  1. Ok that makes way more sense. Im interested to see what happens against Cleveland, New York, and Baltimore over the next few weeks.
  2. Basically what's going to happen all year is the Sox will be awful, then they will hit a stretch where they have gone 5-5 in their last 10 and posters will start to be like "Hmm maybe we aren't really that bad" and then they'll lose 6 in a row and it will be back to the dumps, then inevitably have another 5-5 game stretch and posters will be like "You know, maybe Chris Flexen IS a good SP option." "Call me crazy, but Gavin Sheets just might be the answer in RF". Then its back to the dumps again. Over and over, repeat.
  3. Bruh, who is WE? 90% of this board knew this was going to be a 100 loss campaign. Aint no we thought this was a .500 team.
  4. Depends on what your definition of notable signing is. Signing some mid tier FA to a 4 year $70 million deal is not notable to me. If they payroll is ~$50 million I need to see a difference maker added to this roster.
  5. 14 months from now, probably likely. I was more referring to this off-season. After we shed what little we have this deadline were not going to have much to work with in the off-season and I wouldn't expect them to make any notable signings.
  6. Im going to operate under the assumption that hes not someone they want to trade at this time.
  7. This statement has pretty much always been true though, so we know how it goes.
  8. Can't wait to see what he does next season with no money to spend and no assets to trade. Should be a banger.
  9. Im pretty sure its only posters on this board that think Bummer is a worthless piece of garbage.
  10. Hey a trade that makes sense, amazing.
  11. It seems pretty simple to me. If you can run a failing product but make money, where is the motivation to improve the product? Opposite end, if you run a failing product and aren't making money, that's where the motivation to make changes and run things differently will come from. The White Sox can run a mid organization and make money. The owner is perfectly fine with this approach. Things would be a lot different if they weren't making any money.
  12. Sticking with and rotating through washed veterans instead of trying to find some diamonds in the rough through waivers or other means is so puzzling to me. Just get Thorpe, Iriarte, and Montgomery at some point so we have something exciting to see.
  13. He was hot for a few starts, FIP up to 4.53 now and his last start was brutal against a shitty Cards team. We’ll see what happens, but I agree no way they get a top 100 for him.
  14. This guy wasn’t even around 3rd when Benintendi got the ball and there was zero chance at him
  15. One is a talented baseball player the other is not.
  16. Not much more, the life of a non elite 1B/DH
  17. And to think, if Max Stassi didn’t get hurt Lee would never have gotten this chance.
  18. 10 game difference, so it would be pretty close.
  19. For comparison sake, Martin Maldonado is totally washed. Can't play defense, can't hit. His OPS is .339. He's only at -0.8 WAR.
  20. Combined, they have been worth -2 WAR so far.. Its been 35 games. Benintendi is at -1.2 by himself. Hes not even roster-able, and we are stuck with him until 2028!
  21. The 5th guy is right there with him as well
  22. Sheets has been arguably our best bat this season so far and he has been worth a whopping 0.1 WAR. He is not going to get anywhere close to 2 WAR.
  23. I always assumed his bad season was largely in part to him just going through the motions to get that terrible season over with. This kind of confirms it.
  24. People got way too obsessed with fantasy packages for Cease that was like a top 20 prospect and then some. What they ended up getting was a Top 50 prospect and two more borderline top 100 prospects PLUS a solid controllable reliever who hopefully will be flipped for more prospects in a few months. This is not only an acceptable package, but a pretty damn solid one. After having the knowledge of what has happened so far this season, no way would I have wanted Dylan Cease to be on this team until July.
  25. Fully on board with this. We need a complete flush.
