QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Jan 26, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) How do they know that you are buying two hot dogs, unless you enter that information somewhere? they have your cc info. -
White Sox and ticket sales, an inside look

QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Jan 27, 2015 -> 01:15 PM) If they are really "all in" this season and want to draw some crowds, they can do a few things IMO. It's time to have a concert going on outside the stadium before games, all games. Doesn't need to be a huge band, or any specific genre, just a band or DJ who can play good music and give fans something else to do before a game. The better the bands, the better the draw. There are plenty of musicians and local bands who would love to play outside a White Sox game on game night. Then they can also go around handing out White Sox swag to fans in the tailgate lots. Send some White Sox alumni out there with the swag to give autographs and take pictures. Doesn't need to be Paul Konerko or Frank Thomas, I'd be plenty happy seeing Chris Widger or Hank Perry walking around talking with fans. Make it consistent so people go there expecting to run into White Sox alumni. They can also have ticket reps walking the grounds with White Sox Swag to give away and an IPad to help take orders on special Tailgate only ticket specials. Example - A ticket rep may have a special tailgate lot ticket package for you and 7 friends to go to any weekday game (minus blackout dates), lower level, for $100 total. Crazy deals that have to be bought on spot at that time. Sell some urgency and the good feeling of White Sox baseball during tailgate. Then they can team up with sponsors to make tickets worth something after a game. Get a % off good or services the next day after attending a White Sox game, depending on Runs scored. Example - If the White Sox score 5 runs, and win, that gives you 10% off at (Sponsor) on the date following the game with ticket stub shown. If they score 2% and lose,it's 2% off the following date. Something like that to give the ticket extra value. Just a few of my thoughts. Go Sox. they have several bands play before games. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) That is probably pretty accurate. It is hard to peg an exact number because all of the partials have to be divided up according to their share (IE half season plan would be .5 people per game, 20 games would be .25 people per game, etc) and they might not be all on the same days. For example, I am sure the 7 game plans are heavier on weekends than Tuesday's just intuitively.the STH number is derived from "full season equivalents" . 3 27 game plans equal one full season seat. but the sox only have two 27 game options, so your actual full season account numbers show up in the 3rd game of a weekday series. the weekends always look bigger because they sell more weekend plans than weekday plans. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 25, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) No just bought them online. If you call the sox directly, you can avoid the fees. This goes for groups packages as well as season tix. Have you been assigned a rep?

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 25, 2015 -> 12:02 PM) Not related to single game tickets, but my buddy and I just bought our 7 game ticket plan! So pumped! U buy at soxfest? I know they were giving konerko bobbleheads out for purchases made at soxfest.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 25, 2015 -> 03:43 PM) Roch Kubatko @masnRoch · 2h 2 hours ago Told latest report has Jays ending negotiations for Duquette, an Os official said "That's what, the 4th time they've said that?" If things do stall, do you guys think that KW becomes an option again? The O's were asking for Jeff Hoffman, Max Pentecost, and Mitch Nay for Duquette. I don't think KW would require that compensation but what about something like Aaron Sanchez and D.J Davis? Kenny is going nowhere. This offseason proves it.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) That's a steep price for a FO piece Angelos is a jerk. And is a master negotiator.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) oh man i am going to hate this, but this was a nice show. how come the sox can't do something like this. shows the difference in media importance. They came off as a total clown shoes organization with that episode.

QUOTE (skobabe8 @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 08:14 AM) Getting worked up over a dumb joke from Ricketts at cubs convention is not the way I want to spend my time. The Sox have a more family friendly experience at the ballpark. They are hoping that builds generations of fans. I'm sure you guys know as much as I do that if you mention anything positive about the Sox to a Cubs fan, the attendance joke gets used. "Abreu was awesome last year." "Too bad no one showed up to see him." "I have Sox season tickets." "Do they let you sit wherever you want?" "Kids have more fun at U.S. Cellular Field." “Can’t be that many kids having fun at U.S. Cellular." It's the same garbage they always fall back on, no matter the discussion. Wash, rinse, repeat. True dat

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) And when they fail to have another .500 season? I suspect they'll get a new savior.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) No you couldn't. He was perfectly fine in 2012, and the Sox were in that until the very end. to be fair, the sox didn't plan to contend in 2012.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 10:00 AM) Look at Cubs attendance and tell me nothing has changed. and when they snagged maddon, the media was masturbating all over him and the "next year is now" narrative. and when they signed lester, it was as if they all but won the world series.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 08:01 AM) It is cute to see the Cubs ownership insecure about their own product. It tells me that Cubs ownership has the White Sox progress in the back of their minds, otherwise Ricketts dismisses the question instead of giving a response like a message board poster would. If the White Sox can overachieve a bit, and the Cubs continue their floundering under .500 we could see the start of a real shift in this town. Sox won a world series, and not much changed. And that was with cub teams that were horrible in 05-06
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 07:57 AM) If I'm a betting man, I'd bet on Cubs attendance increasing significantly. Not saying they will be good, but there is at least some buzz around the team, way more than the past 3 off-seasons combined. more likely the brokers sell the stock they have been unable to move in years past. I doubt we'll see much "new" sales. it'll be the people already locked into plans selling their wares.

