2012 MLB Catch All thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 1, 2011 -> 10:54 AM) He would need at least 3 more season to do that, if not more. That would put him at 51 years old. The question is, if he does reach 300 wins, is he a Hall of Famer? I still say no. Absolutely not, but he won't get there anyway.

Frasor $3.75M Option Picked Up
Didn't realize that one post had two Ohman's, so yeah, let's have this bullpen and call it a day... Axelrod, Reed, Ohman, Frasor, Crain, Thornton, Santos Trade Floyd and re-sign Buehrle. Buehrle, Peavy, Danks, Humber, Sale. I'm sorry, but I think this pitching staff can contend if things go right (Dunn, Rios, and Beckham get good).

Frasor $3.75M Option Picked Up
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) How about that. Santos Thornton Ohman Frasor Ohman Crain Reed gets the 7th bullpen spot? If they have Humber and Sale in the rotation, I think they'll need a long reliever that can give 4-5 innings occasionally. I don't think they have that now. I'd like Axelrod on the team next year.

Short, Blanke, and Saladino in action today. http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?si...perwin_msswin_1 The Rising Stars game will be on MLB Network next Saturday. Not sure if rosters are out, but I'd like to see Doyle, Short, and Saladino.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
We're stuck with Rios and Dunn for three years, so they might as well bring back most of the same team and try to turn it around with new leadership. Re-sign Buehrle if they can, trade Floyd or Danks for pitching prospects. Trade Quentin for pitching prospects. Rotation: Buehrle, Peavy, Danks/Floyd, Humber, Sale Bullpen: Axelrod and/or Stewart, Reed, Ohman, Crain, Thornton, Santos Lineup: De Aza, Ramirez, Viciedo, Konerko, Dunn, Rios, Pierzynski, Morel, Beckham Bench: Lillibridge, Flowers Lillibridge and Flowers will basically be platoon players, and they can add a veteran RH outfielder. Maybe Beckham or Morel can hit their way into the 2-hole. What I like about this team is that the expectations will be down, and they can find out If De Aza is a major leaguer, and if Sale can start in the big leagues without having to be the savior. If it works, great. If it doesn't, you weren't expecting it anyway.

2011 World Series Thread
In the 42 years of divisional play, the AL is 23-19 in the World Series. AL-- 1969-1993: 14-11 1995-2011: 9-8 Yankees and Red Sox have combined for 9-6 in that, so 13-14 otherwise. It's close. By the way, only three franchises haven't made the World Series in that time--Mariners, Nationals, and the , uh, yep....

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 29, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) LOL, it's one 7-game series. Look at interleague play, which is a much larger 252-game sample size which comprises of all the teams. The NL hasn't won interleague play since 2003. I'm sure it's out there, but what is the NL record in interleague play in NL parks? The advantage may just come down to the AL teams having a DH in AL parks. I like the AL style of baseball better, but I don't think one league is better than the other. It's just different.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) This man and his horde of rabid fellators are making me root incredibly hard against the Rangers. I can find a player or two on every team, including the White Sox, that I can't stand. Hamilton is one of them, but it's not going to prevent me from rooting for them. It's good for baseball when new teams win their first championships. And considering they lost it last year, and it's so difficult to get there, I really hope the Rangers win it tonight....then I'll root against them next year when they have Prince Fielder.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) See, I want the complete opposite. I just don't give a f*** about either of these teams so I want complete and utter chaos. If the Rangers didn't lose the Series last year, I wouldn't feel as bad. It's just so hard to get there, and they've never won a championship before. They may not get this opportunity for a long time even though they got there two years in a row.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 07:04 AM) Wow, what a game. It's funny how a game that was played poorly on so many levels will be considered such a classic. Thrilling...Memorable...Clutch AB's late....yes. But it was not a well-played baseball game. Poor defense, baserunning, and game management. A lot of it was a complete mess. Hopefully tonight Harrison and Carpenter do the bulk of the pitching tonight and it's just as thrilling. Go Rangers.

http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?si...scowin_msswin_1 I'd like to hear some scouting reports about Saladino's play at 3B and if this will be a permanent move next year at Birmingham. Also, is this Kloess guy something? His numbers have been great despite being kind of a prospect geezer.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) I'm betting that this move was also about getting a game on Friday (possibly). I'm sure it wasn't the entire basis, but when someone said there is a good chance for rain on Wednesday, I think they jumped at the opportunity to move it back. Friday's generally aren't good ratings nights. I think it's all about starting the games on time, and not having delays that turn the competition into a joke. And why would they want a trophy ceremony at 2am? That's just not good for the game. They made the right call.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) So, I'm betting Carp starts if there's a game 7, whaddya think? You have to think so. Washington has said Holland won't pitch, but how can you do that considering it's on normal rest and he's coming off a gem. My problem with Holland is that he's acted like a fool since Sunday doing every interview, doing hack comedy acts, etc. Maybe he's mentally cashed out of this now, and that's why Wash doesn't want to change the plan. Just a thought.

2011 World Series Thread
I think they did the right thing if they think there would be rain delays tonight and they know the weather is favorable for Thursday and Friday. Why start it, ruin the starting pitchers in the most important game of the year, and have it come down to the bullpens going 6-7 innings...while inconveniencing the fans and ending the game at 2am? Good move even if they could have gotten the game in eventually tonight.

2011 Cubs Thread
If I were a Cubs fan, I would probably be excited that they're bringing in management that has done it before. It starts from the top, and historically they've always been bad at the top, or didn't care about winning. It's not a guarantee that they'll win, but they're in better shape today than they were yesterday.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) Small thing, but I'm bothered that the Score is carrying the Epstein press conference when they did not carry Ventura's. They carried the 45 minute conference call live the day he got hired. The official press conference for the photo-op was about 15 minutes, and the Bears played the night before. It really was no big deal.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 10:50 PM) Impressive win by the Rangers. They looked horrible in that second inning but they rebounded. Those were gift runs, thus Cards really have been shutout the last two games. Momentum goes to Rangers but Cards still have their "wildcard" home field advantage. Good series. Really hope that it goes 7 games! Hell of a Series. After seeing the Rangers lose last year, I've gotta pull for them to get their first title. If it happens in 6 games, I'm ok with it.
