Brutal schedule coming up so can’t burn through the pen to baby your 4/5 starter who is no longer an MLB caliber pitcher. You lose the game you lose the game…bailing him out there could cost you multiple games due to a depleted pen.

Is one of the runner’s legs longer than the other? In no normal route was Sam in the way. It was bushleague bullshit and the fucking umps awarded it (after JUST fucking Sam for what could be called bushleague bullshit (if the drop was intentional)).

Glue guys have places on MLB rosters, as long as their production is positive. Both Chase and Sam, early in their careers, are showing themselves to be competent MLB ball players. We aren’t in the locker room, but even from the outside it’s clear that the two of them are part of the team’s core personality. We made fun of Hawk for his TWTW theory, but there is something to it. If they can’t carry their weight, I’m with you. But it’s clear Getz and team value bringing in the right people as much as they value bringing in the right players.

I live down in ATL and went to the Cubs Braves finale tonight. They took over Truist…it was crazy. I hate that they’re leaving here on a high note. Had the Braves swept them, they may have been more vulnerable this weekend. Sidenote…having grown up in Chicagoland, I always despised the Cubs. I haven’t lived up there since 1994, so a lot of that Cub hate has been diminished. Until tonight, that is. Their fans are as awful as I remember from back in the day. I did enjoy the sCrUB fan behind me who, to describe a Braves player hitting .146, said the guy is “hitting one and a half”. Who says that?

Fenway is such an overrated dump. Nostalgia aside, it’s awful. Kauffman was stale as could be outside of the waterfalls. I haven’t been since the new updates have been made, so maybe it’s much better? Truist should be higher. The Battery gets all the love but that’s a really cool ballpark inside.

I don't doubt Getz and company are trying their best given the constraints they've been given, but any normal owner would be embarrassed seeing this OD roster. JR isn't even trying any longer.

I think this would be an enormous mistake. The dude is a gamer, full of TWTW. Not even being sarcastic.

Strong C to a light B. I understand the 102 loss argument, but I don’t feel things are that black and white. There’s a whole lot of nuance and circumstance behind that number. He came on the scene with a roster in complete disarray coupled with a severely toxic locker room. He made a slam dunk managerial hire and has brought in character-first players to completely rebuild the culture of this franchise. Doesn’t matter how great your roster is if the culture is irreparably toxic. To me, he has aced the biggest test of his tenure. Once you have a strong culture (and a dead Reinsdorf, if we’re being honest), it becomes much easier to attract talent and bring guys up from the minors to a good, supportive situation.

Gotta give Brooks at least a few games out there, eh?

Habit. I truly believe Sox fans are a group who are preconditioned to b****, moan and whine about this franchise. It's the result of damn near 50 years of incompetent ownership and underperforming rosters....it's essentially part of Sox fanhood to complain. You can't follow this team closely and not complain. I don't watch NEAR as much Sox baseball as I used to...the LaRussa/Grifol debacles were the last straws. When I do happen to watch a game and jump in the game thread, I'm amazed at how negative they usually are. And then I remember, these are the DIE HARDS still watching damn near every game no matter the Sox record. They have a completely different perspective than I do. I'm fucking thrilled to see the young guys hitting..could mean I can get back to regularly watching the Sox again (I miss them!). People that watch every game? They sure as s%*# aren't happy consistently losing. Losing means far more to them than me, and a month and a half of good offense means a lot more to me than it does to them.

I sure hope we've got scouts every damn where. Independent leagues, Mexican leagues, Latin America, Asia.....I mean, just identify people to take a flyer on, sign em cheap, and give em a shot. We've literally nothing to lose at this point. Maybe get lucky and find a diamond in the rough. Our system has zero answers.
