Sox fall from 26th to 28th, Yahoo Sports org under 26 power rankings
White Sox drafted last for 2025 WS winners draft... 30. Chicago White Sox "Leitch: After 121 losses in 2024, things can only get better in 2025. There are some players to watch here, too. Will Luis Robert Jr. do enough to rebuild his trade value? Can Miguel Vargas, Korey Lee and Colson Montgomery establish themselves as big league regulars? Can Joey Gallo resurrect his career? The White Sox may be a little better this year under new manager Will Venable – but only a little." https://www.mlb.com/news/picking-2025-world-series-favorites

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Even though Reinsdorf's share is only 25% (at most, supposedly), he always has maintained full control and veto rights with the Board of Directors...so basically it doesn't matter if his shared was 5%, he would still have official control of the franchise until that's relinquished either willingly or through death (passing on son, in theory). The public pressure on this issue is going to continue to increase if the White Sox keep sporting the lowest payroll in the entire sport. There's also the theory that Ishbia doesn't want to get involved with negotiating the next CBA with the MLBPA as a "bad guy", but that's just speculation and who knows, he might even be siding with teams like the Dodgers and Mets in terms of unfettered free market spending (minus the CBT on payroll overages). Maybe Ishbia is waiting for the team to bottom out in 2025/26, but he's going to want to be involved 100% in the new stadium plans because theoretically most or all of the money's coming from him...let's say $700 million to $1 billion depending on the scope and scale of the project.

Pohafsky or something quite similar. The two sons fought over father's autographed baseball collection when he died and it went to court...I remember it made the Chicagoland news. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2011/07/05/fight-over-autographed-baseballs-leaves-pogofsky-family-battered/ Pogofsky...could probably look up both sons online for clues.

Nope...JR is still control person until giving that up officially.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
So we're looking at a range of anywhere from 30-60% of the team...assuming JR and sons at 20-25%. Maybe 10-15% that didn't sell but might be called upon for cash call investments into a new stadium project in the next 2-3 years...and hopefully there's news sooner rather than later on that front. Because it will only increase the value of the JR shares to work oat the framework for a stadium deal and advantages collective bargain ing agreement before 2027... Ishbia would surely want to control the design as it would be principally his money invested into the project.

Slater oblique strain
The guy who's annoying some by wearing a flat-billed cap style lol.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
I sat in that sort of like a RF terrace and then moved later to the second deck. It's nice...but pales in comparison to SF for example.

Maton for SS. No to Amaya. Tristan Gray would be okay not sure if he has adequate range for SS though with so any contact pitchers in the rotation.

ST: Battle for 29th place
August 2, 2022: Brent Rooker traded by the San Diego Padres to the Kansas City Royals for Cam Gallagher. That might be one of the worst trades in baseball history, with how Rooker has turned out since leaving the Twins. It was pretty much an unnoticed transaction back then.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
That's one of the reasons their payroll has been pretty much frozen since they beat the Yankees in the postseason. Around $130 million...although they've recently "found" another $5 million or so. $66 million of their payroll (roughly half) devoted to Correa, Buxton, Christian Vasquez (terrible last season) and Pablo Lopez. Kyle Farmer (of all people) their fifth biggest salary at $6.25 million. Carlos Santana and 4th/5th outfielder Manuel Margot next. Really top heavy roster with same problems as White Sox used to have (too much money invested at the top and not enough money to fill out the rest of the roster cost-effectively, unless almost all pre-arbitration players). (The often-injured Chris "The Sheriff" Paddack will make $7.5 million in 2025 in the final year of his contract, which is a fair salary for a back-end starting pitcher. In 2024, Paddack pitched to a 4.99 ERA in 88 1/3 innings before missing the second half of the season with a forearm strain.) If Walker Jenkins becomes a superstar, they might be fine...though.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
Well, yeah...that all makes sense, is perfectly logical. It won't take much to push JR over the edge after the Bulls have seemingly given up competing and now with the White Sox under the magnifying glass again for worst record in baseball history. That's the only reason they supplemented the roster with all those veteran additions. To stave off another national embarrassment.

Slater oblique strain
There's ZERO reason to rush Slater back to play in the COLD April weather... Just let the usual AAAA suspects play and maybe one catches fire.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
Answer: not much I don't think any Sox fans want to see Teel, Quero or Montgomery until May at the earliest...and likely they see the merits of holding back Schultz/Smith/Taylor until May 2026 as well. Luis Robert being traded would leave Vaughn and Benintendi as practically the only identifiable players to the majority of casual Sox fans.

Sox Spring Training notes
About as many things happened as possible without a run scoring, but that's all that matters in the end. Hagen has had traffic in all four of his innings to deal with, pretty sure.

Boras on end of ESPN/MLB partnership...
Especially with uptick in MLB ratings in the last year, Ohtani's 50/50 year, Yankees/Dodgers, Home Run Derby and All-Star game are attracting more eyes as well as the Minor League All-Star games/prospects in general, etc. It's weird to think their operating revenues are pretty close to identical...with franchise valuations MAYBE 10-15% higher (on average) for the NBA recently.

The location is fine. Downtown light rail public transit and that inter connected tunnel system between buildings. The stadium is fine. But won't require replacement for 15-20 years. Secondary media market. Decent loyal fan support but always in that 18-24 range attendance wise. Why would you pick Twins at $1.5 billion over Sox under valued at $1.8??? Last sentence already invalidated as they did choose Sox investment knowing they'd have to put significantly more in for a new stadium. Building a new stadium is a significant aspect of why billionaires enjoy these playthings/hobbies.

ST: Battle for 29th place
Burn. Well..the only thing that mattered today was Smith Schultz Teel and Braden Montgomery. Unless you're a fan of Nick Maton at age 28. Or your former Rays' utility guy Tristan Gray obsession...another homer. Pretty sure I'm one of only a handful of Sox fans in the world waking up at 5 am to follow two SS spring training games that are not being broadcasted except Brewers' radio for one of them lol.

ST: Battle for 29th place
Sox temporarily fall to 2-9 but should win other game with late homer driven comeback. WestEddy will be elated Padres and Sox will both be 3-9.
