Yes, and Hawk was important to the Sox brand for a long time until he lost his fastball.
I just never viewed Benetti (now 40) that way. Hopefully the next announcer is better for all and the fans upset today will just get used to it. We may not have a lifer announcer ever again. And that’s ok.
Actually, you can have any take you want. It’s a baseball announcer. It’s not that big of a deal either way. If you never liked the schtick, you’re happy with this. If you liked his announcing, fine…check out his other assignments when you can.
They probably have to say things to cover themselves for future players in the same situation. I think they’re glad he’s gone, and he’s not coming back.
Wonder if they would Friday night news dump the TA decision. One way or the other, some aren’t going to be happy.
The Hendriks news was pretty obvious.
They’re just covering their butts in case the Sox pick up his option. If he’s back, then at least they can be around him and not be on record saying they wanted him gone.
My starting point of this offseason is that Moncada, Jimenez, and Anderson cannot be in spring training with the Sox.
If Adolis didn’t act like a jackass on the homer, maybe it goes the Rangers way. Baseball gods, guys. They’re real.
Still don’t like the ejections, but actions have consequences.
So they have discretion. In my opinion, don’t throw anyone out unless punches are thrown. It’s a playoff game. You can’t have it constantly in the regular season, but in the playoffs, calm things down, send Garcia to first , and continue the game.
Honestly, I don’t care if it’s intentional as long as it’s not at the head. It’s an emotional game. If they want to give a free runner in this case, take it, and move on. Maybe remember it next year.
