  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 08:13 PM) If he can keep his pitch count down, Sale can get 15K tonight. Oppps
  3. Sox are good enough every year to give us hope and then screw it up in the end.
  4. QUOTE (RME JICO @ May 27, 2013 -> 10:06 PM) Yeah, one of the best rivalries will be lost. Detroit doesn't mind though because they won't have to lose to the Hawks so much in the future. The Wings fans really hate Crosby and the Penguins. That could be a new rivalry. Lol
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 16, 2013 -> 01:49 PM) He's a one pitch pitcher. If he's still got it, and loves to pitch, he should play until he can't. As of right now I think he should be in the All Star game but not as a starter because he's not a starter
  6. Well, guess what? A one game winning streak is not a shift. The offense is still missing and the pitching is running on fumes. Sale's gone today in the 4th and Sox hitters, well, don't have a hit.
  7. Who will get Floyds spot in the rotation? It looks like the elbow tendonitis that he just came off the DL for a few weeks ago is probably going to cost him at least two or three starts, i.e., most of September.
  8. Motown worried about Cabrera's ankle. It doesn't seem serious (perhaps a sprain) but if it hasn't gotten better for 3 weeks, it isn't going to get better playing on it every day.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 07:40 AM) AL Ranks: Innings: Hernandez 1 Verlander 2 Price 5 Sale 15 Weaver 19 Wins: Price 1 Weaver 1 Sale 3 Hernandez 7 Verlander 7 WHIP: Weaver 1 Verlander 2 Sale 3 Hernandez 4 Price 5 ERA: Price 1 Verlander 2 Hernandez 3 Sale 4 Weaver 5 K/9: Verlander 4 Price 6 Sale 7 Hernandez 10 Weaver 22 K/BB: Sale 1 Verlander 3 Hernandez 5 Weaver 11 Price 12 I'd say it's very close between Price, Verlander, and Sale, with Hernandez a bit behind them and Weaver a bit farther behind. Sale's biggest detriment is his innings count. 20 extra innings is a lot of added value when comparing guys whose other stats are similar. I don't think his IP is a detriment at all. Look at others on the list.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 07:31 AM) !!!!!!!!!!!11 I don't think his IP is a detriment at all. Look at others on the list.
  11. Kinda liking Jordan Danks..... Dayan needs to produce or we may have a replacement waiting in the wings I know he's young, but it appears he assumes he has the position locked up. What is Tanks stats the last week or so?
  12. White Sox fan boy reaction to Brent Lillibridge being traded to the Red Sox
  13. I've read 2 rumors.... Youk traded to white sox with cash for thornton and PTBNL or Youk, Albers, and Lars Andersen for Gavin Floyd and Matt Thornton

  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) I'd rather blame Dunn, Peavy and Rios. This firesale never happens if we don't suck in 2011. Dunn wasn't traded for, he was a FA....but knittpicking asside....I'm absolutely baffled how anyone, with any baseball knowledge, would sign a player to such an exorbitant contract, to be a DH who strikes out 183 times a year on average. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a DH is supposed to be the RBI guy on a team....which means he is supposed to be able to put the bat on the ball, to drive in runs......how does a hitter do that when he Ks 183 times a year on average ? So why does kenny give him such a monster contract ?
  18. Cubs in contact with Buehrle's agent http://www.csnchicago.com/11/15/11/Cubs-in...?blockID=594932
  19. Thome's going back to Cleveland to finish out a HoF career! Good for him. He'll go in the hall, as an Indian....the organization he started his HoF career with. Should be embraced by their fans, now that he's going to retire, in a Tribe uniform. A month long goodbye.....I'm sure that the Tribe's PR crew can find a way to tribute Jimbo, and sell a few extra tickets, in the process.
  20. Dunn in, Lillibridge out (again) Same line-up as last night for today's game. Gee, Ozzie, it worked so well yesterday, you're going with it again tonight, huh? Anyone expect a different result?
  21. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) ESPNChiSox Doug Padilla Rumors everywhere #whitesox have claimed Thome & maybe Kubel. If so, now 48 hrs to work out possible deal. http://www.csnchicago.com/08/24/11/Sox-Dra...&feedID=665
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) Ricketts is talking about an experienced/successful GM, possibly currently employed as a GM somewhere as he feels the Cubs should be a great destination job. He's talking down the idea of promoting someone's assistant GM. If the Ricketts family are truely serious about building a winner, then they need to talk to Kim Ng. U of Chicago grad, she has worked for the best baseball team in Chicago, the Yankees of the late 90's and early 2000's, and the Dodgers. She is thoroughly qualified in all phases of the game, and would be a real feather in the cap of the cub. Imho. I wish she was back on the Southside.
  23. I remember Leifer as a power hitting, backup outfielder. But, I don't remember Leifer being able to run the bases, or play the field, like Lillibridge can. Lilly's already stolen 10 bases (as a part time player)and can score on a double to LEFT field (like he did on Saturday's Rios double), scoring the winning run. Lilly is extremely flexible, in the field. He's played all 3 outfield positions (well I might add) and has the ability to play all 4 infield positions (who would've thought he could be a decent defensive 1st baseman?). At the very least......Lillibridge is an EXTREMELY VALUABLE backup.....for what...7 positions? Then again, maybe he can catch too......
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 08:37 AM) Link He spends his time in Vegas , so in order for him to leave , he'd have to spend time inChicago(which he won't), or actually do something to collect a paycheck(which he doesn't). Rick Reuschel won more games for th Cubs than Maddux did, so why isn't his jersey retired? It's all typical Cub public relations phoney baloney. Nobody retires a pitcher's jersey with a 54% winning percentage (133-112)with an Era of 3.61. Compare that with the numbers he piled up in Atlanta where they didn' even get a chance to retire his jersey before the Cubs jumped on his bandwagon and beat them to the punch. As a Brave he won 194 games with an Era of 2.63 and winning 68%. The Cubs ran the guy out of town , and they are just embarrassed by his 14 division championships that he won with the Braves.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) f*** Cleveland. They don't deserve him back. How about the White Sox?.....Dunn to DL? If he's going to be put on waivers....it would tell me that he's probably going to retire after the 2011 season. If so, Cleveland would be his most likely last stop w Philly second.
