  1. War chest is too big this time. Too much money at stake for both sides to damage the sport like 1994-95 did. Even the bigger market clubs want to reign in Dodgers Mets Yankees Blue Jays.
  2. Not yet ... Fear of commitment until he finds a more permanent home. Cubs are drawing just as many if not more Japanese tourism due to team record, Northshore shopping, historic stadium and Imanaga/Suzuki.

  4. When did the Sox run bottom three payrolls for three consecutive years? Proof is in the pudding. Put up or shut up. Murakami both Montgomerys Cholowsky/#41 pick Bonemer Davis Martin Schultz Teel NINE candidates.
  5. Cleveland has the stockpile of young pitching, DeLauter, Valera, Bazzana...to go with S.Kwan and Jose Ramirez. At least a one year head start.
  6. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/dodgers-became-first-mlb-team-160000837.html https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTRAQtUkhfH/ Also Kose cosmetics/skin care, Toyo Tires, Kowa The Dodgers’ average ticket price was $87 last year, which ranked fourth behind the Yankees ($99), Chicago Cubs ($90) and Boston Red Sox ($89), according to MLB’s internal report. But coming off their 2024 World Series, the Dodgers raised 2025 prices and challenged the Yankees for the top spot. Source The higher prices are fueled in part by demand triggered by the arrival of Shohei Ohtani for the 2024 season on a then-record 10-year, $700 million contract. Ohtani has also supercharged sponsorships for the club. The Dodgers added a steady stream of new sponsor deals during the 2024 season, including Japanese brands All Nippon Airways, Daiso, Kosé, Kowa, Toyo Tires and Yakult. SponsorUnited estimated it meant $70 million in incremental sponsor revenue. Basically the White Sox are getting $250-500,000 per game in comparison. Ohtani's $200 million impact almost equals TOTAL team revenues for Sox A's and Rays/Marlins. 7. https://www.si.com/mlb/dodgers/onsi/dodgers-making-over-200-million-per-year-from-shoheii Los Angeles Dodgers On SIDodgers Making Over $200 Million Per Year From Shohei Oht...A new report shows that the Los Angeles Dodgers are making a massive profit off Shohei Ohtani.
  8. The Japanese market for Ohtani is larger than the US market. The Dodgers make in excess of $100M in revenue from the media rights and merchandise sales in Japan....on top of their share of television rights all teams share. The Dodgers will make almost a half billion dollars more than Ohtani's 10 year contract. https://www.japanstadium.com/blog/so-stadium-economics1 The most impactful aspect of Ohtani’s arrival has been the Dodgers' substantial increase in sponsorship revenues, specifically from Japanese corporate giants. New partnerships with UNIQLO (fast fashion), Hello Kitty, Daiso, Yakult (milk/dairy), and ANA (airlines) exemplify how global star power can unlock previously inaccessible revenue streams. This surge in Japanese brand engagement not only diversifies the Dodgers’ revenue base but also strengthens their position in the Pacific Rim as a transnational sports enterprise. According to SponsorUnited, Ohtani’s marketability alone added approximately $75 million in sponsorships, significantly offsetting the substantial costs of his historic 10-year, $700 million contract.
  9. "The Cleveland Guardians remain in first place. The Detroit Tigers remain in first place. Both teams are 18-19 but that mark is a half game better than the 17-19 White Sox and 17-19 Royals. The 16-20 Twins are just 1.5 games out. These are the saddest sentences I have written in some time. Cleveland lost in KC last night by a 5-3 score. They didn’t look all that interested, but they were more interested in playing than they were on Monday. Baby steps..."
  10. Grichuk is basically just a lesser version of Hays "Despite the favorable matchup deployments, Grichuk didn’t hit over his scattered playing time. He batted .194 without a home run while striking out 10 times. He worked one walk and had a .212 on-base mark. Grichuk didn’t perform especially well against left-handed pitching last season either, batting .227/.273/.430. He was among the best hitters in MLB against southpaws from 2022-24, however, destroying them at a .317/.367/.573 clip. He connected on 25 homers, 34 doubles and four triples in just under 500 trips against lefties over those three years. Grichuk hasn’t played center field in three seasons and has been a well below-average hitter against righty pitching. It’s a limited profile but one the Sox feel comfortable carrying on their bench. They lost right fielder Everson Pereira to the injured list last week with a pectoral strain. Jarred Kelenic was selected onto the MLB roster in his stead and is out to a 1-6 start over three games. The lefty-hitting Kelenic and right-handed Austin Hays — a similar player to Grichuk — are dividing right field work." mlbtraderumors.com

  12. Can't expect every prospect to hit the ground running. Pitching already taking a hit. Expectations for Braden and Bonemer and Cholowsky probably on the unrealistic side...that they're just going to take off like Colson and Murakami. Teel definitely will have his struggles getting his timing back. Hitters that miss ST and 1-2 months almost always do struggle until the second half. Martin's not going to remain third best starter in mlb.
  13. Or we can simply blame him and JR for extending the contract into 2025/26 when cutting bait entirely seemed the most prudent course after the last two seasons. There was no surplus value remaining after those two injury plagued and underperforming years...which is how exactly Getz ended up with a -0.6 fWAR value "suspect" player. Would have been better to take on Vientos, and simply turn around to trade him, too.
  14. James Kruk, by the way, is the head athletic trainer who was in charge of Luis Robert during the majority of his Sox career.
  15. "But regardless of where he finishes, undoubtedly, the White Sox will be building their future around Robert. They knew this, of course, when they signed him to a big-money contract extension before he’d played a single major league game. They didn’t know he’d be one of the only players the White Sox based their future on to actually live up to the hype. While injuries and underperformance have prevented the expected successes of Jiménez, Yoán Moncada and, to a lesser degree, Tim Anderson to this point in their careers, Robert, finally blessed with health this season, has become that otherworldly talent. “I honestly think he’s very underrated, and it’s really not fair to him. I think he’s one of the best in the game,” Touki Toussaint said. “He needs to be on that list of all those other guys.” This is, of course, what the White Sox are paying Robert to do. Robert was billed as a six-tool player on his way to the big leagues. No one ever said the sixth tool was leadership."
  16. Glad that I have so much power and influence. What next, I should initiate Crowdfunding/GFM campaigns since JR will never personally shell out the money required for extensions to our young core players?

  20. Way too much swing and miss in his game on breaking balls Need a higher contact rate hitter in middle of order unlikely to be Braden or Bonemer Cholowsky?????
