up with only Eaton, unfortunately.

Indians already up 2-0 over DET. Threatening 11-0 on the season series. Wouldn't bet a house on Anibal Sanchez over Carrasco. Amazing Stat of the Day. Detroit is 44-29 against all of MLB and 0-10 against CLE. Rodon has struggled with the Yankees (10 ER's in 9 career IP)...let's hope he can figure it out.

I have to watch out for my fellow Kansas Citian. Like a Congressian! Actually, since I lived on Genessee (near KU Med) and that's only two blocks east of State Line, might as well have been a Kansan. It's all good. If Dick Allen, Marty34 and ncorgbl were the same person, I would understand it a bit more.

Zach Burdi headed to Birmingham
If all that's true, why did no other organization think to convert him into a starter? Remember all the hype over Tyler Kolek two years ago? This is a guy with a similar large frame (albeit older) throwing over 100 MPH. Why wouldn't he be a Top 10-15 pick (for other teams)?

Zach Burdi headed to Birmingham
Nate Jones throws 96-100 MPH. We all know how hard Jenks threw. Let's just assume that Burdi's agent took a 100-101 or even 102 and massaged the number up a bit. Everyone's now getting carried away assuming he's going to fly up like Aroldis Chapman and dominate when he was giving up 1 H/IP. How long did it take Jones, Jenks or even Addison Reed to make it?

The part about Roots was hilarious, although done in true J4L/Whitlockian fashion...like SBC in Borat. Nobody else could get away with saying that kind of stuff. Greg Vs. the FBI Greg Vs. Anyone who impugns Ozzie or 2005 White Sox team members Greg (1st person) Vs. Greg (Bob Dole 3rd person)

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) Today is one of the worst days in modern American history (excluding violence and deaths, of course). During a time in history in which Americans are sick of politicians and their bulls***, the FBI acknowledges inappropriate activity by Hillary yet recommends no charges. Just a few days after the attorney general visits with Bill Clinton on a fricking tarmac of all places. Oh my gosh, what has this country come to?? At least the NY Post says it all. FBI's double standard here is outrageous, the paper reports! I am ashamed of America today. If Americans are dumb enough to actually vote for this person, I don't know what to say. Wait I do know what to say. Just as Kansans voted in Brownback for a second term despite his actually being even a worse government official than Hillary, a majority of Americans will actually vote for this woman. Unfricking believable. Where's the pride in our country?? Thanks FBI for one of the worst decisions of all time. It's not what you know, it's who you know, pepole and never ever forget it. And it's all about the elite and their privelege. Hillary should get good n drunk tonight. This FBI decision deserves the best wine money can buy. ... Inexplicably, some of the poorest Americans, the ones with the least in common with Hillary and what she believes in, are her most ardent supporters. Unreal. I'd ask America to do the right thing and have her stand trial on perjury charges in this email case, but those charges also would be thrown out by the corrupt government. http://nypost.com/2016/07/05/fbi-boss-outr...-hillary-skate/ That's true, but just as many poor/lower middle class, white males (mostly without an education higher than an associate's/technical or vocational school)....are resolutely supporting Trump, when their economics interests aren't aligned at all. Their vote is largely about race/religion/bigotry & hate. Congressians? https://www.buzzfeed.com/gavon/top-20-achie...NO65#.nj4mzA9Z8 Here you go, Greg. Try these 20 on for a start. Try to read and respond without mentioning Hillary at least once. Sometimes you need to ignore the "noise" and look at the objective truth/s. Do you blame Bill Clinton for Columbine? There were a series of shooting/incidents just as bad when he was President. Remember Oklahoma City? Ruby Ridge? The Branch Davidians/Waco/David Koresh?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 04:46 PM) The difference is the mods aren't panning the move years later in a desperate attempt to try to look like they have any clue about baseball. I,suppose he could have been more like,Dayton Moore and spent money on Omar Infante. SEE BELOW/ABOVE... If I was computer expert, there would be an accompanying series of arrows pointing down/up. But yeah, I'm sure he's quite ashamed of getting to the World Series twice in a row and coming one hit away from two in a row...despite the fact that KC is the smallest media market in the NFL/NBA/MLB. What an idiot, because he missed on Alex Rios and Omar Infante.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) you are posting like 4 posts for every 1 other member posts, and honestly your points are so scatterbrained and contradicting from one post to the next(and sometimes within the same post)that nobody can help but notice how overwhelming your presence is. And I agree with Dick(dont tell him), the Sox start winning again and all you want to do is tell everyone that they suck pretty much every chance you get. You need to re f***ing lax Dear Mr. Keymaster: Just for your information, it's summer vacation time for teachers. Thanks for your concern/s about my posting habits. If you have any good book recommendations, would love to hear them. I've seen every possible movie so far, caught up with Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley and am waiting to buy books back in the U.S. At any rate, I will be traveling to (and throughout) the US for three weeks starting on July 16th so please don't encourage Dick Allen to feel too encouraged or he'll start writing taunting posts even when I won't be there to respond, then claiming some type of Pyrrhic victory...whether the Sox are playing well or not. Maybe if he's lucky, all of Central China will be washed away first and he won't have to hear from me again, and he can go back to debating with Thad Bosley & Co. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration, The Caulfield12 PS: Hope there are more comics-related movies coming out soon for you to dissect.