QUOTE (Douglas Rome @ Jan 17, 2015 -> 05:10 AM) why are you guys apologizing for him? Adam Dunn sucked, he was awful, he was the worst p[layer to put on a Sox uniform in the last 20yrs, name me one worse? and who got paid more? Oh, he was a nice guy in the clubhouse, who gives a crap? For 56mil we paid him to be terrible, I could be as good as he was. we made him a rich millionaire he's laughing all the way to the bank. I hope I never see or hear from adam dunn ever again, geeez! thanks, douglas Dunn produced on terrible teams. And when he was expected to produce for a team that intended to win, he failed. He also seemed to not care. That's going to rub the fans the wrong way. That said, I doubt he takes a job with the sox, or any team. He has other financial interests that he seems to be more excited to explore.
-
Why do we care what Tommy Boy thinks about the sox? This is the same guy that finally gets to rebuild Wrigley, and he f***ed it up on the first try! We get to see outfielders struggle to not his scaffolding in april and may!

Anybody else left feeling a little disappointed?
ewokpelts replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
How can you be disappointed? The team has addressed major issues, and is set up to compete for the next few years. They look really good in a winnable division. -
QUOTE (South Sider @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) I think that in the best possible case scenario, this is what happens: Sox are winning or in the hunt some time after the All Star Break and/or Jeff is pitching well. Jeff discovers that he loves it here and would like to stay. Sox offer him a contract somewhere between Lester and whatever Shields gets, and he signs. Even a union person understands the value of not having to move away from your current home for a new job, especially if the job offer is fair. The Sox cannot afford to try and lowball him and upset him, and I don't think that they will. I'd rather this scenario play out then go into the free agent market next offseason needing to sign one of the top pitchers. He lives in Arizona.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 07:37 AM) The two main reasons the Sox signed him were to hit homeruns and get on base. How does a guy who hits for a low average get on base? Oh yea, by walking. When the bases are empty a walk is every bit as good as a single. But I'm guessing by your previous postings that you would much rather prefer a slap singles hitter who hit .300 but had a .650 OPS as opposed to a .220 hitter with a .800 OPS. Thanks, lasttriptotulsa. Adam Dunn didn't walk much? Sorry, you lose a lot of credibility with that statement. The two things he did best were walk and hit homeruns, both of which he did in spades with the Sox the last three years. From 2011-2014 his BB% was the 6th best in all of baseball and his total number of BBs was 4th best. Hell, even during 2011 which was one of the worst seasons in MLB history, his BB% was 8th best in all of baseball. He also hit the 5th most homeruns in all of baseball from 2012 to 2014. Not saying that his time in Chicago was any great success, but the last three years he was nowhere near being the White Sox' biggest problem. and his strikeouts still vastly outnumbered his walks.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) My first ban there back in '05 was saying "At least the Twins are losing too" in a game thread. They banned me for three days and told me to stay on topic. My last ban there was because I hit the "report user" button on Daver. Who was insulting me in a thread(supposedly a major no-no for a non-mod). I was given two weeks, and when I replied saying "what's this for" it was made permanent. I never even bothered to make a new username this time.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) You most certainly got banned because of this thread since they changed your initial ban from two weeks to forever. Their posters that haven't switched over here permanently are at least lurking here now if they actually want a consistent flow of White Sox news. Fact of the matter is they ran everybody out of there and the site is getting SWALLOWED. Pretty soon their mods will have to resort to banning each other because they're about all that's left over though. How to ruin a forum site 101. You're better off here MSS. In the WSI thread about the hitters mini-camp, one guy actually suggested they INVITE "notable" beer league players. Makes you want to post there! http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbullet...amp;postcount=5

QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) Well, it was a good 3 year run. Pretty sure I got booted because of this thread. Cheers! don't they still have a marketplace forum? you looking for a soxfest pass is exactly the reason they made a marketplace area. (Which I prompted them to do, by the way.....)
