  1. If there are shenanigans at play (again), I’d like to see an Indian take one to the ribs.
  2. He didn’t expect them to contend. Why spend heavily on a staff if you expect it to be a rebuilding year with moderate progression from last? This team was never intended to be in a race in July.
  3. Platoon him with Chase
  4. Bunch of .175-250 hitters and we pitch scared...nibble nibble nibble. It's 100% mental.
  5. Looked too deep in the hole to really make an out anywhere. The ricochet off his glove led to a run, though.
  6. Their offense 28th in baseball. It’s what’s so annoying about losing to them.
  7. Emerson supporters should listen the Garfein’s pod with Rusty Greer, Grady’s manager. For a manager trying to create hype around his potential 1-1 player, he sure didn’t sound very committal. Downplays his power (or lack thereof), struggles to come up with THE moment in his year with him, kinda dispels the whole “he’s the next Bobby Witt Jr” myth. Greer, being a former MLB player, has seen greatness. He sure seemed to be far from insinuating that he’s coaching a kid who could be one of the greats.
  8. *over the toughest month on our schedule
  9. Ya know how I know I’m getting old? Reading people freaking out about a loss in a 162 game season, sending them spiraling into talking s%*# about the same players they may love in a week. It’s baseball, not football. It’s a long season. Tip your cap and move onto the next game.
  10. Martin didn’t even make it out of the 3rd man. You’re going to go pretty deep into the pen when that happens.
  11. Had the right guy in the right place and he was a little bit off there in the 9th. Is what it is. Get em tomorrow.
  12. Make it like ACC college football, switch to a feed from the replay center showing what they’re watching and hearing them debate.
  13. Just joining so may have been covered, but with Benni coming on and Jacob CLEARLY making a case he belongs, wtf do we do when Mune returns? I suppose we could platoon him with Chase?
  14. On that error, DJ said he fielded it flat-footed, which could also be indicative of back pain. Have they ever said why he gets back pain? Recurring nature kinda points to something structural.
  15. We’ve scored 4. If the score holds, Kay is the culprit. Awful, awful outing.
  16. Clearly, we’re all mostly focused on Noah, Mune, and Teel coming back. Buttt…. if Shane Smith gets back to form and Hagen keeps it up, we could plug 2 SP slots. You get Tanner back healthy, he and his velocity could fit in perfectly in the pen as a bridge to Taylor. The pieces are in place on the 40-man to possibly supplement this team greatly.
  17. We’ve got a closer, we need an elite setup man who can go 2 if needed.
  18. That experiment needs to die.
  19. That shouldn’t even be considered an option. You watch the interactions on this team, Chase is 100% the glue guy on this squad.
  20. I have no doubt the org has been establishing a list of low cost, high upside pitchers for the last month who they believe will benefit from our pitching development and contribute quickly. I don’t expect anything fancy or big. In fact, I worry that sort of deal, bringing in a big name, could upset this team’s “why not us” mission. A very underwhelming move or two will be made, Soxtalk will erupt in frustration, and the 2-3 pitchers they get will be strong contributors by mid-August.
  21. Out in Denver on business and was at the game tonight. Left bottom of the 7th so regrettably didn’t get to see the walkoff. I did still get a small win, though. Got back to the hotel and got on the elevator with a family of Cub fans. I accidentally dropped my key card when trying to unlock the elevator for my floor. With elite wit and a perfect delivery, I let them know “I fumbled that like the I’m the Cubs”. Ok, the wit wasnt great and the delivery was probably a bit rushed, but the point was made. After admitting I’m a Sox fan, the mom let me know how frustrated she was the Sox have a better record “even without that Japanese guy”. We’re living in good times, boyz.
