  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) Now the Indians are adding Ludwick, too??? Hmmm. Thornton/Floyd and/or Danks/Quentin/Ohman....get what you can for them KW. If they can make good deals, yes. Not just whatever they can get. I'm still holding out hope the Yankees make an overwhelming offer for Danks. Give me your Montero. Give me your Betances. Give me your Banuelos.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) Wow, that's a lot for a reliever... Rangers get $2 mill too.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) He hits left handed. Left handed pitcher on the mound. Left handed batters are not allowed to face left handed pitchers. Rules are rules. What do you expect, a manager to use his own judgment? His .304 average vs lefties in AAA...not good enough. Have a seat, De Aza.
  4. Rangers get Koji Uehara for Chris Davis and Tommy Hunter
  5. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) @whitesox Chicago White Sox Williams: Chances of any deal "very unlikely," saying potential deals all would hurt club's chances to win division. #WhiteSox That's fine. Hope for the best, but I expect the Tigers to win 86-88 games, and the Sox to win 83-85 games. They'll sell the hype of a pennant race and get a few extra tickets sold, get close and come up short. And then let the Kenny/Ozzie offseason drama commence.
  6. Adrian Gonzalez back in the lineup.

  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) Honestly, there's no reason for Thornton to be on the team 25 1/2 hours from now. It would be uncomfortable facing him in the playoffs if the Sox somehow find a way to get there. But yeah, he got closer money when they thought he would close, and with 2 years/12 mil due him after this season, I can't blame them for moving that contract now if the return is right.
  10. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) You don't think they CAN win the division or they WILL? There is a pretty big difference. It would take Rios and Dunn getting their stuff together and/or the Tigers having injuries. I really do think the Tigers will maintain their 1st place status. I don't think the Sox will ever pass them in the standings.
  11. If the Sox trade Thornton, then they don't think they can win the division. Which I agree.

  13. Man, I want them to get overwhelmed.
  14. Hairston to the Brewers. Damn...there goes the make-believe Rios deal.
  15. Danks?...ok this is getting ridiculous. Sounds like Kenny is just dipping his toes in the water to see what they can get in the off season. I still doubt the Sox make a major move, even though I don't think they'll ever catch the Tigers....sorry, I don't.
  16. Just for giggles... The Tigers have 56 games left. They are 31-25 in their last 56. If they match that, they finish 87-75. The Sox have 58 games left. They are 32-26 in their last 58. If they match that, they finish 84-78. The Twins have 56 games left. They are 33-23 in their last 56. If they match that, they finish 83-79. The Indians have 59 games left. They are 23-36 in their last 59. If they match that, they finish 75-87.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 10:06 PM) I don't know about trading both Floyd and Danks. You can go from a mediocre .500 team to a really really bad team in a hurry if suddenly you give up too much starting pitching. I realize Sox need to save money and all that, but do the Sox want to be a .400 team next year? True, but they'll probably re-sign Buehrle, and still have Humber and Peavy. Then Sale and Stewart will be in the mix. Yeah, now that I'm looking at it, might want to keep Danks as long as possible. It would have to be a huge haul to trade away Danks.
  18. I'm still in sell mode since I think the Tigers will get a pitcher and win the division. If I was bowled over, I'd be willing to trade Quentin, Thornton, Floyd, and Danks. What I think will happen now--they'll stand pat, or a very minor deal.
  19. To 86 wins... Detroit 30-26 White Sox 34-24 Sell.
  20. http://twitter.com/#!/CSNChi_Beatnik/s...061946091782144 Funny or disturbing?
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) I take it Morel has been DFA'd? The way Morel has been used this season, it feels like the Sox don't see him in their longterm future. Can't blame them for not wanting a singles-hitting 3B. His defense can only be so good. Wakefield going for his 200th win tonight, btw.
  22. If Quentin doesn't get traded before game time on Sunday, does he start? Awk....ward.....
  23. On a side note to this Quentin thing, has there been an update on Viciedo's thumb?
  24. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Mark is not due for a setback. He may have one, but he is not due. Mark has been one of baseball's best pitchers the last decade for a reason, and this year, he is getting ample rest. The rest I agree with you on, though. And if you look at his history over the last five years, he most definitely is due for a setback. I hope he keeps this streak of quality starts going, but chances are he'll have a few starts in a row where he gets beat up.
  25. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) With a rotation of Danks, Buehrle, Floyd, and Peavy, the Sox have a legit chance against anybody. As great of a season as he's having, Buehrle is due for a setback. Who knows what he'll have left in October? Danks-- yes, I think he'll finish strong. Floyd-- crapshoot Peavy-- kinda sucks If you include Humber, he's never pitched this far into a major league season. Not counting on much. This is another reason why I think the Sox should sell now. They've blown so many quality starts in the first half--now I think the rotation is due for some regression. Look, I just don't think this team is getting to 85 wins. Let the Tigers have it, and let them get bounced in 4 games.
