  1. You ranked Smith that high because he has to stay on the roster or be offered back...or you're unsure about Thorpe's long-term viability as a starter/health/injury status? Or both? Nastrini arguably could be lower than Iriarte, but that's not really a big difference obviously.
  2. Cannon and Thorpe right now (before the Big 3) are the only even 50/50 possibilities sticking around. Martin seems likely to be traded. Perez for sure will be traded if he's anywhere close to second half 2024 results with the Padres. Wilson if they don't need to keep him to eat innings and protect the next wave. Scholtens...not even sure he's long for baseball, let alone representing any type of trade value when/if he returns. But the next wave is Iriarte, Mason Adams, Ky Bush, Nastrini, Carela, Eder (likely a reliever from all indications)...Berroa, but he might already be out (with elbow injury) and he's once again more likely a reliever. There are a LOT of dudes and the overall depth seems better, but what's the actual quality of that depth?
  3. Wasn't that the Hindustan or some Indian AI-driven news site that broke the last BIG BIG Sox story, lol?
  4. Fighting in the stands is becoming increasingly common. People bringing their petsonal/political beefs into sports fandom too.
  5. He didn't buy the Twins partially because he much prefers staying in Chicago.... Do it right and you have a gold mine with a split of the third largest media market. New stadium possibly. Downtown adjacent. Cubs are going to be making a mistake if they don't make the playoffs this year and advance with Tucker...seems so unlikely he signs long-term. Ricketts clearly following the JR and KW "finishing 2nd-4th place is still a successful revenue producing season" philosophy from 2000-2012.
  6. Iriarte needs three pitches as a starter. Better location. Fastball not good enough to blow guys away when when down in the count. Not much confidence in his change up today. Maybe needs a cutter/splitter...two pitch mix simply doesn't work without dominant stuff. The only pitcher with close to great stuff SD has EVER traded under Preller was Gore in the Wood Abrams Santana Hassell deal for Soto. ONE guy. That was not a reliever profile first.
  7. Proof he's back lol. Over doing exuberance. Sitting FB first pitch...new reliever into game isn't going offspeed lol.
  8. Low low low pitches like the Thielbar homer....that was low and away but still slightly pulled to straight away CF. veteran LHP of course so that was encouraging
  9. He can drill low fast balls. That's a known. Fielding and belt high and above FBs are the unknown. Typically lefty hitting profile really. Just has to hit 230 or 240...no sub 200's numbers like Gallo. Or MMadonado. Also 0/6 on the spring. There's a correlation with him he absolutely sucks offensively.
  10. Sure...might as well retain one silver of hope lol. If Anthony and Campbell become stars in Boston we're still wondering what could have been...Marcelo Mayer was the only one that could have been pried loose, but then no Teel and Braden packaged together.
  11. Anderson was never in a million years good enough to be a big league closer. Don't need stats to bear that out. If not for White Sox he doesn't have a big league salary anywhere else.
  12. White Sox -26 Dodgers -15 DBacks -17 Nobody else in the majors in double digital in this category.
  13. No way in hell Anderson can be the closer. A lot of prognosticators had Colorado winning less games than the Sox this year. No way.
  14. Getz has to know he's getting fired or reassigned when Ishbia takes over. Maybe he will work again in baseball but never a GM again. Better off than Hahn...except Rick made a bundle of money for 10-15 years.
  15. batter appeals strike and wiped out sb
  16. Iriarte is the best hope for next wave???...good luck with that. Really need Thorpe or it's already a struggle on the depth chart.
  17. can we trade for Rockies out fielder? they seemingly have 7-8 guys Nolan Jones Jordan Beck Doyle only sure starter Hilliard 3-4 more guys in this one
  18. yanquiel fernamdez has some tools varland might have to go back to wrestling
  19. Give him SS. Make Montgomery prove he can field and hit belt high or higher fastballs first at Charlotte.
  20. Cannon too? He's likely another 4-5 guy. Burke only one who could be 2-3 guy at his best. Other than Big 3.
  21. We don't even know if we can count on Cannon to repeat yet though. Martin could definitely be more valuable to the Orioles though.
  22. Ofc fketcher k'd and then Mitchell k'd and called out on appeal scoring threat dashed Yan is most animated pitcher since ... Mark Fidrych
